本日も心理学の最新論文を紹介していきたいと思います。 Today, I would like to introduce the latest thesis of psychology.
今日は、スカルホイッスルと呼ばれる笛の一種が Today, I would like to introduce a thesis on how the sound of a flute, called a skull hoist,
人の心にどういう影響を与えるかというようなことを研究した論文を紹介したいと思います。 influences the human mind.
だいぶ異色の研究なんですけど、知らないことばかりでとても面白かったので、 It is a very strange research, but I found it very interesting.

何度か研究の話をさせていただくような中で、発達心理学の研究者です。 I have talked about research several times, and I am a researcher of advanced psychology.

本題はスカルホイッスルですね。まずスカルホイッスルとは何やねんという話なんですけど、 I would like to talk about skull hoisting. First of all, what is skull hoisting?
これはアステカ文明において使用された笛だそうですが、 This is a flute that was used in the Aztec civilization,
実際のところ、何でこれがあったのか、使われていたのか、吹かれていたのかということはよくわかっていなかったようです。 but I don't know why it was used or played.
今回の研究で少しそのあたりの考察も最後にされているんですけど、 For example, it was used for war,
例えば戦争のために使われていたんじゃないかと、相手に恐怖心を与えたりとかするので、 for example, it was used to frighten the enemy,
威嚇的な意味で使っていたんじゃないかという説とかがあったみたいなんですけど、 but I don't know why it was used.
音の実験と評価
今回、心理学または神経科学的な研究・検討がされているわけです。 This time, psychological or neuroscientific research is being conducted.

楽器というには少し怖すぎるというか、 It's a little scary to call it an instrument.
音階を鳴らすような感じじゃないのかなと思うんですけど、 I don't think it's like playing a scale,
こういうものが使われていたというのは事実だそうです。 but it's a fact that this kind of thing was used.
スカルホイスルというのは人の頭蓋骨の形をしている笛だからです。 Skull hoist is a flute that has the shape of a human skull.
実際に骨を使っているというわけじゃなくて、 It's not actually made of bone,
粘土で作っているということみたいなんですけど、 but it's made of clay.

あとは音響学的な、どういう音なのかということを、 I got them to evaluate what kind of sound it was,
音響的特性の分析
音響特性的に低力化するということをしたりとか、 and I got them to evaluate the sound characteristics.
あとはMRIの中でこの音を聞いてもらう。 I got them to listen to this sound in MRI.
他の自然音とか動物の音とか人間脳性とか楽器とかそういうものと比較するということを、 I got them to compare it with other natural sounds, animal sounds, human brain, and musical instruments.
実験した研究になっています。 I got them to compare it with other natural sounds.
結果はざっくりといこうと思うんですけど、 First of all,
まず音響的な特徴で言うとノイズが多い。 the sound characteristics are that it has a lot of noise.
聞いてもらったらわからないと思うんですけど、 I think you can understand it if you listen to it,
クリアな感じじゃないですかね、ノイズが多い。 but it doesn't sound clear.
粗い、突き刺すような音を持つという風に言われて、 It has a rough and piercing sound.
分析されたそうです。 It was analyzed like that.
他の音と比較した場合においては、 In comparison with other sounds,
電子音とか自然音と最も類似していて、 it has the same characteristics as electronic sounds and natural sounds.
動物音、人間の悲鳴とも近い特徴を持つということだそうです。 It has the same characteristics as animal sounds and human screams.
今度は心理学的な評定のお話なんですが、 This is a psychological assessment,
スカルホイスルの音は非常に深いであると、怖い、恐怖を感じる、 It is said that the sound of the skull hoist is very deep and scary,
あとは緊急性が高いと感じるというような結果になったそうです。 and it is said that it has a high degree of urgency.
これは自然な音とは認識されずに、 It is not recognized as a natural sound,
技術的な音と人工的な音と分類されるような傾向にあったそうです。 but it is classified as a technical or artificial sound.
主観評定的にも人間の悲鳴と最も類似していると判断されたりしたそうです。 It is said that the sound of the skull hoist is the same as human screams.
最後、脳科学的な研究分析によりますと、 Finally, according to the brain science analysis,
スカルホイスルの音は聴覚野よりも前頭腰、頭皮質、頭腸幹骨でより強く処理されたということで、 The sound of the skull hoist was processed more strongly in the front of the head, the back of the head than in the hearing.
何が言いたいかというと、他の生物音とは異なり、 What I want to say is that it is different from other biological sounds.
後耳認知より前頭腰とか思考とか深く考えたりとか、 I think it's good to have a rational image,
あとは熟慮したり、理性的なイメージでいいと思うんですけど、 such as thinking deeply, thinking deeply, and eating.
そういうところで脳が活性化していたということで、 That's where the brain was activated.
これは通常の自然で聞かれる音を聞いているときとは違っていたということのようです。 It seems to be different from when you are listening to a natural sound.
アステカ文明における使用
考察がなかなか面白いので、できるだけ紹介できたらと思うんですけど、 The theory is quite interesting, so I would like to introduce it as much as possible.
まずは、アステカ文明でどう使われていたかというところの考察なんですけど、 First of all, the theory of how it was used in the Aztec civilization,
これは恐怖を喚起するための道具として使われていた可能性が高いであろうということ。 This means that it is likely to have been used as a tool to alleviate fear.
かつ、戦争の仮説を最初にちょっとシェアしたんですけど、 And I shared the hypothesis of the war at the beginning,
戦争の仮説、戦争のために使われていたというよりは、むしろ儀式的な使われ方、神話的な特徴を持っていたのではないかということだそうです。 It seems that it was rather a ritualistic usage, a mythological feature than a hypothesis of war.
これはなぜそう言えるかというと、これも結構面白くて、 Why can I say that? This is also quite interesting.
戦場で使用する威嚇音というのは、敵に即座に恐怖を与えるようなパターンを持つということが重要であると。 It is important to have a pattern that gives fear to the enemy immediately.
例えば、軍隊の太鼓の音とか、ラッパとか叫び声とかね。 For example, the sound of the drum of the army, the cry of the rapper.
スカルホイスの音はランダムで混沌としたノイズであると。 But the sound of the skull hoist is a random and chaotic noise.
何の音かすぐには判断できないために、何か威嚇するという目的には適していないんじゃないかということ。 In order not to be able to judge what kind of sound it is immediately, it is not suitable for the purpose of threatening.
一方で、混沌とか死、異世界みたいな、そういうことを連想させるような。 On the other hand, chaos, death, alienation, something like that.

