This is TEK TALKS by 松田干城.
Good evening, what's up?
This is干城.
Long weekend.
I just finished my 3-day break.
Today, I was forced to take a day off from all the public facilities and schools in Boston.
It's minus 10 degrees outside.
How hot is it?
It's like a blizzard.
It was tough.
This weekend.
First of all,
when the snowstorm comes,
there are a lot of supermarkets and shopping malls.
It's going to be a big traffic jam.
It starts on Friday evening.
On Saturday,
there was a debut match between a 22-year-old Peruvian amateur Muay Thai athlete.
He was like a spring in his body.
He has a physical ability that has been trained in the mountainous area of Peru.
His debut match ended in a black star.
It's a shame.
As a second,
he came from Japan.
He was originally an international student.
He didn't mean to eat in a fighting game.
He didn't mean to eat in a fighting game.
He was so talented that he wanted to go to the UFC.
And he was so handsome.
But he lost the match.
He was so stiff that I thought his legs were broken.
But he seemed to be safe.
After the match,
he said,
I really helped you during the fight camp.
I felt that what you said was really necessary.
I was very happy.
I think I misheard him.
He said he wanted to give his grandmother's chocolate as a gift.
He was so excited.
He said it in English.
He gave me a chocolate.
When I ate the chocolate,
it was the best chocolate in my life.
I was surprised.
I didn't think it was delicious, but I was surprised.
I reacted like that.
The chocolate was delicious.
In the second round,
there was a 26-year-old Guatemalan.
He was my right-hand man.
I was his assistant.
I had a dinner with him at a Mexican restaurant nearby.
I said,
I'll treat you to a meal.
It was a Japanese-style meal.
After the meal,
we had a Peruvian self-reflection meeting.
He was in a good mood.
He said he wanted to drink margarita.
I said,
I'll give you some water.
He drank margarita.
After the self-reflection meeting,
we had a drink.
It was a private conversation.
He groomed his pet.
Do you know?
He cut and shampooed his rich pet's hair.
He worked in such a place.
He also taught soccer to 9 or 10-year-old children.
Then,
the conversation became like a child's education.
Recently,
He is a Japanese Z generation.
9 or 10-year-old children are Z generation.
Then,
He said,
Kids these days are bad.
He said,
Kids these days are bad.
They don't listen to me at all.
They have little concentration.
He said,
Is it because of TikTok?
He said,
He seems to have accumulated his daily stress.
He was drunk with a machine gun talk.
He said,
I'm talking a lot.
Then,
He said,
I'm not a child anymore.
He said,
I'm a child again.
He said,
It's not like it's a gesture, it's love.
It's like that in English too.
But there were really some kids who were really rude.
And the Gatemalan guy was really angry.
He said, you can't talk like that.
I told him that I taught him how to do it, and he came all the way to the gym by bike from a little far away.
And when the match was about to start, he said it was going to snow, but he didn't come by bike.
So I told him I'd send him home, and I took him to his house in a car.
And then, he was so excited.
I think it's probably cute for him to have a child like that.
He's a second-generation immigrant who has a Guatemalan parent.
So I thought it would be like this if his children grew up like that.
So I did some simulations.
And when I was a kid, I told him a lot of things.
One day, my friend asked me why my mom was speaking English, and I told him that she wasn't a native speaker.
He asked me if I've ever heard my mom's English so embarrassing.
No, I haven't.
But I was told that I've been made fun of a lot.
I was like, wow, really?
I was wondering if my children would be like that in the future, and I was listening to them.
But you know, I used to teach kids martial arts classes a long time ago.
There was 311, right?
At that time, I graduated from university and did as much as I could in martial arts.
But I didn't know how many more years I'd be in America.
When I got back to Japan, my dream was to open a Japanese branch of the gym I was in at the time.
It wasn't a training camp, but I did a martial arts seminar once a month.
How much was the fee?
It was about $10.
I collected the fee and sent it to the 311 fund.
At that time, various families and children from Japanese middle-class families came.
I used to teach kids martial arts classes.
My experience at that time was very useful.
Children's lives at home are just like that.
The man on the right is a 26-year-old Z generation.
Even if he is said to be a 36-year-old plus 10 year old, he is calm compared to the Z generation of the same generation.
I thought it was interesting.
He teaches children who are much younger than him, but he himself becomes a calm being.
I don't think he hates children.
When I teach him various things, he says,
Oh, this kid really wants attention.
Oh, this kid is thinking about something different.
His eyes, gestures, etc.
I don't know what martial arts is, but I feel the sense and insight of martial arts.
After the match, I sent him home by car.
I wonder what will happen to my child.
I wonder if I should teach him martial arts.
I wonder how to live in America.
I wonder if they should learn martial arts.
I wonder what the best education is.
In the end, what I talked about with him is that the basics are important.
It's natural to do what's natural.
I don't know what to say.
First of all, I'm the one who teaches soccer.
Most of them hate running.
They say,
It doesn't make sense if you can't run when you play soccer.
When I teach kids soccer, I run around with them.
I show them that I can move more than they do.
If I don't do that, they won't listen to me at all.
I said,
I was told that a teacher from a poor school in America teaches sports.
I was like, really?
I respect him as a teacher.
But sometimes when he teaches, I get nervous.
I said, what do you mean?
He's a fighter.
He overcomes a lot of things.
He does what's natural.
Martial arts is a long journey.
You can quit anytime.
Welcome to the harsh world of martial arts.
But still,
He doesn't teach basic things like one-two.
He teaches me everything in the first tryout class.
He shows me the whole forest.
I think it's great.
But I'm really curious about one thing.
Especially college kids.
I'm a college student.
There are students who come to my class for trial lessons.
They say they want attention before learning martial arts.
I said, no, no, no.
They said, you're here because you want to learn martial arts.
I said, no, no, no.
They grew up watching YouTube.
They don't take unnecessary communication.
I said, if you have a question, just ask me.
But they don't listen to me.
I said, what do you mean?
They said, what should I do?
I said, you have to pay attention.
They said, I don't understand.
That's the story.
I thought it was a generation gap.
But...
Americans seem to have no upper and lower relations.
He took care of himself.
He said, I think you should do this more.
He said, thank you for sending me home with a little alcohol.
He talked to me.
I learned a lot from him.
Then I thought about what I could do for my students.
I didn't get enough sleep.
Yesterday, the next day, Sunday,
before Blizzard comes,
I went to a local supermarket.
It's a store that sells gluten-free ramen.
It's open for only two hours.
I guess it's open for more than two hours now.
Mr. Onishi and I went to Boston.
We started a start-up with Mr. Tadeki after the successful ramen business in Boston.
It's a gluten-free ramen brand run by Mr. Kenmin, famous for grilled beef.
It's called G.F. Ramen.
It's vegan pork bone.
It's plant-based.
They only use plant-based ingredients.
I was like, what the hell is pork bone?
I sold pork bone ramen to a store and sold ramen to Americans.
Then I went home in the blizzard.
Today, Boston forced shutdown.
It was a snowy weekend.
I had a lot of energy.
I had a lot of energy.
I had a lot of energy.
I had a lot of energy.
It's snowing.
It's snowing.
I ate the best chocolate in the world.
I thought the basics were important.
It was such a random weekend.
I heard it's getting colder in Japan.
Please be careful of influenza.
Good night.
