Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Hey guys!
Well I like that case actually.
You like the case?
Really?
Yeah, it's not bad.
I think it looks terrible.
Really?
That's a really good question.
So the case Yamajan is talking about is an iPhone case that I recently bought.
Yeah, that's a new one.
The phone is not mine. It's Kevin's English Room's iPhone.
And I personally have the exact same model of the iPhone.
It's both iPhone 11 I believe.
And this is with the case and that's without the case.
I had two problems with that situation.
Mine's black, right?
And without the case, it's blue but it looks kind of blackish in dark areas.
I couldn't really tell on first sight.
Sometimes I want to check my phone and I pick up the KER phone.
That was annoying.
And also that thing without the case broke my MacBook.
It was so sharp on the edges it broke my screen.
So I decided to get a case for it.
Soft edges and also something that's very noticeable.
I don't have to mix it up anymore.
And it didn't have to be anything fancy, right?
Just be cheap and the color's different.
So I found one. It was red.
It's called Vivid Red.
Vivid Red. Really easy to see.
Really easy. It's so noticeable.
The package seemed okay.
It was like, "Oh, yeah, cool. Red. Yeah, I'll get that."
It's 1200 yen. Easy buy.
And I popped it on the iPhone.
And it just looks so Chun-I-Byo.
It's not Chun-I-Byo.
Dude, look at that. What kind of guy has a...
This is so the side.
And if you look at the back, you look at the front right now.
But if you look at the back, the case is transparent.
It has a transparent back like this.
And it's blue here.
Blue for the body and the edges are red.
So it's like Marvel.
Oh, really?
It's like Captain America vibe.
That's cool.
That's one. Or the other is like another Chun-I-Byo vibe.
It's kind of embarrassing to use that in public.
Really?
But you don't think it's that side.
It's not a bad buy.
Really?
Yeah.
I really do think so.
Really?
Yeah. It's not that bad.
Okay. Well, for the video, I'll show you guys.
I'll mirror it back at you.
03:00
See what I can do.
Here, guys. Look. This is the...
Can you guys see it?
This is the phone that I'm talking about.
It's not a bad buy.
The back is like this.
Oh, you can't see the back.
For audio, maybe I'll try to...
Maybe I could post it on Twitter.
Or like Instagram.
Yeah.
You should do the vote, you know?
Is this the vote?
There's a story.
Or Twitter.
Yeah. You can vote.
That's true. That's true.
I should do that.
That's kind of funny.
All right.
Okay.
I think I'll really do that.
Yeah.
When this episode comes out.
Yeah. I'll do that.
Oh, it's not that...
I'm going to vote for the not-dassai.
Really?
Okay. It's one vote for one side.
Maybe only one.
I'm the only one.
So guys, remind me if I forget to post out a poll.
Do it.
Yeah.
So I'm going to read the message from RM-san.
RM-san?
Yes. Thank you.
RM-san?
From the...
Rap Monster?
Yeah.
Oh, from BTS?
BTS, yeah.
I got a topic request from BTS.
From BTS, man?
Dang.
Thank you.
It's RM.
Thank you.
And he writes in Japanese, so...
Oh, okay.
I didn't know that.
All right.
I didn't know he was not so fluent yet.
Yeah.
Okay.
Good evening.
Your voice is just...
Yeah.
It's so not like RM.
It's like you know that this is not from RM.
Good evening.
I'm Kemi-san, Yama-chan, Kake-chan, RM.
I started listening to podcasts every day from episode 10 to episode 20 in April.
Wow.
That's a lot.
That's a lot.
Every 10 to 15 minutes, it's like 10, 15...
Wow.
Wow.
Wow.
That's all for today.
Wow.
Super.
Thank you.
06:02
PS.
I loved the echo of the first podcast, so please do your best.
Oh, like the artificial one?
Yeah, artificial one.
I mean yours.
My echo.
Yeah, your echo.
Podcast, cast.
Yeah.
All right.
Do you have any songs that brings back memories?
Yeah, a lot actually.
How long?
I really love listening to songs and like remembering the back in the day.
Yeah.
Yeah, I love that.
The exact that scene with the song melody.
Yes.
Yeah.
Yes.
Let me see if I can think of one.
Yeah, I have one.
Yeah, go ahead.
Yeah, that's "Light Us".
It's called "Light Us" by Bruno Mars.
Feat.
"Bad meets evil".
Okay.
Oh, I think...
You know that?
Maybe I introduced you.
Isn't that...
Is Eminem in there?
Yeah, "Bad meets evil" is Eminem and Royster 50.
Yes, I know that song.
And it's really...
You know, Bruno sings really cool and really sweet.
I love that.
And rap part is so bad.
Bad as in like...
Like bad as in bad.
Because the bad meets...
No, no, no.
That's cool.
Really cool.
It's really good.
You're really confusing me right now.
Sorry.
Using really great languages, you know?
Okay, okay.
In Eminem and Royster 50, they use so many...
Swear words.
Yeah, so many.
Okay, got it, got it.
And they sound really good.
And you know, talk about the raps, they are really good at.
But you know, language itself is so bad.
Explicit language.
Yes, completely explicit.
Inappropriate.
Yeah, but they sound really good.
Cool.
And that was when I was in France.
It was top hit at the moment.
So that was when we were high school students, like second year.
So it's like 10 years ago, maybe.
Yeah.
And it was on the radio, always on the radio.
And as I was on the car, on the buses, so many things.
And I didn't understand French at all.
Yeah.
So I didn't understand the radio itself.
But the song was in English and the melody was so beautiful.
So I got that melody in it.
And still, you know, when I hear that song, I'm going to be in that world instantly and
start remembering everything.
