Idea for Horror Film Categorization
- Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
- You know what would be a good idea?
- Okay.
- I just thought of a very good idea.
- Oh, what?
- We were talking about horror films, right?
- Yeah. - In the last episode.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- I think it would be a great idea
if every movie has like, you know how there's ratings?
Like rated R, rated like PG-13, rated G.
I think it's a good idea if they would,
if we would first categorize the kind of horrors, right?
And then would specify what kind of horrors
is included in the film.
Like there's gonna be a jump scare.
There's gonna be a torture scene.
There's gonna be intensive blood scene, right?
If they had it in there, that would have been so good.
- Yeah.
- Like I would enjoy so much more of the horror film,
so much more.
Like I don't, like I'm sure there are a lot of horror films
that are great and interesting,
but I'm just not stepping into it
because there's that risk of like,
maybe there's gonna be a jump scare, right?
- You don't like jump scare.
- I just don't like jump scare.
Like if I know that there's not gonna be a jump scare
and also like the visual scary kind of thing,
I would definitely go for it because I like the thrill.
Like I like the "Kowai Monomidasa," I like that.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- So I think if like, if we categorize,
if there's a site where they would specifically tell you
what kind of intensity it has,
I would definitely go for it and check it out.
And like, "Sanko ni suru."
But I think that'd be a good idea.
- True.
- Right?
- True, true.
Introduction Advisory for Movies
Some of the movies have like introduction,
like advisory things.
- Right.
Like language, drug use, sexuality.
- "Bouryoku teki na shin"
- Right, yeah, right.
But like, I think that's not enough for me.
- Okay.
- You need to avoid the jump scare.
- Right.
Those are for kids, right?
Those are for like age appropriateness.
Discussion on Violence in Media
No?
- Like to me, it says if like,
"Bouryoku teki na shin ga fukumareru no de dou no kono,"
then I would stop watching that.
- Oh, okay.
- 'Cause I know I don't like those.
- But like, doesn't it depend on, because like--
- But you're okay with those, right?
- I'm okay with those.
- Yeah, so you need more like specified versions
of--
- And also like the "Bouryoku teki na shin,"
like doesn't it depend on like,
it could be a shadow of the two fighting
versus like it could be a closeup
of them being punched in the face.
That's different for you, right?
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Wait, is that different for you?
- Is that different for me?
- Like you're okay with the shadows?
- Shadows, they're fine.
- If it's like too up close visual.
- I don't want to see those, me even, but yeah.
- But I'm sure that some people are okay with the shadows.
Like some people are okay if it doesn't actually show
like an up close version, right?
So like, I'm sure that, you know, right now,
when they say that "Bouryoku teki na shin"
"ga fukumimasu," it's included in both
of those scenarios, right?
- Yeah, maybe.
- Maybe? - Yeah.
- Like if it's like from afar,
but it's there on the screen, they would say it.
They would say that "Bouryoku teki na shin."
- Well, I thought that's for like those scenes,
like close shootings.
- Oh, only close up scenes?
Okay, I see.
- But I'm not sure, yeah.
- But definitely they don't have it
for the horror categories.
- Like if it's like jump scares or like whatever.
- Whatever, however many categories there might be
out there in the horror film.
So that's just an idea that popped up
that would have been a great one.
- Yeah, you can make those side, the guide people.
- Right, that would have been so helpful.
So helpful for me.
- Right, and there will be like saying no jump scares
and then there are jump scares,
which is very scary to you.
- That's the worst, that's the worst kind.
That would be the worst experience.
Like when my guards are down, that's the worst.
- Okay, so the second question,
Encounters with Fans
what do people ask for when we're greeted?
Like when people recognize us.
- People don't usually ask for signs.
Like I've never had anyone ask for a sign before.
Like only once.
- Once?
- That was it.
People usually ask for nothing actually.
- Oh, what do they say?
- They say, "Oh, are you Kevin San?"
And "Oh, I enjoy your channel."
Like that's it.
- Oh, that's it?
- Like, "Hey, oh, I enjoy your channel."
- Like shake hand?
- No.
- No, like take pictures maybe?
- Picture maybe, picture maybe,
but like never a sign once.
It's very rare.
- How was the experience like signing?
- I was in a pizza shop.
- Pizza shop?
- Yeah, the store employee noticed me
and got a pizza box.
- Wow.
- Yeah, he got a empty pizza box and a makki.
And he was like, "Can you give me a sign here?"
And I signed on the pizza box.
- Wow.
- That was a cool experience, I guess.
- Yeah, is that like an authentic pizza shop?
- No, it was like a random pizza shop.
- Oh, really?
- I mean, it was an authentic one.
They had like the pizza gamma.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course.
- So it was an authentic one.
But it was a random pizza shop.
- That's funny.
You haven't met those like, "Can you sign here?"
- Never, no.
- "Sign my underwear."
- No, never had any of that experience.
Being Recognized on the Street
I feel like people are very like, "Ki wo tsukatteru."
Like when they see me on the street,
like, "Oh, I'm sure you're on your private time,
but like, I just wanted to say hi."
- Oh, they're really nice.
- Yeah, like I feel it.
I feel the "ki wo tsukatteru"ness.
- Oh, okay.
- Which is very kind.
- True.
That's good then.
Like there are not many like people who,
(gagging)
- Yeah, once I had that.
- Once you had that experience?
- Yeah, I had that.
- Wow.
- When we were in the cafe,
we were working for a cafe, right?
