Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
Hello.
This one.
I am not aware.
Can you spell that for me?
It says in Katakana.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Is it near from where you're from?
I am not finding it.
Okay.
Amazon Prime
Reacher.
Okay.
Okay, what about it?
Okay, cool.
Yeah.
I think Forrest Gump was in Georgia.
Oh, really?
Was it?
I don't know.
You've seen Forrest Gump before?
I've read Forrest Gump before,
but I didn't remember that.
Forrest Gump...
Oh, that's not it.
It's Yutasho.
It's Yutasho.
Gone with the Wind.
Oh.
Gone with the Wind.
It's in Georgia.
Right?
Gone with the Wind.
Where?
Oh, it's in Georgia.
But I've never seen this though.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You know, have you seen Gone with the Wind?
I've read it.
You've read it?
Yes.
Okay, okay.
All right.
But yeah,
not France or USA or things like that,
but you know, remember the bullet train?
Yes.
Yeah, I remember, man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I remember bullet train.
Yeah.
We saw it.
We were like, okay, okay.
So that's how they decided to draw Tokyo.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was pretty like, I was pretty westernized.
Yes, yes.
Tokyo, huh?
Yeah.
How they see Tokyo.
Right.
In their minds.
So that was pretty much, pretty interesting.
It was very interesting.
Yeah.
Very interesting.
Very interesting.
The way the bullet train, like Shinkansen goes through,
and I think that was Gifu Maibara was somewhere they stopped,
and then they were like Kiri.
Yes.
And then some sunrise again.
Right, right.
And then you have a Mount Fuji in the background.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
And they were like this moment where I guess Tokyo Shinagawa around there,
like bullet train like goes like that in the middle of Tokyo.
Right.
It's all neon lights.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Man.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Amazing.
I kind of want to see that again.
You know?
Yeah.
I kind of do.
Yeah.
Just to sort of, you know, look back on how they drew Japan.
Right.
You know?
That was, to us that was too much, but for the people,
do you think it's?
Yeah, I guess that's satisfying, you know, to see the aesthetics of Japan.
That's really like, I guess, you know, people for the Japanese lovers, right?
Japan lovers.
It's just satisfying, I guess.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Do you?
Yeah.
For example, like Japanese movies.
I'm not sure if they have, but going to the USA, for example.
And.
Yeah.
Do you find the same thing or?
When I, for example, let's say it's a Japanese drama, right?
Some, the settings and it's a businessman.
Okay.
Right.
The drama is about a Japanese businessman, you know, doing international business.
Right.
And then whenever the Japanese dramas, they bring a, like a foreign English speaking actor.
Yeah.
Or actress into the drama.
Yeah.
And they're like speaking English.
That is so, the English is so unnatural.
It's just so unnatural.
I can't stand it.
Oh, really?
I cannot stand it.
Which side?
Both sides?
The.
The foreigner side.
The foreigner side.
Oh, really?
So, I'm sure the actor, they can speak English naturally, but the script.
Oh.
They have to go by the script word for word.
So, I'm sure that inside their heads, they're like, oh, this is such a weird line.
Oh.
But it's, but they have to do it because, you know.
Yeah, of course, it's the line.
That's their job.
They're actors.
Right.
It's just so unnatural.
So unnatural.
Is it not like grammatically?
So, yeah, it's not grammatically wrong.
It's just, you would not say those things in this situation.
So unnatural.
Yeah.
You know how, it's, I guess it's similar to like, in general, dramas.
Japanese dramas, their serihu is just kind of unnatural.
It's just so dramatized, you know?
Yeah.
It's like, who actually says this in real life?
You see a lot of those.
Right.
It's just like that done in English.
And for me, it just makes it even more weirder.
You don't see, like I've gotten used to the Japanese version, you know, because I see
it so much in dramas.
But the English version, that's just, I've never seen it.
It's just weird.
It's just, yeah.
It's very cringy to watch.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's always those foreigner business guys coming in and then do some deals.
Right, right.
Yeah.
Get it.
I get it.
Like, they call me like, we are from America.
Yeah.
We are here.
We are here because Yamada-san decided to email us.
What the fuck is going on?
I see.
I see.
I see.
It's just so unnatural.
I see.
I, I, yeah.
It's cringy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I'm sure you guys, I'm sure Hollywood does the same with the Japanese actors, you
know?
Right?
I think so.
We do this to each other.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess so.
It's more fun.
Yeah.
I guess.
I guess.
To people.
Yeah.
All right.
Thanks for watching, guys.
Thank you.
Bye.
