A 64-year-old male office worker from Numata City fell victim to a "social media investment/romance scam." According to police, in late February of this year, the man received a message on social media from someone claiming to be an investor's assistant, who explained that "institutional investors have an advantage in stock trading" and also showed him documents from an actual asset management company. Between March and July, the man transferred cash via internet banking to a designated account nine times. However, when he was unable to withdraw cash from the designated account, he became suspicious and contacted police and others, only to realize he had been scammed.