09:01
That worries, anxiety, feel, excite, and so many things.
Do you still listen to that song and like, I don't know if enjoy is the right word, but
like back on the days that you listened to it?
Yeah.
But that song is too special for me.
I don't listen like every day.
Ah, okay.
Yeah.
But once, yeah.
Uh-huh.
I would listen to that song once in a year.
And I put it into, you know, like some kind of box inside my mind.
And that's what I do.
Yeah.
That's nice.
Yeah.
Please go check that song.
Yeah.
That song is really, it sounds really like, kakkoi.
Yeah.
Beautiful.
But you know, be careful language is really.
Yeah.
Right.
You have been warned.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
One I can think of is, I was in, I went to Guam with my friends and there was this-
From the high school?
High school.
Yeah.
There was this really like, there was a street where like it had neon lights.
Cool.
It was at nighttime, they got neon lights and fancy restaurants and these American
looking things.
Cool.
The atmosphere was great.
Uh-huh.
And at that time they had, it was playing a song, just like the Shibuya.
Ah, yeah.
I've got speakers and-
Yeah.
I've got speakers and they had music playing in the city and they were playing One Direction,
what makes you beautiful.
Okay.
And another was Love Me Like You Do.
By who?
Ellie Golden?
Ah.
Love me like you do, love me like you do.
It was like, I think it was the song from Fifty Shades of Grey.
Okay.
But yeah, that song, I don't know why but that really, that image of that city really-
Cool.
Stuck with me, those two songs.
Every time I listen to it, it just brings me back to-
Yeah.
Me walking in that street.
Nice.
That's one.
Another was, after I went to, after I came back to Japan for high school, there was a
time where it was kind of hard to fit in.
Yeah.
To Japanese-
The culture.
School.
School friends and everything.
And I wanted, there was this gap of like, oh, I was so excited but it's so difficult.
12:01
Right?
And every time I go to school, it kind of had this weird feeling inside.
I was waiting for this.
I was so excited for it but I'm struggling.
What I would do is I listen to the Japanese songs that I listened to when I was back in
the US and bring back the memories and I would energize myself.
Yeah.
The time when you were really excited about it.
Yes.
I think one was Hatamoto Hiro.
Okay.
Uroko.
Yeah.
That one.
Others were like, I think, what was I listening to?
Something like, I remember Kobukuro was it.
Kobukuro.
Yeah.
I don't remember which song.
Maybe-
Tsubomi?
Yeah, maybe Tsubomi.
Yeah.
Others were like Arashi.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Arashi's song is really uplifting.
Yeah, true.
Happiness.
Like one love.
Yeah.
True.
Yeah.
So you listen to that same, I mean, I'm not sure if that expression is correct, but same
age, same aged songs.
That means you listen to those songs when you were like junior high school student.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
So when you were a junior high school student, I listened to that, those same songs like
Arashi's Happiness and Uroko's and-
Maybe my timeframe is a little bit incorrect.
Okay.
Maybe.
But maybe those weren't songs that I was listening to in the US.
Maybe it was just popping.
Maybe it was just Hayatteru at the time.
I don't know which one.
But I was actually listening to those.
I was listening to J-pop that was on charts back then.
So at that time, whatever was popping, I listened to it as well.
I enjoyed J-pop.
Cool.
So you listened to that, like fresh J-pop songs.
I did.
I did.
I did.
Nishinokana.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like Johnny's.
Yeah, of course.
All the Exile groups.
True.
V as well.
True.
J Soul Brothers.
Yeah.
What else?
Yeah.
Those pops.
Triple A.
Triple A. Okay.
Maybe you are a little more professional than I am.
Oh really?
About J-pop maybe.
Yeah.
Mr. Children.
Oh yeah.
15:00
Beez.
Beez yes.
Yeah, it's like all the major pop.
Yeah.
It's kind of happy that we can share those songs with our youth memories.
And that's cool.
Yeah.
Nice.
I remember one.
I think Hook Climb was...
Oh, it's Shunkashuto.
Alright.
Yeah, I remember that.
My dad really liked that song.
Oh really?
Yeah.
He listened to that song often.
And...
Yeah, that one too.
Yeah, Akikawa Masafumi-san.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Sen no Kaze ni Nante.
Yeah.
We used to imitate him.
Oh yeah, really?
We did karaoke like that song.
And...
Oh!
The vibrato.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
How funny.
Well, Shirikaze Rihonji era.
Oh yeah.
That's a quite new one, yeah.
Oh, is it a quite new one?
Yeah, I guess so.
Okay, okay.
I believe so.
Maybe universities.
Yeah, I guess so.
Yeah.
Yeah, I heavily listened to Arashi's song.
Oh yeah?
Yeah, I had an album and listened to every song.
Like, so many of the Arashi songs are like good melodies.
Yeah, they're really good.
So catchy.
Yeah, yeah.
The Akashi's great as well.
Yeah.
Yeah.
True.
Yeah.
You know, I actually think those pop songs are good.
Yeah.
Yeah.
They always, you know, open the new gate.
At least I listened to those songs and now I love music.
So, you know, the power of those, you know, pop songs is really strong, you know?
Right, right.
Yeah.
I, you know, sometimes tend to be focusing on the, you know, really deep details and
professionalness.
Yeah.
That's a good thing.
You know, looking back and see the whole, you know, music world, you know, those simple
idol pop songs.
They are really, you know, they have really big huge impact to so many people.
So yeah.
They got energy.
Yeah.
It really changes the mood.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
True.
Thanks for listening guys.
We talked.
All right.
That's it.
(laughing)
- All right, bye bye.