あとは、シンボリックな、象徴的な解釈を伴うような脳領域という風にも言えるんですけど。 You can also say that it is a brain area with symbolic, symbolic interpretation.
なので、単なる驚かせる音というわけではなくて、深い意味を伴うような音として捉えられていたのではないかと、捉えられているのではないかという風なこと。 So, it's not just a surprising sound, it's a sound that has a deep meaning.
なので、戦争とかで使われたというよりは、儀式的なところで使われたという風に解釈する方が妥当なのではないかというようなことでございました。 So, it is more suitable to interpret it as being used in a ritual than in a war.
もう一個だけ、考古学的な証拠もそれをサポートしているらしくて。 One more thing, it seems that the scientific evidence also supports it.
スカルホイスルが発見された場所というのは、戦場になるような場所ではなくて、儀式的な供養をするような埋葬地であったというようなことなので、 This means that the place where the skull was found was not a place like a battlefield, but a ritual-like burial ground.
これも今回の解釈と整合性が高いということで、いろんな理由でね、戦争に使われていたというよりは儀式に使われていたのではないかということで。 This is also because the interpretation and consistency of this is high, and it was used in a ritual rather than in a war for various reasons.
儀式的利用の新知見
これはすごく面白いなと思いながら読んでおりました。 I thought this was very interesting and read it.
そんなとこですかね。これも心理学の研究なんだというふうに自分も驚くし、とても今回インパクトのあるような学術雑誌に載っているので、 Well, I was surprised that this was also a scientific research, and it seems to be a very impactful academic journal this time.
確かに、今まで言われていた仮説を、ひっくり返すまでは言わないんですけど、に十分な証拠を持って意を唱えるということができていると思うので、 In fact, I think that it can be said that the hypothesis that has been said so far has enough evidence to say that it is good.
そういう意味では、多くの人に読まれるべき論文なのかなというふうにも思ったりしておりました。 In that sense, I thought it was a paper that should be read by many people.

これはどれくらい日本で流行っているのかあまりわかっていないんですけども、バカリズムさんが脚本を書かれている。 I don't know how popular it is in Japan, but Baka Rhythm is writing a script.
ニッテルで最近まで放送されてたのかな。また放送が終わってから見始めるというね、いつものパターンなんですけど。 I wonder if it was broadcast on NITTERU until recently. It's the usual pattern to start watching after the broadcast is over.
もしかしたら日本の流行りとは時差があるかもしれないんですけど、これね、めちゃくちゃ面白い。 Maybe there is a time difference from the popularity of Japan, but this is very interesting.
