今回は週末世界、タイムパラドックス、アクションにドラマ、色々詰め込んだ一大SF作品　#ターミネーター です。ちなみに語ったのはGenisysとNew Fate(Dark Fate)。

まあ批評家や観客一般の反応から言って大爆死の作品です。

ここから始まる３部作！

って話も容赦なく立ち消えたこの２作品。

４から通算して３度目の３部作企画立ち消え。

ターミネーターよ、どうしてこうなった・・・

作品の粗にツッコミを入れていくうちに、レジェンド作品のリメイク、リブートの限界が見えてきました。

社会は変わっていくわけで。

であれば創作の世界もまた変わっていく必要があるわけで。

社会性を切り抜いたテーマは永遠のものになりにくいんですよね。

その当時をイメージして初めて我々は感動するわけです。

なればこそ、今作るべくは今を切り取ったテーマにそぐう物語。

ストーリーテリングの基本を見つめ直すきっかけが必要なようです。

とはいえ、それをみて育った世代は、自分の手でって思っちゃうよね。

Hey, it’s Mako, your movie talk podcaster!

This time, we’re diving into the wild world of #Terminator—a sci-fi beast packed with apocalypses, time paradoxes, action, drama, you name it. FYI, the ones we’re talking about are Genisys and New Fate (aka Dark Fate).

Let’s be real… both movies totally tanked with critics and fans.

So much for the start of a brand-new trilogy! Both of these flicks got axed with zero mercy. That’s actually the third time they tried to launch a Terminator trilogy after part 4—and boom, all cancelled again.

Terminator, how did it come to this…?

As I was picking apart all the rough spots in these movies, it kinda hit me—the limits of remaking or rebooting legendary films are very real.

The world changes, right?
So stories need to change too.

If you pick a theme just to be “socially relevant,” it almost never becomes timeless.
You really only get moved by a story if you can picture what that time felt like.

That’s why we need to make stories for now, about right now.
Maybe it’s time to go back to basics and rethink how we tell stories.

Still… for those of us who grew up with this franchise, it’s hard not to dream about making our own version someday, isn’t it?
