このポッドキャストは、日本語を3年間勉強したIpsenさんと、
日本人のTatsuが日本語と英語を交えて学ぶポッドキャストです。
今回は前回の続きです。
カレーライスというテーマのセッションをですね、
1時間でやったものを複数に分けてやっている、その続きになります。
非常に面白いですね。
擬態語、擬音語というものがたくさん出てくる、
本当に面白い回になってますので、
ぜひ最後までお楽しみください。

擬音語の探求
じゃあ次行きましょう。
インポータントバーブ、これ難しいね。
とぐ、米をとぐって言われてすぐ英語出るかなって思うんですけど、
これワッシュですね。
とぐ?
うん、とぐって言うんです。
洗うじゃない?
米は洗うんですけど、米を洗うときは、米はとぐって言うんです。
とぐ。
とぐはあとね、包丁も研ぎます。
ストーンでちょっとシェイブして、
ああ、なるほど。
少しシャープにする感じ。
米も洗ってるようで、少しグラインドするんだよね。
little bit grind?
so it's called like とぐ。
米をウォッシュはとぐ、これ難しいね。
あと炒めるはソーツでしょ?
カレーのルーを入れるは、add curry mix。

簡単だね。
で、米を炊く、これも難しいよね。
米を炊くって言われると、すぐ浮かばないけど、cookね。
米を炊くはね、難しい。
水を入れる、add water、簡単ね。
煮込むがsimmer。
水を足すじゃない?
水を足す、足すでもいいです。
add water、水を足す、水を入れる。
水を足すは、already some water is there, and use.
add more?
yeah, add more.
でも、どっちでも一緒だね。
水を入れる、水を足す。
でも、足すの方が、もともと何か入ってて、さらに足している感じがする。
add water。
水を入れます。
で、煮込むがsimmer。
これあんまり使わないので、僕もsimmerね。
少し低温にして、lower temperatureでsimmerするってことね。
煮込むってことね。
で、切るがcutでいいと思います。
ということで、次は、えっと、あれですね、オノマトペ。
in Japanese, what is the onomatopoeia?
何て、オノマトピアで何て発音しますか?
that's pretty much perfect onomatopoeia.
ok, for cooking, right?
write it down in Japanese.
the sounds cutting vegetables.
ok, I'll tell you a lot of them, ok?
これは一番難しい部分。
難しいの?
はい。
擬音語と擬態語。
so, トントントン。
トントントン。
トントントントントン。
ナイフです。
はい、ナイフで切ってます。
ザクザクザクザク。
ザクザクザク。
what's the difference?
トントントン、ザクザクザク。
トントントンは、その、ナイフと、
knife and cutting board is hitting each other, like トントントントン。
ザクザクザク has like a lot of lettuce or cabbage.
and you hear sounds of like cabbage more like ザク。
ザクザクザク。
I like the crunchy.
yeah, yeah.
and サクサクサク。
This is more like easy to cut stuff.
サクサクサクサク。
なんだろう。
例えば、うーんと、
mushroom とか。
mushroom とか、

サクサクサク。
で、ストーン。
ストーン。
ストーン。
ストーンはもうなんか、パカッて2つ割れちゃう感じ。
ストーン。
あの、トマトとかね。
トマトとか真ん中からストーン。

If the knife is very well sharpened,
then it's シュパ。
So when samurai using sword and cutting something,
シュパ。
That's why I've heard it before.
Yeah, シュパね。
この間二刀流の勉強したけど、
二刀流もシュパみたいな感じ。
and then cutting pattern is like みじん切り。
みじん切り is cutting in this way
and then this way.
So try to make like the very small pieces.
It's chopping like, you know,
sometimes you make onion like really chop, right?

と言ったら、
usually we cut it to like very small piece.

and せん切り。
せん切り。
せん切り、せん is like line, right?
So with cabbage, if you cut like this way,
オノマトペの楽しみ
せん切り is like, you know,
every piece will be like line or strings.
せん切りにしてください。
みじん切りにしてくださいは料理でよく使います。
なるほど。
はい、いいですね。
So ぎゅうぎゅう is another famous yakiniku place.
But both of them sounds a little bit,
じゅうじゅう and ぎゅうぎゅう.
But じゅうじゅう means the sounds of roasting.
ぎゅうぎゅう means actually beef.
Right, okay.
Right.
And じゅわっと。
じゅわっと。
これはもう少し little bit with moist.
Moisture come out after like, you know,
you roasting vegetables.
And if there's like an evaporation came out,
then it's like じゅわっと。
ちょっとあのイタリー語の発音ですね。
じゅわっと。
なんですか?
I don't think it's an actual word in Italian,
but the way you say it, it sounds very Italian.
じゅわっと。
And so it's a little weird,
but じゅうじゅう, じゅわっと,
it's like a, you know,
sounds like roasting.
じゅうじゅう, じゅわー。
But if you combine them,
then it will be the comedian's phrase.
Oh, really?
じゅんじゅわー。
There's one comedian using like this one.
Doesn't have any meaning.
Ah, okay.
Yeah.
And then this is not the sounds,
but we usually say さっと、ささっと。
ささっと。
It's like, you know, quickly.
So if you want to move something from here to here,
please さっと移してください。

It means like very quickly.

Ah, in studying vocabulary,
I think さっと also means like softly, right?

