Welcome to Kevin's In This Room Podcast!
[clapping]
Yes!
How are you?
I am doing well.
How are you, Yong Chan?
I am doing better than you.
Better than me?
I'm sure that I'm doing better than you.
Well, you know, I don't know.
I'm doing pretty well too.
[laughing]
I didn't sleep today.
I had plenty of sleep today.
Oh, that's nice.
Never underestimate me when I have plenty of sleep.
[laughing]
Did you use your mask?
I did.
Not the curtains?
I haven't bought the curtains yet.
I'm still looking for one.
My windows are actually really short and wide.
Special size.
Yeah, it's special size.
I'm still looking for the perfect one.
But you can use the usual size.
But that's so weird.
[laughing]
That is so weird though.
If it's smaller than the window,
that would be the problem.
But if it's bigger than the window,
then you can...
Logically, I understand what you're talking about.
It covers the area, logically.
But that's so weird if you actually
place that on the wall.
[laughing]
Because underneath it, there's a normal window.
And it has a curtain.
So like...
You'd have like a double curtain
on one spot.
That's just really weird.
It's awkward and weird.
Nobody wants an awkward window, right?
Yeah, so you need special curtains.
Yeah, yeah.
I'm gonna buy a special curtain.
Alright, so...
We've got a message from
Amato Shozoku-chu-san.
Okay!
Amato Shozoku-chu-san.
Yes.
I didn't... I didn't...
I said it. Yeah? I said it properly.
You wanna try saying it? Yeah.
Amato Shozoku-chu-san.
Yeah. That's what I said.
Really? Can you say that again?
Amato Shozoku-chu-san.
Yeah?
[laughing]
So...
Hello, Kevin-san, Yama-chan-san.
Hello.
I enjoy your Instagram and podcast.
Thank you.
I get excited when I get to hear
your podcast from time to time,
so I think I often get the
wrong interpretation.
Here's the point.
I'm a second year high school student,
and I went to the open campus
of the first-ever university.
I took a picture there,
and I set it up on the home screen,
and every time I open my phone,
it says, "I've been here too much.
I can't take it anymore."
What do you do when you can't
get motivated to study or work?
Please let me know.
Ah...
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
03:00
Hmm... That's a good thing.
Yeah.
Taking pictures in series and
screen. Keep the motivation
going. That's what you do, you know?
Yeah. I put a picture of a
sky tree to keep my motivation up, you know?
[laughing]
[laughing]
[laughing]
[laughing]
[laughing]
Well, I mean...
[clears throat]
Um...
If...
I mean, one, take a break.
Okay, yeah.
Don't charge your
energy. Yeah, yeah.
And don't beat yourself up
if you're not as productive as you
wanted it to be. Okay.
Um... Two,
I guess, um...
[sniffles]
Hmm... If you're not motivated...
Not motivated...
Not motivated...
I guess,
do something completely different.
Okay. That's one.
So, for example, like...
See...
See as you can say. Yeah.
So, do some...
Like...
Like a quick, you know, like a quick
15-20 minute break. Okay.
Like, sing, or like... Yeah.
Dance. Dance. Yeah.
Hip-hop dance. Rap. Rap.
Yeah. Or like...
Break dance. Break dance.
Spinning around. Spinning around.
Spinning your head. Um...
Do the splits. Yeah.
[laughing]
Yeah, like completely different
activities. Yeah, like a very...
Like, use your body or something. Use a different
part of your brain. Yeah.
That's important. Yeah.
Uh...
Cook. Cook? Yeah.
Um...
Yeah. Yeah.
That's...
That's what I did when I had to really study for something.
Ah. And my motivation wasn't
going. Um...
What I did, um...
was, um...
I would schedule.
I would just create
a schedule for the whole day.
Okay. Like...
By like, I think like 10 minutes.
Ah. Like...
From 9 to 10 Japanese...
Yes. 10 minutes break dance.
Break dance.
[laughing] After that math.
Math. Yes. And hip-hop.
Rap. Yes. Rap. A little.
[laughing]
[laughing]
Like those. Yeah. Right.
You know how productive you're going to be for the day.
Uh huh. And like if you have a whole schedule
planned out. Uh huh. Like...
I don't know. Somehow you... You can...
You...
You're able to execute on that.
Yeah. Without procrastinating as much. Uh huh.
If you have... If you already have a schedule
planned out for the day from the very beginning.
I see that.
Instead of just like...
Instead of just doing the best
06:00
now and then just like... Yeah. Yeah.
Going full throttle every minute.
Just if you have a schedule like it's so much...
easier to follow through.
Yeah. It's easy to see
your day. Yeah. Yeah.
So I think I
did those things. Okay. That's nice.
Studying and stuff. A lot of advice. Yeah.
Mm hmm.
Yeah. What I do is...
What I do is... Yeah.
Watching other people working hard.
Mm hmm. Is the best...
best thing to me.
Okay. Okay. Like I love
um...
like...
um...
If it's... If it's music.
Mm hmm. If you...
If you need to make music then...
But you don't feel anything. Yeah.
Then see the other
singers. Uh huh.
Live show. Oh...
Okay. Or like if you
need to um...
write a book. Uh huh.
Then you read...
book. Uh huh.
Uh huh. Or like um...
Like see the
Jounetsu Tairiku.
Uh huh. You know those...
documentaries.
Makes me feel like
oh... What am I doing here?
Yeah. Like...
To make something. To do something.
Uh huh. That's...
Oh that's my way. So I don't know
if it's sufficient to everybody but
that's what I do. Uh huh.
Makes me like...
Oh I need to do something. Yeah.
That is also a good... Like a very strong
motivator I think. Yeah.
Watching other people. You know. Yeah.
I love watching those
um... Documentary things. Uh huh.
Jounetsu Tairiku. Professional.
Yeah. Or like...
Interviews. Uh huh.
All those. Yeah.
For...
Juken is um... One of the
toughest
thing to like...
It's long. It's a marathon.
Right? Yeah. Because she's
high school student. Yeah.
She's still got a year of studying
to do. Yeah. It's long.
So...
How you...
How you like... Use your time
is really important.
You know. Yeah. For your vital. Yeah.
So... You know.
You want to keep it going but you know you don't want to die.
Right? You don't want to go so hard.
And just like completely run out of energy.
Burn out. Yeah.
True. No one can run
like 100 percent and
like
marathon. Yeah.
Marathon. You have to...
Preserve your energy.
Right.
Yeah. Right.
So I guess I also understand that
like not being motivated
sometimes is a completely natural thing.
Everybody does
that. Yeah. Like literally everybody.
No one has their motivation
up for a year every day.
Right? They have to do something
09:00
else. They have to keep
like keep their mind off. You know.
Of...
From it. So it's
completely natural that those things happen.
Yeah. Understanding that is I think is important.
Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah.
Any... Any last words?
Um...
Take...
Better sleep.
There you go. That's important.
That's actually important.
Yeah. Better sleep is very important.
Sleeping at like
10 or 11. And then waking up
at like 6 or 7.
Yeah.
Important. Yes.
And make sure that you have
cotton. Clothes.
Oh. Right. Cotton.
Cotton. Yeah. A little bigger than that.
Cotton. Yeah. A little bigger than the window.
Oh.
That's gonna make it... That's like a little awkward.
Don't do that. What? That's gonna make the room so much more
awkward. What?
You're saying you need to cover the window, right? Yeah.
Yeah. So that you can make your room
like much darker. So that
you can have better sleep.
You know. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. But get the
proper size. Yeah.
Thank you. Bye bye.
Bye bye.
