Hi there, I'm Asu, a working professional in my 40s with two kids.
My motto is low risk, moderate return.
In this program, I share tips and daily insights on how to keep both your mind and body healthy,
while enjoying parenting and work, just like chatting with friends.
Feel free to relax and enjoy listening.
Today, I want to talk about why I want to learn English.
So, why are you studying English?
One of the reasons I got interested in learning English was because I wanted to know more about the people and cultures that use the language.
I want to share a story about the time when I really felt how awesome it is to be able to speak English.
This is from my university days when I went on a language exchange program to the UK.
I wanted a real life opportunity to use English, so I decided to study abroad.
During my time there, I made friends from all over the world.
Spain, Italy, Germany, Paris, China, Korea, and even the son of an Arab billionaire all through English.
I was amazed at how powerful English is as a language.
I mean, you can communicate with people without having to learn their native language.
When we think about English conversation, we often picture chatting with native speakers.
But, did you know that only about 25% of English speakers are native speakers?
If you learn English, you can communicate with 1 in 5 people around the world.
English is a communication tool that connects you with people globally and broadens your horizons.
Though it's a bit tricky in Japan, we should definitely try to find more opportunities to use English in practice.
Thanks for listening until the end.
So, see you next time!