Yeah, those are like, you know, if you want to explain like a little bit, do it quickly, さっと。

And for fire, I prepared some sounds of fire.
So when you having some fire,
the maybe most famous one is めらめら。
めらめら。
めらめら、めらめらと思います。

So there is a magic on the dragon quest in the game.
The fire is like めら。
Ah, なるほど。
Because we call the fire sound as めらめら。
Yeah, it's めら。
And then if fire is little stronger,
it's like ぼわ。
ぼわ。
So when you turn the gas.
The stove.
Yeah, gas stove.
It's like ぼわ。
Ah, なるほど。
And if that is like a little bit stronger or like, you know, exploding.
The ぼかん。
ぼかん。
Or どかん。
どかん。
And then there is another expression that fire is very strong.
Then it's ぼうぼう燃えている。
Fire is like burning so hard.
ぼうぼう。
ぼうぼう燃えていますと言いますね。
いろんな音がありました。
食べるとき もぐもぐと言います。
Ah, その知っています。
知ってます?
もぐもぐ。
Okay, もぐもぐ。
If that person is like a little bit more exciting,
then ぱくぱく。
ぱくぱく。
もぐもぐ is like normal, like very quietly.
ぱくぱく is like a little bit excited.
ぱくぱく 食べています。
はふはふ 食べる。
はふはふは when what you're eating is a little bit hot.
はふはふ 食べています。
はふはふ 食べています。
And then if you are super hungry,
the sound is a little bit different.
がぶり。
がぶり。
がぶりと食べました。

Yeah, this is like more like, you know, you can't wait.
Ah, なるほど。
And that person is like really hungry and eating food like really quickly.
We usually use like the sounds of wolf.
Wolf is eating, like a dog.
Ah, wolf.
Yeah, wolf is eating.
Then usually がつがつ。
がつがつ。
食べる音の表現
がつがつ 食べてる。
がつがつ 食べてる。
So it's like a...
そう、えっとね。
肉食動物ってなんていうんだっけ?
It sounds a bit like really sharp teeth.
Yeah.
Eating something.
So carnivore.
Carnivore animals eating is がつがつ 食べる。
なるほど。
So yeah, when you are super hungry and there is a lot of meat and you keep eating like this, it's like がつがつ 食べてる。
All that.
That pirate is eating the food like がつがつ 食べてる。
ワンピースのルフィ。
そう、ワンピースのルフィも がつがつ 食べてる。
がぶりとかね。
なるほど。
あとはパクッと食べる。
これはもうちょっとね、キュート。
なんか小さなリロタコヤキとか、その小さなピースオブケーキとかをパクッと食べる。
うん、なるほど。
パクッと食べるね。
あとはムシャムシャ食べる。
ムシャムシャは少し音を出してる感じ。
サラダとかを、
if you... when you eat salad with some sounds like ムシャムシャ。
ムシャムシャ食べる。
He is eating ムシャムシャ。
So もぐもぐ パクパク ハフハフ がぶり がつがつ パクッと ムシャムシャ。
And if everything is gone,
we have an expression like ペロリと食べた。
ん?
ペロリ。
ペロリ。
ペロリと食べた。
So I prepared so much food, but he ate everything in 10 minutes.
Oh, okay.
ペロリと食べましたね。
It sounds like you eat everything so quickly.
Oh, okay.
Or like you eat everything like so completely.
Like ペロリと食べました。
It was so easy.

おもしろいですね。
こんなに僕も並べるとおもしろい。
では sound of drinking いきましょうね。
これはそんなにないかなと思ったけど、結構ありましたね。
えっとね、ゴクゴク。
ゴクゴク。
ゴクゴク飲みます。
赤ちゃんはミルクをゴクゴク飲みます。
あー、なるほど。
僕たちもジュースをゴクゴク飲みます。
あー、オッケー。
And just one drink then, it's ゴクリ。
ゴクリ。
と飲みます。
And there is a famous drink called ゴクリ。
Oh, really?
Yeah, I like ゴクリ.
What kind of a drink is it?
Grapefruit juice and maybe grape juice as well.
There are several kinds, but I like that grapefruit juice, ゴクリ, tastes really good.
Okay.
Yeah.
I drink it like many years ago, but last year I went to Japan and then I purchased like ゴクリ and it was still good.
So I confirm like, oh, it's still good.

Then クー。
クーと飲む。
So it's usually for sake.
And, you know, sake using like small cup and some people drink it in one time.

あー、なるほど。
Yeah, people use like クーと飲む。
これどのくらいの人が使うか僕はわからないんですが、
結構な人がクーと飲むって言うんですけど、
もしかしたらこのクーと飲む人たちは少しエルダーな人たちかも。
あー、なるほど。
若い人がクーって飲むっていう感じはしないんですけど、
で、でもコマーシャルがあって、
This is another brand for drink.
Oh, really?
Name クー。
クー。
Yeah.
And that one is I think using like this sound クー。
Right.
Yeah, Q-O-O.
So クー。
So, especially some people drink something and if that is like really good, they say like クー。
Ah, and meも人間はクー。
そしてビールを飲むときはグッグッグッ、プシャー。
クーって言って、プシャーとかね。
そういう音です。
あとはガブガブと飲むは、すごいたくさん飲む。ビールをガブガブ飲む。
あとは犬はピチャピチャと飲みますね。
水をちょっとなめてるような音はピチャピチャと言いますね。
これが sounds of drinking こんな感じですね。
もっとあるかもしれないですけど、僕はまあこのくらいかなと思いました。
なのでちょっとこのサウンドは日本語にとってとても大事ですので覚えてください。
飲む音の表現
で、人に何かを伝えるときにこの擬音語を使うととてもいいので、僕文章を作ってきました。
目を閉じて聞いてみてください。
お母さんが料理を作ってます。
水がさーっと流れて、ジャブジャブ洗って、トントントンとまな板の上で何かを作っています。
ジューという焼く音がして、カタカタとフライパンをゆする音がします。
ふわーっと良い香りがしてきました。
で、まあここの音はすごく違うんですが、そのイメージは完璧。
完璧でした。ああ良かった。
とてもこれでいろんなことを伝えることができますね。
