Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
How's it going, man?
Yeah.
Yeah?
I was still in, like, Australian vibe.
Oh, you're still in Australian vibe?
Yeah.
Okay.
But, yeah, you know, while I was away, I stopped all my things, right?
What do you mean?
Like, you know, that works.
Oh, yeah, yeah.
I should have done, or like, you know.
You were in Australian vibe, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I need to, actually, I need to make, I'm making an album.
Okay.
Yeah.
But, you know, I was out and everything stopped.
I was like, yeah, everything came on this week.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
Last week.
I see.
So I was like, I was still in Australian vibe, but many things to do.
Yeah, you kind of had to, yeah, take care of a lot of things.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like a struggle between you and, like, vacation mode.
Yeah, that was my last week.
Oh, I see.
But I went to the fesu.
Fesu?
Yeah.
A few days ago.
That was the biggest hip-hop fesu in Japan.
Oh, really?
Held in Odaiba.
What was it called?
The Hope.
Okay.
And have you ever been to, like, fesu?
Ongaku fesu?
Like, in general?
No.
Okay.
So that was hip-hop fesu.
Okay.
So there's no band.
There's no singers.
There's no guitars.
There's no pianos.
It was DJ and guys, microphone and lasers.
Oh, sure.
That.
And that was my first time visiting those places, hip-hop fesu.
And hip-hop isn't my thing, actually.
Okay.
I'm rather into, like, R&B or jazz or those.
Yeah.
But I was interested in and went to that place.
Yeah.
And the moment I went in the fesu place.
Okay.
I saw so many people that I have never been together or I have never had conversation with
or, like, never been, you know, got close to.
Oh, so, like, the type of friends that you were never, you know, with, had connections with?
Yeah.
Like, people, you know.
Like, the genre of people.
Yeah.
The way they talk, the way they walk, the way they wear things.
That was very different from the world I'm in.
Okay.
Wow.
That different?
Yeah.
Okay.
I mean, first of all, that was fesu.
So, fesu is not everyday life.
It's different from everyday life.
Sure.
So, people get excited.
03:00
Sure.
And they wear differently.
It's a special place.
Yeah.
So, people hyped up.
Yeah.
So, that's first.
But still, like, you know, there are many guys.
First of all, they didn't wear anything on top.
Whoa.
So, shirtless men.
Yeah.
All over the place.
Yeah.
Wow.
Okay.
Maybe, for example, like, hair differently.
Oh, like, dorito.
Yeah, dorito.
Something like that.
Yeah.
Or, like, I haven't seen koshiban for long.
Oh, people did the koshiban?
Yeah, they did the koshiban.
Okay.
I mean, not even koshi.
That was, like...
Lower?
Yeah, lower than koshiban.
Like, when kids go to the bathroom that low?
Not that low, but yeah, just like that.
Yeah.
And, yeah, that was a very new experience to me.
I didn't know that world existed.
But there were many people, like, I'm not sure the exact number, but hell,
Donnichi and then huge people came in.
Wow.
And, yeah, the way the hip-hop rappers communicate with the people...
Yeah.
...was so different from the one I know.
They were like, huh?
From the beginning.
That was their communication style.
Yeah.
What are you guys doing?
Can you hear me?
And we were like, that was my reaction.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
But everybody around us was like, yes!
And then we were like, is that what's supposed to be done?
Uh-huh.
Okay.
And then the hip-hop rapper was like,
And then I was like, oh, scary.
But people around us was like,
One, two, three.
And people were, like, jumping around.
And I was like, oh, this is new.
That's different.
That was different.
Yeah, I was very surprised.
But, you know, it's always a good thing to experience new things.
Yeah.
Dive into new world.
Yeah.
New culture.
Uh-huh.
Did you enjoy it?
I mean, I enjoyed the people.
Yeah, like, as an experience.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
Were you ever able to sort of, like, have a conversation with any of them?
I mean, no.
No?
Okay.
No.
Sadly.
They were enjoying.
So there are two types of people in this place.
Sure.
One people fully enjoying the moment.
Okay.
They're shouting in the world.
Yeah.
You know, that's one type.
06:00
Yeah.
Difficult to talk to.
The other type is, like, lost and drunk.
I see.
Like, sleeping on the floor.
Uh-huh.
It was outside.
Yeah.
And I think, like, alcohol.
Spilling everywhere.
Yeah, like, laying all over the place.
Yeah.
You know, difficult to talk to.
Yeah, yeah.
True.
Yeah.
So.
You didn't really.
There weren't many friendly vibes there.
Uh-huh.
Okay.
But one moment, they were packed with people.
Yeah.
And then one rapper says, like,
You guys, open that.
Open that.
Hey, open that.
I'm telling you to make a circle.
And then people, in a crowded pact of people, made a circle.
Okay.
Of nobody's here.
Yeah.
People, like, move around.
Yeah.
And then evacuate from the circle.
Yeah.
And they made, like, this circle of empty.
Okay.
But, of course, people are around there.
Yeah.
I counted, like, one, two, three.
And everyone was in the middle.
I was like, what?
It's so dangerous.
No, no, no.
You shouldn't do that.
But everybody around me was like, yeah.
Wow.
And then the song started.
Okay.
And then.
And then the rapper was like.
And then everybody runs.
Wow.
Dive into one, to the center of that circle.
Okay.
And then crashes.
Wow.
And?
And then nothing happens.
Yeah.
And then.
Wow.
Wow.
That's how.
The performance.
Yeah.
That's how it should be enjoyed.
That's how.
That's the style.
That's the style.
That's how they enjoy music.
Yeah.
That's how they enjoy music.
Yes.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes.
Yeah.
