I am a mom of two kids, and I'm currently thinking of sending my six-year-old daughter
to Kumon.

My husband is not Japanese, and I am Japanese, but went to an international school, so I'm
not the most confident in my written Japanese.

As my eldest gets ready for Japanese shougakko, do you think it's better for her to study
sansu or kokugo?
Math is a great and basic skill to have, but I hear that Japanese elementary schools
rely on parents a lot for homework.
So if my child can have good reading comprehension skills in Japanese, it might be a less burden
for me as a parent.
Kokugo is the base for all subjects.
What subjects in Kumon would you let your children learn first?
We would love to hear episodes from Japanese shougakko as well, since I myself do not have
that experience and I feel worried as I won't be able to relate to my kids' experience.

not the best but she had a good grade because she she already learned it when teacher do that
thing she already yeah knows that so she was like yeah i know it kind of and she can she can talk
in a classroom she can sleep if you if she wants she can do whatever in the classroom but
is that i'm not sure if it's the huge advantage for her yeah because in any way she has to go
to the classroom right so yeah but well i mean i guess in terms of time efficiency
yeah i mean yeah you're going to learn it in school anyway so what's the point of doing it
early elsewhere right right right but i guess in terms of like grades like grades are permanent
right it's it's it's it's going to stick with you forever so i guess you do want you know having
that advancement with you could lead to you having a better grade because you have you have a more

right so it's possible that that might be your advantage that you have a high grade but i guess
other than that i guess it's just right and also if you if it's interesting for you then you can
find a bit fun of learning and not go difficult things and like try new things and learn new
things and that's that's a good thing it's just like me playing football you know yeah just like
you know having fun yeah yeah so
that's a positive side i think but in terms of like especially math they're kind of trying to
like get a higher higher you know climb the ladder yeah yeah i mean yeah yeah right yeah so
and another thing is like when i have when there's a classmate where that classmate knows
everything
that kind of changes like the dynamics of like human relationships
well depends on how that person kind of
um handles the situation but like like if that student thinks the whole class is boring because
she already knows it and then decides to sleep throughout the whole class but like aces all the
tests that would that really kind of changes the characteristic of how she's viewed of like
the dynamics of the with the class and like that's a good thing yeah i think that's a good thing
i suppose on a theory like that like
that's another factor yeah i consider

So as far as I've read this message and can imagine the situation,
then I think the literature would be a better choice
if you want to send your child to Kumon.
