コーヒーへの情熱
Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast. Hello guys. Hello.
Yeah, so we talked about the coffees and I'm gonna do, I'm gonna make my own
blend coffee. What? Yeah. Oh, I'm so excited. Yes. Yeah. I love coffee and this has been kind of
my dream. Well, I actually wanted to roast your own beans and I was searching for that guy that
can teach me or like that can do things together and I found one guy, friend of friend,
the roaster and barista. Okay. And he roasts his own beans and he also has like sommelier
wines too. Wow, okay. And we're gonna do that together. Oh shit, yeah. And I was like,
yeah, actually I wanted to do that like roast. I would like to try and like do that adjustment
and try my own taste and he was like, maybe not. Why? Roast is very difficult. Oh, is it? If you
want to do, you can do, but I want you to work hard, study a lot. If you don't, I won't let you
to roast beans. Okay, I see. Okay, maybe not this time then. Okay. But to me, you're already deep
into the coffee world, so I guess. Yeah, but I think the roast is a different level,
different world. I see. Yeah, so I wasn't allowed to roast my own beans, but
he proposed like make own blend, you know, taste beans and like how to blend it and make it my own
like sugar taste, like Sato Kiwi taste blend coffee. That's something I can do.
Oh, okay. You're only allowed to do that. Yes, yes.
Wait, wait, hold on. Wait, but I have a question. Okay, okay. If you, okay, so is it,
you love the taste of the sugary flavor you find inside of coffee, right? Yeah, yeah. If you find
an, let's say you find a bean that has that element. Yeah. How can anything be better than
100% pure of that bean? Like is adding another bean make it better? Like it's just gonna lessen
the sugary taste, won't it? That's a good question. True. So we call it single origin. Okay. That's
like 100% pure this beans kind of. Okay. That can be an option. Okay. If I find like, yes, this is it
and I would like, it won't be like blend, but my choice. Your favorite. Yeah. Yeah. Go-to. Of the
season. Sure. Yeah. So there's two reasons why we blend. One is, you know, coffees are like seasonal
things. Okay. So it's very, even the same beans, it's like, it changed a bit, you know, the taste.
I see. So right now, this was very good, but maybe six months later, it's not the same kind of.
So it's better to, and like no beans is like perfect. So we blend it and like make it like
try to perfect it. So the seasonal thing is one reason. And also, yeah, I love Sato Kibi taste,
コーヒー豆のブレンドとロースト
but also it's not only, you know, Sato Kibi taste, right? It has like a, I want some other elements
too. Sure. Okay. So I just wanted to try that. Oh, got it. You wanted to know along with the
Sato Kibi flavor, what kind of like additional notes you'd like with the coffee. Right. I see.
So I guess if I make two blends, both of them, I keep the Sato Kibi taste, but one would be,
I don't know, very fruity with Sato Kibi. And the other one would be,
I don't know, maybe earthy, yeah, nutty, chocolatey. Yeah. Oh, I see. Yeah.
So what are you going to do? So let's say you find a great balance of the beans you like,
are you going to sell it? What are you going to do? Yeah, I'm going to sell it. Yeah. Maybe you're
going to sell it. Yeah. But yeah, I just want to buy it and just want to drink. You just want it
for your own. Originally, I wanted to roast as an experience. I see. Ultimately, your goal is to
roast. Yeah. Can't you buy a roaster? Is it viable? Yes, I can. Is it viable? Yes. How big is it?
It depends on the, it depends. Okay. You can have like very small, like fry pan sized,
which you can do at your house. Very manageable. Yeah. But it's difficult at the same time. I'm
sure the quality is low. Yeah. And also it's difficult to move around. Yeah. The beans has
to be very evenly roasted. I see. So maybe, I don't know, I've never done that before, but like
shaking all the time or like, I don't know. Yeah. Well, you have like big roaster machine.
Yeah. Like the Starbucks roast free. Yeah. It's massive. Yeah. It's like you got like a
airway, like rails and everything. Yeah. It's like Charlie's Chocolate Factory.
Bean version, right? Yeah. I don't know what are those. Yeah. But yeah, some of them are like
automatically like organized by the computer inside. And wow. It's just like a
Sure. You put your
and then you set up, I don't know, temperatures and times and everything and how to, it's like a
recipe. Yeah. When to this temperature and like, like this and curve and everything. You set up
program kind of. Okay. Okay. And you push button and that's it kind of. Yeah. That must be like
the highest end of it all. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So yeah. You're not going to go for like the medium
manageable roaster or something? I'm thinking about it. Are you thinking about it? Yes. Yeah.