I was looking from a distance.
Ah.
So you were not in the crowd.
No.
No.
Joining the circle.
No.
It was too dangerous.
Yeah.
I was.
Right.
Yeah.
People were so.
Looked so enjoying.
Yeah.
So, you know, excited.
I see.
Yeah.
I see.
Very.
I see.
New to me.
Oh.
Like, were all those people.
Like, you know how there are, like, hip-hop vibe people, like, in Shibuya or, like, anywhere
in Japan?
Yeah.
Like, you know, it's not the majority, but, like, some people have that vibe, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Same vibe, but with a lot, but a lot of people version?
Or, like, never seen it, completely different?
I mean, the level was different.
Oh, yeah.
Like, a little bit higher than.
That place was meant to be for those people.
09:03
For those people.
So.
People tend to get more extreme.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They will, you know, get excited.
I see.
And there was, like, MC, I mean, the rapper, who, you know, okoru to the people.
Yeah.
And that boosts the energy, you know?
Oh.
Okay.
Was everyone angry?
Were all the MCs angry?
I mean, most of them were angry.
Okay.
I would say 70% of MCs were angry.
Okay.
20% of MCs were.
Gentle?
I mean.
Kind?
Like, no, it's like, gone.
Gone to, like, I didn't even understand what.
Oh, like, they were just talking in a different language?
Yeah, like, they just, I mean, they didn't even talk, like, the shout.
Like, one guy came.
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
Yelling for whole song and running around.
That's crazy.
Yeah.
That was crazy.
Yeah.
I mean, I felt the energy.
Yeah.
And that was, I mean, I understand the whole concept.
That was crazy.
That was beyond the, you know, it's insanity.
Yeah.
Is what he wanted to present.
Yeah.
I understand it.
But, you know.
Right.
And 10% of MCs were, like, I mean, just.
Understandable?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Just as excited as Fest.
Oh, like a normal Fest 5?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I see.
I see.
Yeah.
Who was the, like, the main Otori?
Otori was the guy, Chibayuki-san.
Oh, yeah.
Yep.
Team Tomodachino.
Yes, yes, yes.
Oh, okay.
And he's the boss.
Okay, really?
Yeah.
He's, like, the boss?
Yeah.
Because, so he performed just one song, Team Tomodachi, that's all.
Okay.
But before that, you know, Tomodachiza came first.
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then they performed their own songs, their own, you know, originals.
Okay.
And then the very last,
You know, that vibe.
Yeah, yeah.
The very last Chiba-san came in.
And then everybody was, like,
Oh, okay.
Yeah.
And then, as the performance, you know, the song is meant to be done with many people,
like numbers of friends, right?
So, just Tomodachi on Deesuka.
And then many rappers came in.
Oh, okay.
But everybody was, like,
You know.
Like all the angry MCs.
Yeah.
They were, like,
Bowing down to the almighty Chiba-san.
Yeah.
The one, a few minutes ago, saying,
12:00
The one was, like,
That energy, you know.
Wow.
Yeah.
It was different from the one we, for example, in the circle,
our kohai saying to you, like,
Not the same song.
It's a different song.
Chiba-san.
You know.
You know the one.
You know those.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And, yeah.
I fully enjoyed that atmosphere and show and everything.
It was worth.
It was a culture difference.
Yeah.
That's great.
That was a new experience to me.
You're a challenger, you know.
You're such a challenger.
Yeah, I mean.
You'd go to those places.
Yeah, I mean, that's something I didn't expect, actually.
I thought it was going to be, like, something more that you'd understand.
Yeah.
I know, like, I kind of started getting into hip-hop, like, rap world.
Yeah.
I love, you know, the words.
Yeah.
Places and, you know, the rhyming and the techniques and, you know, word choices.
It's, like, very literature.
Okay.
I love those things.
So, start, you know, getting into that world.
And that's something I was expecting for the hip-hop show.
But, yeah.
It was just chaotic.
Yeah.
It was crazy.
It was chaotic.
Yeah.
Okay, I see.
So, that was my.
That was some stuff, huh?
Yeah, that was my week.
Some stuff.
Yeah.
Yeah.
People were very.
Everybody loved hip-hop world.
Not only, like, this artist, this artist.
But they were loving hip-hop world.
I see.
So.
Oh, so much respect.
Yeah.
So much respect.
That's great.
Yeah.
So much respect.
Like, for me, Jian was a little bit, I mean, very bad.
Yeah, yeah.
But, like, the vibe, the heart was very, like, innocent.
I see.
They were, like, very.
Pure.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Purely there for the enjoyment of music.
Yeah, yeah.
So, that was beautiful.
Yeah, that's beautiful.
Yeah.
For sure.
So.
I see.
Yeah.
And one girl standing on that, right behind me.
Yeah.
One, like, like, heavy trap rap song came out.
Yeah.
I see.
I know.
Right.
Because, yeah.
Yeah.
I've never played those songs when I drove a car.
I'd rather choose different songs for driving.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But, you know, there are.
The people that plays those songs.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I sometimes met the car with, like.
Right.
15:00
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
With, like.
Right.
The huge speakers.
Yeah.
Right.
So.
Those.
Those are the people that come here.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I see.
Yeah.
That's.
That's good.
Good experience.
Yeah.
Great experience.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But in any ways, like, it's a huge, huge thing now.
People are excited.
And I found some beautiness from that show.
So I'm kind of into it a little bit.
Yeah.
I'm not fully confident if I will be fully in or not.
Okay.
I see.
Stepping in.
We'll see.
We'll see.
Knocking a little bit.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We'll see how your palate enjoys it.
All right.
Yep.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye.
Bye.
