Welcome to Kevin's In This Room podcast! It's really awkward to do this alone in my room.
You know, this... the Tame and everything. I just have no one to like...
There's no one that's laughing right now. So like it's just me and my...
Alone in this empty room going "Podcast!" with the face and everything.
But anyways, so today you guys get to hear Yama-chan's other most favorite episode.
And that is... that was done in December 27th.
Called the... wait, let me... the title was "Kuukou no Blacklist ni Notta Kevin Papa"
Yeah, that was kind of a funny episode. It talks about how my dad cannot go through airport security
without being transferred to a different room. I think he still suffers from that.
You know, he travels a lot to Mexico. And I think... I don't know. I don't know about this.
But I think every time he travels in and out of the United States, he is transferred to a different room.
And the airport security, the TSA goes through all of my dad's stuff. Makes sure there's nothing illegal.
And so I think he still can't book a flight that's like... that only has like an hour of transferring time.
Because the TSA security checks always take more than that. I feel so sorry for my dad still.
So dad, if you're listening to this, you know, update me on how your TSAs are doing.
Yeah, so enjoy the episode guys. And good luck dad.
Welcome to... wait, are you ready? Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
So Yamato's ready. You're always ready. I know you're always ready.
So, as many of you listeners know about this, we are...
It was "Kaigai Ryokou de Saiyaku Datta Episodou Oshiete"
And we tried to collect the messages and episodes from all the listeners.
And it was for actually a full YouTube video. But there's so many fun, interesting episodes that we couldn't share.
So let me share this.
It's a great idea. By the way, it's called Stories, Yamachan. It's a feature called Stories.
What do you mean?
It's a feature called Stories on Instagram that would allow these followers to answer the questions that we give out.
03:07
Yeah, I know about Stories.
Called Stories.
Yeah, I think it's for a little, like one minute video, right? One minute short video?
No, it's like 15 seconds.
I think you're talking about reels, and that's like 30 seconds.
And TikTok is a minute.
Yeah, it's confusing, you know.
It's a little bit of a similar feature, you know what I'm saying?
So, Stories is for 15 minutes, right?
No, it's like 15 seconds.
Yeah, 15 seconds.
I know that's what you meant.
Yeah, that's what...
Right.
And it's gone in one day, right? 24 hours.
Yeah, right. 24 hours is right.
Okay, I'm using that.
Oh, you are?
Yeah, on a daily basis.
Daily, right.
Four or five stories.
That's a lot.
Yeah.
That's a lot.
So, guys, check my Instagram account, okay?
Because he's got an Instagram account. He actually does got an Instagram account out there.
There's no my Instagram account.
There is no Instagram account for Yamachan. Just make sure.
So please don't go and search my account.
We have to do this every time.
Okay.
So, this is the episode from Toys-san.
Toys-san, thank you very much.
Okay.
Chile. Have you ever been there?
No. It's an interesting place.
Yeah.
I went to see my best friend who lives in Chile.
I experienced the stress of using an airline abroad when I was there.
I used up all my energy on my trip and I was exhausted on my way home.
The way home was Santiago, New York, Narita, Nagoya.
Wow.
I was so happy that I could go back to Japan in JAL after arriving in New York.
I arrived at JFK airport and went to the bathroom. I finished my work and went out to the bathroom.
I was brushing my teeth and doing my skincare.
Then, an old lady came in.
Hmm?
This is a woman.
I felt something strange and I went out to the bathroom to check.
I was in the bathroom for about 10 minutes and I was using a male toilet.
In other words, the lady who looked like an old lady was an old man.
(Laughter)
I was exhausted and I was feeling safe, so I did my best to get out of the bathroom.
The only thing I could do was to save the person who was in the bathroom.
It wasn't the worst, but it was a failure.
It must have been a really long flight.
Yeah.
Must have been really tiring.
Really, really long flight.
(Laughter)
Went into the men's room.
06:01
The lady who looked like an old lady was an old man.
(Laughter)
Yeah.
So she first made a mistake of going into the men's room.
That's right. Because she's really tired, right?
Not a huge one.
Then she made a mistake.
Not a mistake, but she thought that the person who walked in was an old man.
Was an old lady.
Was an old lady.
Yeah.
When it wasn't an old man.
Yeah.
She's really tired.
(Laughter)
She must have had a long flight.
Yeah.
Must be.
I mean, it's pretty long.
I'm sure.
