#0 Self-Introduction

Zatsudan Room
This podcast is a Zatsudan channel.
It means that I decide one topic and expand more freely.
Through this podcast, I would be very happy if you can get some inspiration or just enjoy this channel.
My name is Taiki.
Since this is the first episode on this channel, so let me introduce myself briefly.
As I mentioned, my name is Taiki.
I'm an English coach, primarily helping Japanese people learn English and express what they want to say.
I also host live streams on HiNative, a language exchange app, and have another podcast.
In my live streams, I chat with people from all over the world.
We talk about what happened to me that day while I'll ask some questions to unique foreigners.
Unlike famous YouTubers whose comments are too many to keep up with,
my streams are usually pretty small with around 5 to 10 people,
so I can easily chat with everyone through the comments.
It's just casual chatting, but I find it really comfortable.
As for my podcast, Audio Japan, which I started in January this year,
I share trends and niche topics about Japan.
For example, I've talked about the trend of spotter part-time jobs,
the shift of club activities to local communities, and so on.
So you might think of me as someone who just talks about whatever I want in both Japanese and English,
and you'd be right.
I've been spending time studying English every day to improve myself.
So why did I start to learn English again?
When I was in my early 20s, I vaguely wanted to be able to speak English well.
I transferred to a university.
To pass the exam, I had to take the TOEIC test,
so I got a 750 score when I was 19.
But when I started university and met many international students,
I couldn't really express what I wanted to say.
And even when I went to Malaysia for two weeks as part of a university program,
I often couldn't find the right phrases.
I felt a bit frustrated, but at the same time,
I thought it would be cool to be able to speak English.
Fast forward to when I was 24, I started working as a cram school teacher.
Out of all the subjects, I thought I could teach English,
and since I had been reading a lot of books since I was 20,
I thought I could also teach essay writing.
So I mainly taught those two subjects on humanities.
When I was teaching them, I realized I had to study English again,
03:01
so I tried various things.
I even took the 8th and 3rd grade exam with my students.
After collecting my students' essays, I would write essays myself, too.
Also, I used online English conversation to talk to people from the Philippines and sometimes Africa.
I think my English improved gradually from there.
Through this experience, I realized that being able to speak English could be a kind of my strong point,
and I gained confidence.
I also realized how happy it makes me communicate with people beyond language barriers.
When I talked to foreigners,
they would tell me that my talking was easy to understand
and that they knew what I wanted to say, and I was so happy.
That's why I keep teaching English.
I want people to be able to express themselves in English
and easily communicate with foreigners by interacting with me.
Also, I want to build good relationships with the people I interact with.
If you are interested in learning more or want to have a chat with me,
please contact me online or Instagram.
Or, if you want to get a sense of who I am,
please come to my live stream on HiNative.
I'm usually live between 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Japan time.
I also have a Google Home, so feel free to send me any questions
you are hesitant to ask directly or any topics you'd like me to talk about.
Finally, as I mentioned at the beginning,
I'll be talking freely about various topics on this podcast.
However, I understand that it might be a bit awkward
to listen to just a random person chat,
so I'll start by talking about English based on my own experiences.
Next time, I'll talk about the very first thing I did
when I started studying English again.
So, stay tuned.
Thank you for listening.
