Hi, I'm Koba Yasu. This is Carpe Diem Seize the day. I'll be mumbling my thoughts in daily life.
言語スキルの構築について
Today's podcast is about how to build language skill.
I'm starting this podcast with a message from a listener.
Hi Koba-san, I've been enjoying your new podcast.
All episodes and also your English are awesome. So I have some questions.
How you develop language skill and how people can do? Do you have any ideas or advices?
I'm looking forward to listening your new episodes. Thanks.
Well, thank you very much for the message. I'm very happy with it.
And I'll be share what I am doing to develop or to maintain my English skill.
There are three things.
1. Speech Shadowing
2. Try to listen the news not with your native language
3. Set language in your smartphone with the language that you like to develop
1. Speech Shadowing
Pick a phrase or scene on the TV show, YouTube, whatever that you like.
And try to repeat it almost the same time.
In my case, I picked the intro of a TV show that I liked.
Or doing karaoke with original vocal will be good too, I think.
英語のスキル開発方法2:母国語ではなく目標の言語でニュースを聞く
2. Try to listen not with your native language but with the language that you like to develop.
In my case, listening to news in English such as BBC, CNN, CTV in Canada or NHK World
will develop your listening skill.
If I didn't understand the topic, I tried to guess the point of it.
After that, I googled the news of the topic in my native language, which is Japanese.
And checked if the guess was correct.
I would say that if the guess is 30% correct, I think it's good.
I don't pursue the perfect.
3. Set the language in your smartphone with the language that you like to learn.
Give yourself to see the language that you like to learn more often.
Presume that you are spending quite a bit of time with looking or using your smartphone.
So this might be the option, I think.
Today, I talked about what I am doing or what I did to develop or to maintain my English skill.
There are three things.
