Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hey guys. How's it going?
How's your week been, man?
Yeah.
Good. Great.
It's good, man. It's good.
I was wondering about this one thing for the wholeweek.
So, question of the day.
You know, sometimes when you go to bathrooms,
there's a lock. Usually there's a lock, right? Inrestaurants.
Oh, okay.
No, like, public. You have, like, so many numbersof, like, rooms.
Oh, no. No, like, you know, at a bakery.
Yeah, let's say at a bakery or something, right?Like a cafe or something.
There's a toilet, right? And then, um...
It's a man and woman's, you know, they're bothusable bathrooms, right?
It's lockable, right?
And sometimes what you find is that
the first door, first lockable door you enter,
you find the hand wash and sink, right?
And then, you know, beyond that, there's anotherlockable door for the stalls,
you know, where you poop and, you know, shit, right?
And then, so there's two lockable doors.
I see, yeah.
So my question is, question of the day for you,
is do you lock the first lockable door when you'reinside or no?
Okay, that's a good question.
You know, because it doesn't really make sense tome.
See, my reasoning would be like, my logic is like,
if there's a second lockable door,
that means I should open the first door
so that people who just want to wash their handscan wash their hands.
But, like, what if there's a woman inside thatstall
and I was washing hands and that's very awkward, right?
So, like, woman's right, right?
What would you do in that situation?
So, yes, I feel the same way.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, every time I have two lockable doors,
I'm questioning to myself, like, should I lockthis first one or leave it open
so that everyone can just come in and wash theirhand and just go out?
Yeah.
So, but I think in average, in general, I think Ilocked both of them.
Both doors? Yeah.
Yeah, I think.
I mean, yeah.
Overall, I think I do that more.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
Because, like, the second door, like, yeah,
most of the cases, I feel, like, from the firstdoor,
you enter into a toilet.
Oh, yeah, like a private, like, area.
It feels like you're inside.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Even though they have, like, second door.
It's like a ladies' room now, right, after thefirst door.
Right, right, right, right, right, right.
So, yeah, that's what I do.
But I understand, maybe if you leave it open, thefirst door,
03:04
then everyone, people can just come in and washtheir hand.
I don't know, like, look the mirror, maybe.
But, like, I'm, you know, the reason why Iultimately lock both doors
is because, like, it would be so awkward.
When I get out, and if a woman was, like, standingthere,
it would be very awkward.
So, like, I lock both doors, too.
Me, too.
But, like, so when I do that, I'm, like, am I notbeing polite, like, you know,
because it's, like, I was wondering what everyonewas doing, you know.
But I lock both of them, I guess, I think, yeah.
A few months ago, I went to a very fancy bar.
Okay.
And they have bathroom, they have toilet.
And that was, like, so that's woman, man, samebathroom.
Okay.
But it was, I would say, big.
No, like, they have, I think, three koshitsu.
Sure.
And you have, like, a long mirror.
Okay.
And you have long hand-washing, like, place.
Okay.
I think three, what, jaguichis.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And so, in the first door, it's not lockable.
Okay.
So, you get inside.
Right.
You see three koshitsu.
Okay.
You see the mirror and, you know, the places, like, three balls.
And when I get inside, there were two, like, very, you know, those fancy bars, like, very fancyladies chatting.
In front of the mirror?
Yeah.
And, like, do some, like, make settings andeverything.
My God.
Yeah.
And I think there were three, three ladies.
Okay.
And two were in front of the mirror.
And one was inside.
Okay.
And I was, first of all, I was very surprised.
Yeah.
That feels illegal.
Yeah.
Like, is it?
Oh, shit.
Isn't it, like, oh, can I, am I supposed to behere?
But it's like that.
It's...
You weren't doing anything wrong.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It was supposed to be like that.
That's also my place.
That feels illegal.
Yeah.
And I was like, oh, hi.
You just made it creepier and creepier, right, just by saying that.
Yeah, but it was more natural to me, at least havesome conversation with them, because it was like,if I ignore them, like, they looked at me, andthen, huh, and then, like, if I ignore them, like,I look more creepy.
I see, I see.
06:00
So, I say, like, oh, hey, like, pretending that Icare.
You're confident.
Yeah, like, oh, hi.
I see, I see.
But I guess I was like, oh, hi.
Inside, you were, like, trying to look confident, but from the outside, it was, yeah.
Yeah, and I got inside the bathroom, the koshitsu, and then I did my thing.
But while I was doing thing, hearing theyspeaking, like, having conversations, and I waslike, oh, hi.
That is so weird.
Yeah, that was very strange.
That is so weird.
I didn't feel comfortable at all.
And, yeah, I tried very hard to make no noise.
I mean, I would do the same thing, man.
That water drip is just so awkward, man.
There better be a utahime.
What was it called?
Utahime?
Otohime.
Otohime?
Yeah, definitely.
Definitely.
Did they have one?
No, no.
I was so concentrated, like, making no noise atall, and try our hardest.
You gotta hit the edge of the sink.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Don't make no noise.
Yeah, and then I got out, and those two ladieswere still there.
Okay.
And I, you know, I washed my hand, and then I hada conversation with them a little bit.
My God, that's awkward.
Yeah.
What did you talk about?
No, it's just...
It's there to talk about, man.
I think they were, like, very...
They didn't feel anything.
Like, they were, like, very natural that having mein the same bathroom.
And they were like, oh, hey.
They were chill?
Yeah.
And they were like, oh, hey.
Kind of either.
So I was like, oh, hi.
And then I said, I think your dress is very coolor something like that.
Gorgeous or something like that.
And then they were like, oh, thank you.
You look great, too.
And we had, you know, those conversations.
Sure.
Yeah.
And then just have a great night.
And yeah, they were, I guess, I don't know.
Like, they spoke half English and half Japanese.
So...
I see.
Yeah.
I think we talked in English.
And then, yeah, I said, have a great day, have agreat night, and just leave the place.
But it was...
I mean, I guess that was a great choice to, youknow, have a conversation with them.
I think I did my best.
Right.
Looking back at it, you know?
I was like, what was it?
I mean, there was also a possibility of thatturning out to be a huge disaster, right?
Like, you know, you might have been a huge creep, you know?
Thank God it worked out.
Yeah, it was so strange.
All right.
God, that should be illegal.
Yeah.
That layout.
Right.
I didn't feel comfortable at all.
09:01
Yeah.
Terrible, terrible.
Bathroom situation.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, I was thinking, you know, sometimes at acafe, sometimes, you know, how the question
is different, but, like, in the center, there's,like, only one hand-washing place, and, like,
sometimes you, you know, get out at the same time, and you're like, oh, shit, like, go ahead.
I thought that was illegal, but, like, afterlistening to that, my God, it's nothing.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
My God, wow.
It's crazy.
Okay.
Yeah, you should visit once.
Okay.
I'd have to really, you know, gear up to be verysocial.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