New York to Narita, right?
Yeah.
It's like a 14-hour flight.
Wow.
And it's actually from Santiago to...
Right.
So I don't know how long that is from Santiago to New York, but...
And then New York to Narita.
God.
Wow.
Hard day.
Yeah.
(Laughter)
Like when you go back to your hometown, what is the way?
Usually...
Is there any airport in your city?
Yes, there is.
(Laughter)
Yes, Yama-chan.
Atlanta.
Atlanta Airport.
I think it's a pretty big airport.
Oh, really?
Yes.
Oh, sorry about that.
Yes.
Did you know that the Olympics was held in Atlanta?
(Laughter)
Did you know that Coca-Cola has a headquarter there?
As well as CNN.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, just letting you know.
Oh, sorry about that.
I didn't know about it.
Oh, yeah, no problem.
Sorry.
Not many people do anyway.
So like...
People think it's a small city, but...
Okay.
Yeah, we've got airports.
I thought you must go to New York first.
No, it's the opposite side of the country.
You have to go by car maybe.
No, Yama-chan.
You have to go through all that route.
No, Yama-chan.
That's not how it goes, man.
(Laughter)
We usually go on a direct flight.
From where?
From where?
From...
Narita.
Oh, really?
To Atlanta direct.
Or...
Where was that?
I forgot.
I think it was like Mississippi or something.
We connect at Mississippi.
Is there an airport in Mississippi?
Yeah, man.
(Laughter)
You've got lots of airports, man.
Where do you think we are?
No, I thought Mississippi is only for river.
What the fuck are you talking about, man?
(Laughter)
Mississippi is a huge place.
I thought it was only for river.
It's a state.
It's one of the 50 states, man.
And little crocodiles.
No, what are you talking about?
I thought that's a Mississippi.
Are you talking about like a small pond?
(Laughter)
Are you serious?
We're talking about a state.
No, no, no.
Mississippi is a really huge river.
You know what I'm talking about?
Mississippi River.
That's the Mississippi River.
Yeah.
I'm talking about the Mississippi State.
I'm talking about the crocodiles.
What the fuck are you...
That makes no sense.
We're talking about if there's an airport in the state or not.
Okay.
(Laughter)
So it's a connection flight via Mississippi or it's a direct flight.
09:06
Okay.
And it takes about 14, 13 hours.
Pretty long.
It's tough.
It's a tough flight.
Yeah.
Yeah.
My father is a, you know, just like me, very humble man.
Humble man?
Yeah.
Very humble with money.
Yeah.
He doesn't like to spend money on things.
Okay.
Right?
So he uses, he always goes with the cheapest way.
Okay.
And that is to make a connection.
Maybe at Mississippi.
I don't know what the other one is, but maybe Dallas.
Dallas.
I forgot.
But usually, so several years ago, my father, as always, connected in Dallas and then came
here.
And one time he came here and he always brings home loads of Japanese snacks and food and
stuff.
Because he loves them.
He loves the chips.
The Japanese chips?
The Japanese potatoes.
Okay.
I forgot.
Oh shit.
I forgot they're called in the US.
Potato chips.
Yeah.
Yeah.
(Laughter)
Which part of, what did you forget Kevin?
That's the question you're trying to ask, right?
Yeah.
They're not just called chips.
They're called potato chips.
Okay.
I was like, I was trying to remember what it was actually called.
Okay.
Potato chips.
Okay.
Or was it?
What?
Is it potato chips?
I don't know.
Yeah.
I think it's potato chips.
Right.
Is that potato chips?
The same one?
Yeah.
That's, yeah.
Yeah.
I think it's potato chips.
Okay.
Let's just move on.
He brings home the potato chips, the kashi pan.
Kashi pan.
Yes.
Like the Bamkuchen.
He loves Bamkuchen.
He loves Bamkuchen.
Cup noodles.
Okay.
All the things that he loves.
Right.
He comes to Japan with an empty suitcase, fills it up with Japanese food, and takes
it home.
And did you know that the meat related food is not allowed to be brought in the United
States from other countries?
And my father does not follow the rule.
What do you mean he does not follow the rule?
Well, I mean he does, but like, so obviously the, the...
What do you call a customs officer?
Yeah, customs officer.
Customs officer.
Customs?
Yes, customs.
The custom...
The officer.
Yeah.
The custom...
Yeah.
The custom officer, right?
Yeah.
They don't read Japanese obviously.
