Dear little me, while cleaning out a box in theattic today, I found a folded sheet of paper
covered in oversized pencil letters. It was a noteyou wrote after our very first trip to the zoo.
You had written about seeing a giant panda. Thesentences were simple. It was eating,
it looked happy, I want to come back someday.Reading those words made me smile before I even
realized why. I could suddenly remember the wholeday. Standing on tiptoe because the crowd was too
tall, holding someone's hand so tightly that myfingers hurt, waiting patiently, hoping the panda
would look our way just once. And then there itwas. It wasn't doing anything extraordinary,
it simply sat beneath the trees, slowly chewingbamboo as if the world had nowhere else to be.
For some reason, that was enough. You didn't needfireworks or loud excitement,
you found wonder in watching something peaceful.18 years have passed since then. Life has become
busier than either of us could have imagined. Butreading your little note reminded me that
happiness was never hidden in extraordinarymoments. Sometimes, it quietly waited inside an
ordinary afternoon. Thank you for writing it down.Because of you, I was able to visit that day again
without leaving my room. I hope the part of youthat could stop and admire something so simple
never completely disappears from me. If I everfind myself standing in front of another panda
someday, I hope I won't be looking through acamera first. I hope I'll simply stand there,
