おじいちゃんのズーム飲み会
Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
Hello, hello.
You know, on the...
There was one content creator,
quote-unquote content creator, that went viral.
It's...
It's a group of おじいちゃんおじいちゃん
that are doing ズーム飲み会
Oh, I know that.
You know that too?
Yeah.
On YouTube, right?
Yeah.
I saw that.
I forgot what the...
何とか中
Yeah.
It just popped out into my YouTube algorithm like a month, two months ago.
Suddenly, I was like, who is those guys?
And I just clicked it.
And I just watched it for like three minutes.
And I was like, oh, I understand how it goes and how people see it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
いわちゅう
いわちゅう
いわちゅう
I forget the name.
Right.
I thought that was so like, it's funny.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So for those of you who do not know,
it's a group of 中学生、同級生
Now they're おじいちゃん ages.
They're still doing the online のびかい, Zoom のびかい.
And I guess one of them just uploads it on YouTube randomly.
I don't think any of them know that it's public out there.
I guess it's just, I don't know how that happens.
For them, just for memories that they can look back on.
Right.
I guess they meant to do it privately or something, but it's public.
And now people can see it.
And now the video has like almost 100 百万 views.
That's big, yeah.
And it's just おじいちゃん talking over the Zoom calls.
And it's just, it is so interesting to me.
Yeah, it's like,
ああ、しげぞうさんはまだかね。
Six windows and just
何かしてるんじゃないか。
待ってますか。
And then like, the しげぞうさん comes in and like
ああ、お待たせ。
That's funny.
It's funny.
It's very funny.
I found that out.
And it was so funny.
I went to his channel.
And there were like several Zoom meetings
for such a, I don't know, like very long time.
And so it's very heartwarming.
Oh, yeah.
How they continue to do that.
Right, right, right.
And it's like, you know,
they've been friends since middle school.
That's great.
It's great that they're still, you know,
friends and doing Zoom calls.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And it's like from the,
for like the very beginning,
they were like, I don't know,
like nine, eight, nine or ten.
Yeah.
And then sometimes getting like four, five,
and then just six.
And it's also like kind of a story, you know,
like they,
Oh, they passed away.
Maybe, maybe, but you know.
Yeah, right.
Still reunite and talk about things.
Right.
It's very, it's like a documentary.
I know, right?
Of people's lives.
It's interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
One of the best thing in the internet.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah, it was like heartwarming.
The real thing.
Right, right.
It's not, it's not tailored for anybody.
Right.
Right.
Yeah.
ズームの難しさ
The thing about Zoom calls,
that doesn't happen anymore.
The Zoom, Zoom nomikai.
Right.
I mean, it popped during COVID.
It's not here anymore.
Right.
Yeah.
Gone away.
Yeah.
I guess they are living far away from each other.
Those ojichans maybe.
Oh, true.
Or like difficult to get together.
Maybe due to health conditions.
Yeah.
True.
So that's, it's very convenient for them.
That's true.
They are very happy about it.
That's why they're continuing even after COVID.
Yeah.
Ah, we can meet like this.
That's so great.
Yeah.
That's so great.
It's good.
True.
Did you do like Zoom nomikai during the COVID situation?
You know, I think I've only done one.
Once.
I think, yeah.
How was it?
Yeah, once, twice.
Once, twice.
Yeah.
Not a great experience.
Nothing at all.
I didn't like that.
It's just, it's kind of awkward.
Yeah.
You know, one person's talking and no one else can talk.
Right.
It's just, yeah.
So I don't like the web meeting from the beginning.
Oh, like even those business meetings?
Yeah, I don't like that because it's like you cannot talk at the same time.
Like, you know, I have to wait.
Somebody's talking and just, should I go?
Like, oh, yeah, somebody's talking.
Those things I have to like be very carefully like think about people.
I don't like that.
Is that easier for you?
If it's an offline meeting, does that change?
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, like on this table.
Well, first of all, I'm very bad at meetings.
You don't like business meetings to begin with?
Yeah, not only like business meetings, but like all kinds of meetings.
Okay, okay.
So I don't, it's not I like or I don't like it.
I'm very bad at it.
What do you mean you're bad at it?
I'm very bad at saying my opinion and at the same time thinking the people's like goals.
会議の難しさ
Okay.
