What is money, really?
A piece of paper. A number on a screen. An agreement between millions of strangers that somehow determines what we can eat, where we can live, how we spend our time — and, sometimes, whether we survive.
But then comes the stranger question:
How did a civilization capable of producing extraordinary abundance become one where a person could work all day and still struggle to afford a meal, while another could accumulate millions through ownership, capital or financial claims?
This isn't a simple story about the rich and the poor. Markets create extraordinary value. Entrepreneurs build extraordinary things. Investment fuels progress. Hard work matters.
But somewhere along the way, humanity allowed financial wealth to become entangled with political power, social status and even our understanding of human worth.
So what happens when a future civilization looks back at all of this?
Perhaps it won't laugh at money itself.
Perhaps it will laugh at how seriously we took it.