- Oh, the place we were?
- Yeah, the place we were.
- Okay, okay.
- Yeah, some "chugaksei"s, they came and they were like,
"You from that guy from TikTok!"
- Oh, really?
- Yeah, like, "Oh, can you do something?"
I was like, yeah.
- Wow.
- That was very disrespectful.
- What did you do?
- I said, "I can't."
- Okay.
- Sorry, can't do anything.
- Yeah.
- 'Cause they're too...
- Disrespectful.
- Okay, okay.
Wow.
- Yeah.
Politely turned them down.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Well, that's, you should do.
- Probably one of the worst experiences I had,
that was it.
- Wow.
Dealing with Being Recognized
But like, most of, especially recently,
most of the people are very kind,
like very thoughtful.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Plus also, I'm wearing hats,
so like, so much the chances of me getting noticed
has become a lot lower from back then
when we were at the cafe as well.
So, yeah.
- Sure.
- How was your experience like?
- You know, I always feel, always "tachibawari,"
so I don't, I don't sign there.
- Is that how you deal with it?
- Yeah.
- Yeah.
(laughs)
- No, I mean, still recently,
I don't have that opportunity to like being spoken to.
- Which is weird.
- Yeah.
- Which is, because do you wear hats?
You wear hats though, right?
- I do, I do sometimes.
- That's probably why.
- Yeah.
- Like hats change.
- Yeah, right.
- Your image, right?
- Right.
- That's probably why.
- Yeah.
And that's actually, well, I'm okay
with somebody speak to me and we could be friend.
隠れることの心地良さ
But also like if I can live freely
without noticing by anybody on the street,
that's like, I feel good.
- Mm, yeah, I mean, that's great.
- I mean, that's good, but still now,
nobody can catch me on the street.
- Okay, so how often do you not wear anything outside?
Like no glasses, no hats?
- I would say 30%.
- Oh, I see.
- Yeah, but recently like hats, like caps,
I do wear them most of the times.
Yeah, and I wear some kind of huge sunglasses.
- Oh yeah, there you go.
- Yeah, like huge like.
- Huge sunglasses, right?
One of those like Hollywood.
- This big.
- Oh, that's big.
That's a big sunglass.
Bigger than your face, man.
- Yeah, this big sunglasses.
- Go down your chest.
- Yeah.
- Big one.
It's a big sunglasses.
- This kind of.
- The big little, big ass sunglasses.
- This hat.
- Ah, right.
The one you find in Paris, right?
- Yeah.
- The cliche image of a Paris guy.
- Yeah.
- That's my image.
That's my cliche.
- Lady Gaga's.
- Yeah, Lady Gaga style.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So that's why they don't notice me.
- I see, I see.
Makes sense.
I wouldn't notice you either, if you were there
and had that hat on.
I would pretend not to be your friend.
(laughing)
- True.
'Cause I don't meet any of my friends on the street.
Like even my friends don't speak to me on the street.
- Oh, really?
- Yeah, they don't notice me.
- So, right, sometimes we encounter our friends
in the streets, right?
Like, oh, that guy from the circle, like, oh, it's him.
But they don't recognize you at all?
- No.
- Wow.
- Yeah, that's sad, by the way.
- That is kind of sad.
- That's a bit sad.
- That is kind of sad.
- A few days ago, I was in the cafe,
reading a book and drinking coffee.
So without mask, like,
wore a cap, probably.
Not Talking to Acquaintances in Public
But there are one of our kouhai,
we both know, came into the store
and just passed, just in front of me,
just look at me.
- Oh, but gave you a glance.
- Yeah.
- But still passed.
- And then she passed, like, just through.
- Damn.
- And I was like, that's heavy.
That's heavy.
(laughing)
- Wow, how young?
Like, ikkoshita, nikoshita?
- Nikoshita, nikoshita.
- No, dai?
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Wow, that's heavy, man.
- Yeah.
- If it's nikoshita, then we were in the same, like,
- Yeah.
- Like, you know, same, like,
- Same, daisen.
- Right, we shared the same events.
- Yeah.
- Frequently, a lot.
- Yeah.
- Wow, that hits hard.
- Yeah.
- That's a heavy punch.
- Yep.
(laughing)
- Heavy punch, huh?
- That was sad, but.
- Yeah, yeah.
- It'll be even more sad if she noticed you,
but decided to make up.
(laughing)
Which is what I do.
- Oh yeah, you do?
- Which is what I, I would,
- Oh, really?
- I would choose not to talk to anybody,
like, if I noticed them.
Like, if I noticed the other guy,
and the other guy didn't notice me,
I would not say anything.
- Oh, really?
- I would move on, yeah.
- Oh, that's sad.
- I would do that, I would actually do that.
- Yeah, if that guy doesn't notice you, no problem.
But because I noticed her.
- Did you stare?
Like, did you actually,
so was your movement something that people can recognize?
Like, oh, that person kind of recognized, no?
- No, just, I was just, oh.
- Just a quick one.
- Just a, yeah, just a moment, and just, yeah.
- I see, I see.
- That was a crowded place, so I wasn't like,
oh, it's a pretty kind of, no.
- Oh, I see.
If it's crowded, then, I mean, I guess it's,
one of the crowds.
- Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- Yeah.
- But, yeah.
- Still, still though.
Chapter 1
- Still sad.
- Yeah.
- All right.
- Thanks for listening, guys.
- Thank you.
