Setting Visibility

On LISTEN, you can choose from several visibility options for your podcasts, episodes, and transcripts.

Setting Podcast Visibility

On LISTEN, you can choose from four visibility options for your podcast:

  • Public
  • Followers Only
  • Restricted
  • Private

How to Set

  1. Click the icon at the top right of the homepage.
  2. Select Dashboard.
  1. Open the podcast you want to set as Restricted or Private.

  2. Select Visibility & Transcript Settings.

  3. Choose your desired visibility option.

  • Followers Only

A Followers Only podcast can only be viewed and listened to by users who follow the podcast. When this mode is selected:

  • The podcast itself is visible to everyone, regardless of whether they are a follower.
  • For non-followers (including when the player is embedded on external sites like social media), a message will appear saying “This podcast is for followers only,” along with a Follow button.
  • Once a user follows the podcast, the content becomes available for listening.
  • The RSS feed is not distributed (cannot be delivered to external services).
  • Visibility in LISTEN’s full-text search depends on the transcript’s visibility settings.

  • Limited

An Limited podcast can only be accessed by those who know the access code.

  • When selecting Limited, an access code input field will appear.
  • Set an alphanumeric code of 3–24 characters.

Private

A Private podcast can only be accessed by the administrator. You can use this for personal diaries, meeting notes, and more.

⚠️ Note: The number of podcasts you can set as Followers Only, Restricted, or Private depends on your Premium Plan. Please consider upgrading if needed.

Creating Followers Only Episodes

Within a Public podcast, you can create Followers Only episodes, which can only be listened to by those who follow the podcast. (Example: LISTEN NEWS Off-Talk episode)

These episodes display a Followers Only label.

⚠️ Note: The maximum duration of Followers Only episodes is determined by your Premium Plan. Please consider upgrading if needed.

Setting Transcript Visibility

You can also control whether transcripts are generated and who can view them.

  • Public: Anyone can read the transcript.
  • Public (Not Indexed by Search Engines): Anyone can read it, but it will not appear in external search engines like Google.
  • Followers Only: Only users who follow the podcast on LISTEN can read it.
  • Admins Only: Only podcast admins can read it.
  • Do Not Transcribe: No transcript will be generated or displayed.

Notes:

  • If you select Followers Only or Admins Only, the transcript will still appear in LISTEN’s internal search results.
  • If you select Do Not Transcribe, no further transcripts will be generated. However, transcripts already generated will still appear in LISTEN’s internal search results.