And I have to merge it and say something, right?
And I don't, I'm very bad at it.
If it's like 1v1, I can, I have my time.
You have your own time.
It's like, it's like, it's a conversation.
Okay.
But it's like, if it's like a meeting and it's like, I have to.
There's like five players.
Yeah, it's like, it's like, you know, like, yeah, I don't, I'm very bad at it.
So like, you have to think about all the other people.
Yeah.
You don't want to, you don't want to go off course so much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Even though I have like my opinion, I'm not sure if this fits to everybody.
I see.
And then topic goes like different things.
Okay.
And just start thinking about it.
That's, I'm very bad at it.
Okay.
But you know, like, you know, there's like in the meetings, I don't speak that much.
Like, I have to.
Well, okay.
How about, how about, I don't know if you've done this, but like group meetings for your
projects, like your music project.
I'm sure that changes.
Right?
Because.
Well, still.
Still, you're kind of like, yeah, I'm not very good at meetings.
There's friction here?
Yeah, yeah.
Okay.
But for like those things, this is my project.
I have like a, I don't know, like, like I have a permission of say things.
Right.
Right?
Because that is me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're kind of like the project owner.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You're paying for it.
Right, right, right.
I can kind of say whatever I want.
Like, I have a permission because this is my project.
Right.
You have your rights.
Yeah.
So this is me.
Okay.
Okay.
But still, I'm very bad at meetings.
プロジェクトと役割
I knew it since I was, I don't know, very young.
Really?
Yeah, from high school, I guess.
But you're very much a team player though, right?
You were, you know, you played soccer.
Yeah.
You were captain there.
I mean, our circle was a team game.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You were very much a team player.
Well, yeah, I'm a team player, but I'm bad at meetings.
I don't know how that plays out, man.
I don't know how that matches.
But you feel it.
You feel it.
And I know it.
Yes.
Okay.
Yeah.
And I feel like you're very good at meetings.
You sometimes, I know you sometimes hesitate things, but you're very kind of, I would say
you're very brave to question things or ask things that you don't understand.
Oh, really?
You're brave enough to stop the meeting, kind of.
And that's something I feel like that's a very, very good thing.
Something I cannot do.
Yeah, it's a great thing.
Remember that moment when we were doing our meeting with the book publisher?
Oh, yeah.
And then the book publisher was like, so it was your guys' turn.
And so did you guys think about the, you guys had the ball.
Did you guys think about it?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then you didn't think about it.
And then we were like, shit, we forgot.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right, right, right.
What was going through y'all's mind when that happened?
Because, like, I thought Kakichan was going to kick in and be like, hey, I forgot.
But, like, he didn't.
Yeah, so I was waiting for that.
I thought he was the main kind of role.
And so I was waiting for that.
Oh, you don't say anything.
So maybe I have to, I should say.
Oh, maybe I should say.
And then you said it.
You said it.
会議の重要性
Yeah, so.
OK.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I reeled that moment.
Yeah, I do.
Me too.
What was going on in your mind?
Yeah, exactly the same thing.
Exactly the same thing.
I was like.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
Right.
It's a really, meetings give off a very special and a different dynamic, you know.
It does.
It really does.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I understand how.
Yeah.
But honestly, I feel like meeting is something very, very important when you do something.
Obviously, right?
Yeah.
So I want to know the tips.
To do a meeting?
Like, honestly.
Honest?
OK.
Like, it's a serious one.
Like, I remember when I was, I guess I was a middle schooler.
I bought a book.
OK.
About, like, how to meet.
Really?
Yeah.
Middle schooler?
Yeah, because I was the captain.
And then I was, I felt like, well, I'm not good at, like, doing meetings.
Damn.
And I bought, like, how to speak in front of people.
Like, how to.
Really?
How to.
What the fuck?
Look.
Look, for me.
OK.
Publicly speaking in front of people.
Yeah.
And, like, doing Zatsudans.
Yeah.
I've never seen anyone as good as you.
No, no, thank you.
But, no.
Honestly.
Yeah.
Well, thankfully, those, like, Zatsudans and public speaking gets better, I guess, by those,
like, the little trainings and everything.
Yeah.
会議への苦手意識
But, like, business meetings, it's very new.
And I'm still terrible at it.
And I know it.
Yeah.
