And yeah, apologies again in advance for this irregular scheduling. I promise that things will
go back to somewhat kind of irregular methods. I do, you know, want to be a regular programming
if, you know, at all. So that will happen, promise, promise, promise. But I have just moved to
another country, Hong Kong in fact. And yes, I have lived in Hong Kong for one year, a couple
years ago. So it's not like everything is completely new, but it's still a lot, you know.
New job, new country, and new apartment, etc, etc. So I just moved into my apartment last week.
It's an area I like, yes. I am living in sort of similar neighborhood to the one I was last time.
And it's, I've got, I scored a decent apartment, I think. We'll see. Hong Kong has been uncharacteristically
dry and quite cold. So we'll see how this apartment feels when like the summer hits
and a full humidity comes on. But I have a little rooftop. I have a real size fridge,
unlike last time where I only had like under the counter mini fridge. So I'm excited to, you know,
just live, start getting into the routine of it. So yeah, give me some time to get settled,
etc. And also, by the way, if I sound strange, that's because I'm recording this from my phone.
My microphone is probably somewhere in the ocean. So that is also sort of, you know, TBD.

アメリカの広さと文化
It is not representative of the entirety of United States in any stretch of form.
So I went to the U.S. for the first time.
When I was in the lab, I was stuck in a bunker-like basement.
So I didn't feel like I was enjoying myself at all.
So I didn't know much about the west coast. I didn't even bother to go there.
And I haven't been to the center of the U.S. either.
I have been to Chicago for a short postdoc.
But I think Chicago is an exceptional city in the midwest.
So I'll leave it at that.
So I went to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to visit a collaborator.
In the middle of winter. And it was so cold and snowy.
So I got off the plane and I opened Google Maps to check where I am, call Uber or something.
And I realized that my pin is right smack in the middle.
In the middle of America.
So I realized for the first time that I was actually in the middle of the U.S.
Even when you live in the states, especially if you live in the states, you kind of forget how big this country really is.
Did it really have to be this big? I'm really not sure at this point.
But it's one giant country.
With a lot of sub-divided cultures that you can find in a spot.
And... I don't know.
It's kind of like a national character.
Each area, or city, has a different personality or color.
It's really interesting.
I don't know.
It's common to think of the U.S. as a lump of people.
But it's huge.
There are so many different types of people in each country.

So I always have to make sure I don't forget that.
When I say Americans, or when I say, oh, in the U.S.
I know that the shugo is really, really big when I do that.
So, yeah.
Something to keep in mind when you're thinking about America, for sure.
And also in technicality-wise, America refers to North and South America.
So that's even bigger.
Typically, if you're talking about America gasshugoku, you will refer to it as United States or U.S. or U.S.A.
And, you know, don't want to lump in together the rest of the whole continent of South America.
Together lumped in it.
But, just small, you know, disclaimer.
ポッドキャストの発見
It's funny because, quite recently, I had a really old friend of mine, like, shogakkou kurai kara no tomodachi, contact me on Instagram saying like,
お久しぶり、あのさ、もしかしてポッドキャストやってたりする?
Oh my god, this has come true!
Is that even a word?
It's just so weird.
I was like, oh, so this is what it means to be exposed?
I mean, I don't mind being exposed.
I mean, I'm a person who would be grateful if people would listen.
But I'm not the type of person who has a relationship with work or outside of work.
But, I don't know what kind of algorithm it was that my friend, who I had never told about my podcast, received my podcast.
But when I heard her voice and the way she spoke, I was like, huh? Maybe it's Asami-chan?
And she said, it's Asami!
So I was like, oh, that's such a distinctive voice.
I've been living with this voice, so I've never thought it was that distinctive.
But it seems like it is.

I think, I bet, Adam-san, I bet you have a nice voice too, you know?
So, start a podcast, maybe. You'll listen to a ton of us.
