Why kimonocafetokyo?
Hi, I'm Mamakoro.
Welcome to kimonocafetokyo.
Today, I want to tell you why I chose this name.
Why kimono? Why a cafe? And why Tokyo?
My mother loved kimono. She taught me how beautiful it is.
When I was 20, I learned how to put one on by myself.
And I wanted to share that joy with my friends.
So 10 years ago, I started something small. I called it a kimono cafe.
It wasn't a real cafe. It was a gathering.
I taught my friends how to wear kimono. And together, we went out. We had tea. We laughed a lot.
Later, I moved to Tokyo. I thought, I'll open a kimono cafe here too.
But the pandemic came.
I couldn't meet new friends.
And soon, I had to move again. I'm not trying to make that dream come true anymore.
That's why I kept the name Tokyo in my brand, kimonocafetokyo.
To hold on to what I once hoped for.