I still don't know how to do it, like, team, like, those things.
I don't know.
I don't know how to.
I don't know how.
I mean, I, you know, I guess I've never struggled on that.
No, that's good.
Yeah.
That's good.
That's good.
I was very, so, for example, like, shukatsu.
Yeah.
I also didn't get a mensetsu.
Mensetsu, I'm very bad at it.
Yeah.
Mensetsu, I don't, I just, that was very easy for me.
You didn't have to think about it.
Nothing at all.
I didn't prepare anything for mensetsu.
Yeah.
But the group discussion.
Okay.
You're bad at it?
No.
I couldn't do anything.
If group discussion happens, I knew I, it's finished.
Did you ever go through, like, did you ever success, succeeded in it?
I don't think so.
Oh, so all of the group meetings that you attended, you, they gave you a no?
So, I just did group, I just once.
Oh, you only did it once?
Yeah.
I only did one group discussion.
Okay.
学生時代の経験
But, you know, not only those, but when we were, like, college students, we had many
gurudisu.
Yeah, gurudisu.
Gurudisu classes and everything.
Yeah.
I failed everything.
I didn't.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Every, no, I, oh, that was bad memory.
How about your circle?
You know, you were the kanbu.
Yeah.
You were the kanbu.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And you had to do a lot of meetings.
Right, right.
But I wasn't the meeting leader.
Oh, the other daikyo was.
You know, the assistant, the vice daikyo.
Yeah.
She was very good at meeting things and, like, doing it.
I get her.
Yeah, yeah.
So, we talked.
Okay.
And then did a meeting.
Okay.
And she did everything smoothly and just, you know.
Oh, okay.
I see.
That was kind of role.
Oh, okay.
That was how we did it.
I see.
So, I need somebody like that.
Honestly.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So, sometimes I'm very...
I see you in the meetings and, like, oh, how good he is.
Really?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
I see.
It's like, yeah.
I would say you're very brave to...
Am I?
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I don't know.
I don't know.
That's good.
Which part of that I'm doing it.
It's very good.
Thank you for saying that.
Yeah.
Okay.
You must have had a lot of meetings during your shakaijin as well.
Like your ryokou daibutsu.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That must have been difficult, too, I guess.
Right, right, right.
Yeah.
If I don't have any, like, specific roles, I don't know what should I do, kind of.
I don't know, like, what...
Sure.
You know, I don't know who should I, like, be with.
Or, like, I don't know, like, you know.
You were, like, never like a go viral on social media want to kind of guy, right?
What do you mean?
You never had interest in going viral on the internet, right?
So, I guess it's natural to, like, not have any opinions on a certain meeting.
And I guess that makes sense.
Oh, those, like...
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
For example, the...
Right, right, right, right, right.
True.
I mean, if I were in, like, I don't know, like, women's bra meeting, I would not have anything to say.
Like, I would be very...
I would be lost.
I guess it's kind of similar to that, I guess.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
True, true.
Like, I don't know, like, I think we should make it laced.
I don't know what to say.
Yeah, well, maybe you have certain, like, very strong opinion, maybe.
But, like, because I don't, that makes it a lot harder for me to sort of, like...
True, true.
To make up an opinion, I guess.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I guess that's a similar sort of...
True, that one.
Yeah, true, true.
Right, true.
Yeah.
Yeah.
In general, too, like, if I was, like, 代表, that means, like, I've got permission to...
Because I'm 代表, I can say things.
Okay.
Or, when I was at 会社員, because I was the 後輩, the 後輩-est guy, I know how to act, kind of.
Okay, okay.
You have your 後輩 privilege.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And, you know, I've got my boss, and I am the 後輩, and how to, like...
会議への苦手意識
I know the role.
Okay, okay, okay.
But without those anything, just plain meetings, like, I...
What's my role here, kind of?
Like, yeah, I'm very bad at it.
I see.
I'm very bad at it.
And that's something I want to improve, because if you want to do something big, meetings is necessary.
It is necessary, right?
You know.
It involves other people.
Yeah.
I've been hiding from those meetings, and then just, I do everything by myself.
Oh, I see.
But now I kind of...
You have to face meetings now.
It's not that difficult, though.
Yeah, I don't...
Ah, meetings.
Yeah.
All right, so, thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
