We got the wild ones, and next month we'll start to harvest the fresh ones.

We only got the ones we harvested for 2 months.
We got the ones we harvested for a year, salted and packed.
We got them last night, and they were really good.

We just ate them, and they were really good.

We soaked them in salt water for 30 minutes, and they grew a lot.

Yeah, they grew a lot.
They were really good, and the texture was really good.

They were thick, right?

Yeah, they were thick.
They weren't as thick as mekabu, but they were really good.

Yeah, they were good.
We put them in miso soup.

They were gone in a second.

We should have put more in.

Yeah, we should have.

Yeah, we should have put more in.
They were really good.
Yeah, they were.
And after that...

Ishi-Osada coast?

Yeah.

It's not Gajumaru.
It's not Gajumaru.
It's mangrove.

It's mangrove.

Yeah.

Yeah, so...

They're dry.

Mangrove is basically a plant that grows in seawater.

Seawater is a mixture of seawater and river water, right?

Yeah, it's a plant that grows in a mixture of freshwater and seawater.
That's what mangrove is.
But here, it's mostly seawater.
Oh, it's not seawater. I'm sorry.
It's mostly seawater.
It's a rare plant that grows in a place with a lot of salt.
It's a place where there's almost no river that flows into it.
But it's a place where there are a lot of them on the sea side.

There were a lot of them. There were a lot of small ones, too.

It was cute.
It was cute.
It's pretty big.
According to the guide yesterday, mangrove is...
I thought it was a body that can only live in seawater.
But it's not supposed to be in seawater.
It's got a filter that removes salt from the roots.
So it's just getting the water it needs.
It's supposed to be okay if it's in seawater.
So it's a theory that if it's in seawater, it'll have a lot of filters.
Why is it in seawater?
That's how they grow.

It was cute.

It was cute.

And after that...

We're going to head east along the south side of the road.
There's a beach here, but there's not much of a way down to the beach.
We're going to go through here.

Kohomo Island doesn't have a road that's set in stone.
There's no sea side.

There's no sea side.
Basically, it's about three-fourths of the island.
It's a little bit inside.
It's like a roundabout.
It's a little bit like a hotel.

There's a roundabout in front of the hotel.
That's right.
It's called Gofurin.
There weren't many roads that could go down to the beach.

That's right.
There weren't many.

There's a lot of ups and downs.
We had to go down the road to get to the beach.

We had to go back up again.

It was a big downhill.

That's what it was like.
I've been there once or twice.
It wasn't that big of a deal.
It was beautiful.

It was a little cloudy.
It was raining today.
The sky was thick with clouds.
It was a little dark.

If you notice it as it is...
To the resort.

There's a star resort on Kohama Island.
There's a different resort called Haimurubushi.
There's a golf course.
There were a few men with golf bags on the boat we took home today.

There's a Kohama Island Country Club on the resort.

I thought I'd go golfing and go home.

Resorts and golf courses.
Most of the places on the island were resorts.

It was a private property, so I couldn't go in.

That's what it was like.
So we couldn't go to the east end.
We took a detour.
We went to see the beach.
And then...

We went to the mountains.
The symbol of Kohama Island.
There are two small mountains in the middle of the island.

They're called Ifudaki and Nishiufudaki.
There was a way to read it, but I forgot.
It's supposed to be Ifu.
It's a big triangle.

It's called Ifudaki.
It's in the west, so the other one is Nishiufudaki.
It's like two small clouds.
Two small clouds.
The higher one is Ifudaki, but it's still 99 meters.
It's less than 100 meters.
Less than 100 meters.

I'm glad it's Nishiufudaki.
It's Nishiufudaki and Ifudaki.

In Ifudaki, there was a place called Koutomori in the old days.

There was a place called Yaeyama in the old days.
Foreigners used to come and attack.

It's a place to curse.

That's right.
It was a place where they lit a fire to spread the message to everyone.
Now the scenery is good.

Koutomori is a way of reading Hateruma.
I see.
Koutomori is Hateruma's Hibanmori.
Each island has a different way of reading it.
Hibanmori...
It's called Hibanmui.
It's a forest of fire.
It's called Hibanmui because it's a forest of fire.
It's located at the top of Ufudaki.
I think it's the best Hibanmui in Hibanmui.

We went to Yamareko.
From Ufudaki to Nishiufudaki.
It's like a heavy railway.
There were stairs, so we went there.

That's right.
It's 1km away.

It's 66 meters uphill and 66 meters downhill.

It was cute.
It was a cute journey.
You can go from Ufudaki to Nishiufudaki and go home by car.

I recommend it if you want to walk.

I liked Nishiufudaki better.
Nishiufudaki is longer.
Nishiufudaki is wider.
The whole area was open.

There was also an azumaya.

Both have azumayas, but Nishiufudaki is wider and longer.
There was a day of Chura-san in Nishiufudaki.
I saw Goyama for the first time in a long time.
It's fun.
I'm happy.

