Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Hello!
Good morning.
10.30!
It's been a while since we've done a podcast this early.
True.
We used to do this podcast recording on this time.
That's true.
You either come to my place or I come to your place.
Right, I remember.
10? From 10?
Yeah, from 10. True.
Remember that.
If we get our studio, do you want to do it at the studio or here?
Oh, our studio.
Our studio?
I mean...
We're going to have to think about that.
Yeah, true.
It's probably better if you do it at our place, right?
We could keep our settings the way it is.
We have to test you every time, I guess.
Okay.
But maybe we have to record Amazon Pluses in this room.
Right. Maybe.
Why don't we bring this in?
We should bring that, yeah.
We should cut this out.
We should cut out this part of the sofa.
And bring it to the home.
Right, so the video looks exactly the same.
The audio is just audio, right? No visuals.
Well, I mean, Amazon Plus, there's no visuals.
There's no video version, right?
Right. I guess.
I guess that won't be a problem.
Yeah, true.
How are you, man?
Yeah, I'm doing great.
Went to Hokkaido.
Oh, right.
Hoji, right?
It was great.
Actually, it was cooler.
Right. I'm sure it is.
How cool was it? Or how hot was it?
Actually, it was like 25, 26.
See, it's not that cold.
But a lot more, a lot better temperature.
Yeah, yeah.
And also, it's less humid than...
A lot more dry.
...like this area.
Much better.
Much comfortable and had so many food.
What did you eat?
Okay.
Genghis Khan.
Hokkaido beef.
Hokkaido beef?
Yeah.
So many kaisens.
Kaisen, okay.
Like fishes, abeys, kais.
03:01
And so many of those.
Melon.
You know, fruit.
So many things.
Kind of everything you can have in Hokkaido.
What are you most excited about when you go back to Hokkaido?
So, your... wait.
Your grandmother...
Yeah, grandmother and grandfather. Grandparents.
Your grandparents are from Hokkaido.
That's why you go back to Hokkaido every once in a while.
Yeah.
So what are you excited about?
Well, to meet, you know, grandparents was the biggest fun for me.
But now it's kind of mainly food.
Okay.
Right.
Or like we gather together, you know, all the family reunion.
That's fun to me.
So basically foods and like, you know, the sight.
Ah.
Nature things.
What nature? Like ocean?
Like ocean and mountain.
Mountain.
We have lake.
Okay.
Yeah.
So that's what? Beautiful?
How's that different from the one you can find here in Tokyo or Kanagawa?
What you can find in Tokyo or Kanagawa is kind of really small.
You know, Hokkaido is quite a really big place.
So like if you go to like, for example, like the lake, it's like ocean, you know.
Ah, it's huge.
It's really big. And if you find mountain, that's, you know, it's really big.
And also it's really like completely in nature.
So you can find like deers, like bears, fox, you know.
It's really wild nature. So I love that.
Yeah, sounds like something you'd really love and enjoy.
Yeah. Maybe that's why I love nature.
Right, from Hokkaido.
Yeah.
What food are you excited to eat?
Kani.
Fishes.
Uni.
Okay.
Kaki.
Yeah.
Seafood, yeah.
Because seafoods are really different from the ones you can find, we can find in this, you know, places.
I can't agree more.
I can't agree more.
I was blown away.
Yeah, when you visit.
Yeah, when I first ate a kaisendon from Otaru.
Oh, great.
It was really different.
Yeah, I don't know any other way to word this.
06:01
Yeah, true.
It was really something that I've never eaten in the Kanto area.
Yeah.
I really felt it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's actually like, it's not something like it's more delicious or not delicious.
It's just different.
Yeah, it's different.
It's different.
Right.
Yeah.
Do you usually eat kaisen stuff around your neighborhood or do you go to like the central area?
I don't know where your house is, but like, do you go on a car ride like an hour or two to go to that central place and like find a market or something like that?
Do you enjoy your seafood or?
I mean, both.
We have some, you know, my grandparents house is in really, really, really countryside.
Okay.
So, we can only find two or three local restaurants around the place.
But they are all good.
Okay, okay.
There's a times that we go to those restaurants and eat, you know, jingisukan restaurant like seafood or like ramen restaurant even.
Sometimes we do that, but also sometimes we can see the seafood that we can find at the local supermarkets are, you know, the finest.
Oh, okay.
We can buy those seafoods at those supermarkets and, you know, cook by ourselves.
That's also really good.
Are the fish that you can buy in grocery stores in Sapporo, do you think that's also the finest qualities?
Or should I, are you talking about more countryside grocery stores?
Yeah, like if you, if that's close to the ocean, to the, how do you say that?
Shore?
Yeah, shore.
Ichiban?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
If it's close to the market, then that's the finest.
Okay.
If you go to like the real city, you know, town side of Sapporo, it could, can be a little bit, you know, off.
But still, you know.
Still better than the finest.
Yeah, really good.
That sells at my basket in Tokyo.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
It's still a bit better.
Yeah, but if you go to like the close to the shore side and close to the market, that's that, you know.
09:01
Got it.
Okay.
Yeah.
Like the Otaru is, you know, the ocean side city.
Right, right, right, right.
So it's very fresh.
Yeah, great one.
Don't they have a market there?
I think they do.
Yeah.
Don't they have like a Shotengai?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You can go inside the market and, you know, have those Kaisendon.
Yeah, that's where I ate my Kaisendon.
Oh, that's great.
I've been going to the same restaurant ever since.
Oh, yeah.
That's your favorite then.
Yeah, I've, that's like the only one that I've tried.
I'm more of a stick with what I know in terms of like restaurants.
But you fell in love with that.
Right.
Yeah, yeah.
That's great.
I mean, it looks, they all look the same.
Yeah.
Yeah, they're all fine.
Right, they're all, yeah.
So.
Yeah, true.
Right.
Right, right.
All right.
Yeah.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye bye.
Bye.
