From Bilingual News to Podcasting: A Personal Journey
In this episode, I talk about a podcast that has been part of my life for more than a decade: Bilingual News.
Since around 2013, I've listened to bilingual podcasts that mix Japanese and English, covering everything from technology and biology to culture and current events. They have accompanied me through different stages of life, helping me stay connected to both Japanese- and English-speaking worlds while making language learning feel natural and enjoyable.
We discuss how bilingual media has evolved over the years, the early days of YouTube, and why long-form conversations can offer a different perspective from the fast-paced information we consume today. I also share some thoughts on language learning, pronunciation, comprehension, and the challenges of creating content as an independent podcaster.
Along the way, we touch on travel, curiosity, and the pleasure of discovering new ideas through audio. Rather than offering a guide or a set of lessons, this episode is a personal reflection on listening, learning, and finding connections across languages and cultures.
