Midnight Letters|Collection #01|EP.04 A Letter on the Back of an Old Map|Letters Lane Podcast

= Midnight at A Story That Begins with a Letter =

On the back of an old map, someone left a letter without knowing who might one day find it.

A map meant for distant places became a place to remember people instead.

The faces that remain.
The conversations we thought we had forgotten.
The small kindnesses that somehow stay with us.

Today on Letters Lane, we share “A Letter on the Back of an Old Map,” followed by “Where the Roads Lead,” a song born from the feelings and memories surrounding the letter.

Letters arrive almost every day at Letters Lane, finding their way to Sophia, the guide of this quiet place.

From among them, Sophia chooses one letter to share with you, followed by music that explores the feelings and memories it leaves behind.

Make yourself comfortable and take your time in the world of Letters Lane, where letters and music gently come together.

Hello, welcome to Letters Lane. I'm Sofia. Tonightfrom this little room I'd like to
share a letter with you. This is a quiet placewhere letters unlock the door to memories,
feelings, and moments that live deep within theheart. Thank you for spending this time
with me tonight. The title of the letter I'msharing tonight is A Letter Written on the
Back of an Old Map. No one knows where that maponce led. We do not know who carried it
or for whom those words were intended. Somestories provide answers while others simply
evoke a certain feeling, something indefinable. And sometimes it is that very feeling that
lingers longest in the heart. The words inscribedon the back of this old map were not about
reaching a destination. They were about thinkingof someone, about gratitude, and about a humble
prayer, hoping that a loved one is doing well, somewhere, somehow. Let us listen now to the
one who finds this map. I'm not sure who will endup reading these words. Maybe the map
will stay folded away for years. Maybe it will beforgotten in a drawer. Or maybe one
day someone will turn it over and find this smallnote waiting on the other side. If that
happens, I hope you won't mind these few lines.Life has a way of carrying us farther
than we expect. We spend so much time lookingahead, toward the next town, the next season,
the next thing we hope to reach, that we sometimesforget to notice what has already been given
感謝と、遠くにいる人の無事を願う気持ち
to us. Lately, I found myself thinking less aboutdestinations and more about people.
The people whose presence quietly became part ofmy days. The ones who made ordinary moments
feel a little warmer. The ones I never thankedenough. Maybe that is why I am writing this.
Not because there is something important I need toexplain. Not because there is a lesson hidden
here. Only because gratitude has a habit oflingering long after the moment has passed.
There are faces I still remember. Conversations Ithought I had forgotten. Small kindnesses that
seemed ordinary at the time but somehow stayedwith me. The older I get, the more I realize how
those things matter. If someone comes to mindwhile you read this, perhaps that is reasonenough.
Perhaps there is someone you hope is doing well.Someone you remember with a quiet smile. Someone
whose happiness still matters to you, even fromfar away. I think that is a beautiful thing.
As for me, there is nothing more I wish to saythan this. Thank you. For the moments shared. For
the memories that remained. For the ways peoplecan change one another without ever meaning to.
And wherever life has taken you, I hope it hasbeen kind. I hope there is laughter in your days.
I hope there is peace in your evenings. Most ofall, I hope you are well. That simple wish
手紙に触発された曲と別れの言葉
feels more valuable than any destination marked ona map. So if these words have somehow found
you, take them with you for a little while. And ifthere is someone you care about, perhaps
think of them today. That feels like enough. Takecare. As we journey through life, we often
find ourselves looking only toward the future.Yet, when we pause to look back, it is the people
who come to mind, isn't it? Those with whom weshared our days. Those who quietly changed our
lives. Those who live on in our hearts, even whenwe are apart. Sometimes, the most meaningful words
are the simplest ones. Thank you. Take care. Ihope you are well. With those sentiments in mind,
I would like to share a song inspired by tonight'sletter, Where the Roads Lead.
Thank you for joining me on Letters Lane tonight. If someone's face came to mind while you were
listening, please take a moment to think of thembefore the night is over. There are bonds that
require no words to explain. Bonds that simplyendure. Until next time, I wish you peaceful days
and a warm heart. Until next time, I'll see you inmy next letter. This is Sophia from Letters Lane.
Good night.