It's nostalgic.
It's been more than 20 years.

When was Chura-san?

It's been almost 30 years.

When was Chura-san?
Chura-san?
When?
I just realized.
When?
How many years has it been broadcast?
It says 2001.
It's been 24 years.

Is it that long ago?

I see.

There was a sugar field on both sides of Chura-san's drama.
There was a road in the middle.
I also passed the place with the name Sugar Road.

That's where Chura-san's location was.
And the house that became the location.
Was it Kohagura-so?
Kohagura-so.
The building of the location remains as a model.
It's a private house, so you can't go inside.

You can only visit the front door.

I went to Kohagura-so.
And I went into the village.

There was only one shop.

It was a normal shop.
There were no souvenirs.
It was a normal summer shop.
The lunch box looked delicious.
I thought it was the cheapest lunch box in Japan.
It was the cheapest.
It was 600 yen.

It was a lunch box with a lot of volume.
It was made by Ishigaki.
He brought it by boat.

I hoped that Ishigaki would sell the lunch box.
I think so.
I went to the post office.
They made me go to the post office.
They made me go to the post office of a woman dancing in Kohama Island.

When you go to a place,

do you go to the post office?

They sold souvenir tickets.
But I don't think there was such a thing.

They made me go to the post office.
I wrote a letter.
I passed Sugar Road.
It was like going back to the terminal.

Sugar Road was full of sugarcane fields when you were in Chura.
Yes, it was.

But now it's more like...

There are a lot of places that have turned into livestock farms.

It was a cow field.

There were a lot of cows and it was a pasture.
Sugar Road is getting less and less.

Yes, there were almost no sugarcane fields.
There were a few at the entrance and the exit.

Sugar Road is like a city that's about to end.
There was a brown sugar factory in Kohama.

Yes, there was a brown sugar factory.
I didn't eat brown sugar in Kohama.

There was no place to eat it.
There was a souvenir shop selling one-bite-sized sweets.

Yes, but it was expensive.
Well, there's still some brown sugar left.
I guess that's about it.
I didn't do anything special this time.
It's been a while since I've had a leisurely trip.

Yes, it was raining.
The weather wasn't very good in the beach in winter, so I couldn't see it well.

When I came to Iriomote, I thought that the blue sky and the blue sea would be higher.

And Iriomote Island was very close.

Yes, it was very close.

I was wondering if I had walked all the way there.

Yes, and Yubujima, which I remember.

Yubujima was right in front of me.
Yes, it was right in front of me.
According to Wikipedia, it's only two kilometers away from Kohama Island and Iriomote Island.
Two kilometers.

I wonder if I can run there.

No, no, no.
I feel like I can run there.
But the Yonara Waterway in there is quite fast and deep.
Because the colors are different.

Kohama Island and Iriomote Island are very shallow, but there is a cut in Sekisei Shoko.
There is a place where there is a beautiful deep waterway.
That's the Yonara Waterway.
That's the only place that's deep, isn't it?
That's why it's said that Manta passes through here every season.
It is famous as a place where divers can see Manta.
There was a huge Manta observatory in Kubazaki Park.
Yes, there was.
I just remembered that I forgot to take a picture.
Well, it was Manta.

Yes, it was Manta.

Yes, it was Manta.

Kohama Island is surrounded by coral reefs.
You can only see the coral reefs on the map,
but if you look at Google Earth,
you can see a lot of coral reefs.
If you look at the sea,
you can see that the back of the sea is dark and the front is blue.
It was an island where you could see that there were so many coral reefs.
That's right.

It's easy to see that there are coral reefs all around.
It was easy to see because there was a western bay.

I thought it would be very beautiful when the weather was good in summer.

It seems to be a very relaxing place.
Next time I come to Kubazaki Park, I would like to stay at a Japanese homestay.

That's right.
There was also a burger shop that I was interested in.
I couldn't go this time.

There was a booth cafe in front of the ferry terminal.
I heard that there was a teriyaki burger using Kohama Island's brown sugar.
It was a very delicious Kohama burger.
I heard that there was a booth cafe in front of the ferry terminal.
I heard that there was a booth cafe in front of the ferry terminal.
I couldn't eat it because I went to Fukugi in Kubazaki Park.
The ferry terminal is in front of me, so if you come in summer, please come.
It looks delicious.
Looking at the photo, it looks very delicious.
Kohama Burger.

On the way home, I was wondering if I would buy it for dinner.
It was already closed in the evening.

It was written that the operation time was until 4 o'clock.
It was already closed when I got back to the ferry terminal about 20 minutes after 3 o'clock.
I think the operation time is written for summer.

I think so.
There were few restaurants where I could eat lunch.

I agree.
There were few restaurants.
I think there were many izakaya.
The shops I went to were rare.
I heard that there are two or three shops.
I heard that the shops in front of the ferry terminal are open all day.
I heard that there are only one or two shops in the city.
I heard that the shops in front of the ferry terminal are not open all day.
Please check the information on Instagram before you go.