How much are we going to, how much is that going to cost you?
I'd say the, no, no, no, for the roaster, right? For the roaster. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
I was, as a joke, I was going to say, no, no, no. What? Yeah. It's that expensive.
ロースターのサイズと価値
Some of them, like, you know, they're like a vintage roaster machine.
It's the value of a vintage roast. I mean, it's not fashion, right? Yeah. Yeah. Wouldn't it be
better if it's newer? It doesn't. No, it's not necessarily new as a better. Yeah. It's like
that's crazy. Or even like close to 10 million. What? Yeah. They sell 10 million roasters? Yeah.
Yeah. What the fuck? Yeah. Wait, how big is a 100 million roaster? I think like this big.
Well, it depends. It depends on the, you know, machine. Okay. The companies and everything,
but it's like a size of a refrigerator. Like a family size refrigerator. Yeah. A little bit wider.
Yeah. The shapes are different, but yeah. Yeah. A little bit wider. Maybe twice as big. Double the width
of a family size refrigerator. That thing's huge. Where the fuck are you going to place that shit?
That thing's huge. You need a room for that. Yeah. You need a dedicated room for that. Oh my god.
Wow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. But yeah, you can buy like 50 million roasters. I think that's
decent. But um, okay. Yeah. But your dream, you could go up to as high as 100 million. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Damn. Yeah. Wow. But I'm so debutant, so immature, immature. Yeah. I have no knowledge on
roasting world. So yeah. I just wanted to try once before buying the real one. But yeah,
absolutely. But yeah, the roaster guy didn't, you know, allow you. Yeah.
Wow. It's a shocker. Yeah. How much, how much, how much do you think his roaster is?
That his roaster? Yeah. I don't know, but pretty decent one, right? Yeah. I think
pretty, I think 100 million. You know how these, there are cafes where they roast their coffees?
Yeah. How much, how much are those roasters? I think about 500,000 yen.
Okay. So, okay. Yeah. See, you can, you can just see like small, smallest ones, like
300,000 yen, 500,000 yen. 500,000 yen. Yeah. Yeah. So these are the pro-use, I guess. Okay.
Okay. Okay. And that's it. Yeah. Damn. Right. Yeah. It's, it's like that. Wow. It's crazy.
ローストの頻度と設備
It's crazy. And also you don't use this like every day. Oh yeah? Yeah. You don't roast beans every
day. It's like, yeah, I guess once a month or twice. Oh, that's it? Yeah. Wow. Okay. So it's,
so there are some coffee shops that shares. Hmm. Makes sense. Yeah. Completely. Yeah. Makes sense.
Right. Can you plug that in like the 100 volt shit? I don't know. Is that going to work? Maybe not.
Maybe 200 volts? Yeah. It looks fucking massive. Yeah. Right. Right. I've never, I've never thought
about that, but it must be something different. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. See, it says,
That's, oh, it's crazy. That is so crazy. And also you have to buy beans. Right. To begin with.
Right. And I'm, I'm assuming you have to buy beans and like. This massive size. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's
like two kilos. Right, right. No, like 300 grams. Yeah, right. Yeah.
So it's a lot of beans. Yeah, it's massive. Yeah. It's a lot of beans. So like, they're aiming to sell their machines to fucking, you know, massive coffee houses.
Yeah. Yeah. Wow. But yeah, it's like that. It's like that. It's interesting.
Quick question. How long does it take to roast? Um, just, I don't know, but within two hours,
I guess. It's not that long. I see. Once it's fixed. I see. But before that, you have to try
temperatures and times and every everything. You need so many trials. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Right. Okay. But once it's fixed, I guess it's not that long. One hour, one hour and a half. Yeah.
I see. Or even within an hour. I see. Interesting. All right. Thanks for listening guys. Thank you.
新たなビジネスアイデア
I'm open for the invest. Oh, okay. Invest. What I was thinking though. Yeah. What I was, so
completely different from this. Yeah. Okay. I was thinking about this business. Okay. What if,
here, I have a, this is a business plan. I got to pitch a business. Okay. Okay. Okay.
Tell me if it's good or not. On the next episode. Okay. A lot of teaser.
