Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
What's up, guys? How's it going?
Yeah, so like an overall career, Seoul. So youwent to Seoul many times?
Yeah, like one, two, three, four times.
It was like fourth or fifth visit.
Okay. So it was my second time in Seoul, but thefirst time was my会社員時代の研修.
Okay.
And it was, I was riding, like we were riding onthe bus.
We were in the group.
Yeah.
And we're just, you know, just like sightseeingbus kind of.
And we didn't like walk around by myself andcultivate so many things like this.
So to me, it was first experience, like actualexperience of Seoul.
Right.
And I found it pretty fun.
It's a good city. It's like, it's not crowded.
Like, well, right? Don't you think so? It's notthat crowded.
Oh, it really does depend on the place and time.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
Because it was like Sunday. So the second day wasSunday, right?
Okay.
And I went to like COEX. For example, that's likea huge mall. And it wasn't like that crowded.
Okay.
And also like walking around some Gangnam areasand like went to like fancy cafes in those places.
And it's like, it was like, there were no lines.
Okay. Okay. Yes. Many of the popular cafes do havelines.
Oh, okay.
Right. Remember, we saw Chipotle.
Oh, yeah. Chipotle. That was crazy.
Many of the social media viral cafes do makelines.
Okay. So many of people were like going to thoseplaces.
And that's why like the other hand was like emptykind of.
Maybe. I don't know.
But yeah. Sure. Sure. It depends on the places andareas, I think.
But to me, it was like many Koreans are there.
Like they were living their like daily lives inSeoul, but not like many foreign tourists,
like many, let's say, like many Japanese or likemany Americans, many European people coming in.
Yeah.
So to me, I felt it wasn't that crowded.
Right.
So very like comfortable to walk around, experience things.
Yeah.
So that was very good to me.
Right.
I didn't expect that.
Right. Like, you know, weekend, Shibuya, Shinjuku,Asakusa, kind of even hard to walk around.
Right. I don't know.
I don't even go outside.
Yeah. With all the locals plus the global touristscoming in.
I agree. There wasn't much global tourists inKorea.
Right.
Yeah.
So that was like a chance.
Yeah. Right.
And that I found it good.
韓国の食事とタクシー事情
Um, the other hand, food's pretty nice, likeeverywhere.
Yeah.
Like, uh, well, I didn't experience so many like10, 20, but many of them were like good.
Mm.
Like.
Yeah.
So that was nice.
And, but one thing I found that doesn't fit mewas, uh, the driving techniques.
Yeah.
Um.
We rode in taxis several times.
Yeah. From the airport to the first place.
Yeah.
The driver was very, very wild.
He went to, he went to like some car chases, like, you know, like almost crashed.
Right.
The cars.
Yeah.
And I got like car sick from that. And I was liketerrible.
Right.
Condition when we met the taxi driver.
I really wanted to talk with her so many things, but I was like,
Yeah.
Knocked down and yeah.
Yeah.
And after that on second day, I took some, sometaxis to move around and all of them were like,
very aggressive, aggressive.
And every time I took it, like, I was like,
I thought it was just him, but I guess it's likein general, kind of like that.
I think so.
Okay.
They do many like lane changes.
Uh huh.
Like, like they drive like this.
They'll try to like squeeze in on the space.
Yeah.
If somebody tries to get in.
Right.
They'll prevent it from happening.
Right.
So I prefer using trains, metros.
Yeah.
Right.
Okay.
So that was one.
近さと韓国語で感じる海外旅行
But yeah, like overall it's very close.
You don't have any time differences.
That's a big upside.
Right.
Yeah.
But still it felt like you're in foreign country.
Many things are different.
You advise and atmospheres and everything aredifferent.
So pretty nice.
Yeah.
I love Korea.
Yeah.
The people there are kind of used to the Japanesetourists.
True.
Right.
So many even spoke Japanese to anybody whodoesn't, you know, speak Korean.
Yeah.
And look Asian.
Right.
Right.
Right.
But at the same time, I felt they, some of themlike very flu, like a fast, like switch
was very fast to Japanese.
But some of them don't even speak English.
Okay.
Like I think they, maybe they can, but they'renot, they try, like they keep themselves speaking
in Korean, I guess.
I felt that vibe from some of the staffs.
Okay.
Because it's in Korea.
Okay.
The vibe.
And I kind of, I liked that vibe.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I see.
So in cafes, even like some easy conversations, like they do it in Korean.
Okay.
Like one cup of coffee.
They didn't say like that, just in Korean.
Just in Korean.
Okay.
Wow.
That's the vibe.
And I kind of, I was happy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that was nice.
Right.
Okay.
So that was my overall impression of Seoul, Korea,Seoul.
Nice.
Yeah.
Nice.

What do you think about the weather there?
Oh, it was brilliant, no?

Weather.
It was brilliant.
Sunny day.
Not very, very hot though.
You got wind.
The humidity was pretty low, no?
I, yeah, I guess.

Yeah.
Winter was really harsh there.
Oh, really?
Harsher than Japan.
Summer is harsher.
Yeah.
In Korea, I think.

Okay.
It's like, oh, maybe there's something better.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I knew that was going to happen in this Koreantrip, definitely.
So I did my research beforehand and I decidedwhere I want to go before coming to Korea.
Oh, nice.
Yeah, I didn't have that, like, paralysis shitkicking in.

You might also like the, um, the Mura.
I know.
See, instead of like the trendy modern ones, youmight like the more.
Yeah.
Maybe like traditional ones.
Maybe.
Right.
It's not.
Okay.
This is not fully traditional.
It's this kind of modern as well, but it's, it's,uh.
