Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Woo!
Okay.
So, we still have Nausicaa-san's topics.
She sent us like several, right?
Yeah, like one, two, three, four, five, six.
That's amazing. Thank you.
And she's saying that, "Hitotsu demo omoshi saigo saretara ureshii desu."
Oh, that's sweet.
We will do all of them.
Because we want topics, right?
We're actually catching up with the topics, kind of, right?
Yeah, actually.
So if you sent us a topic now, we'll definitely cover it on the podcast.
Right.
So, today's topic is, "Hitomishiri shimasu ka? Shimasen ka?"
Oh, that's a great question, actually.
And here's her comment.
Which is the best part.
Which comes on every question, right?
She adds a comment. Okay, let's go.
"Jitsuwa hitomishiri dakedo shigoto switchi ga haeru to daijoubu ni naru hito ga iru to iu hanashi wo yoku kiku no desu ga, o futari wa dou desu ka?
"Chinami ni watashi wa mattaku hitomishiri shimasen."
With a smile.
With a really like, "Ahhh!" kind of smile.
Crying and smiling.
[laughter]
Okay.
Okay.
Hmm.
"Hitomishiri shimasu ka? Shimasen ka?"
That's a good question.
That's a really deep question, and you know how I feel like.
It's not like a... There's several, like, aspects to it, I think.
Do you have an answer for this?
"Hitomishiri wa..."
I don't think...
I would say I don't.
You wouldn't say you won't. So...
I don't have hitomishiri.
You're not gonna say that.
I'm not gonna say...
Wait, so you're not gonna say that you don't have hitomishiri?
I say I don't have hitomishiri.
You say you...
I don't have...
So you're saying you have... You're saying you have hitomishiri?
No, I'm saying I don't have hitomishiri.
You're saying you don't have hitomishiri is what you said.
It is what I said.
Oh, it is what you said.
[laughter]
So I'd rather not say that I don't have any hitomishiri.
Okay, you're saying you don't have hitomishiri.
Okay, I understand that.
Got that. Like a triple negative, maybe?
Yeah.
[laughter]
Simply put, go.
I don't have hitomishiri.
You're not a hitomishiri guy.
On a first layer.
Uh-huh, uh-huh. Gotcha.
Would you say that there's a scenario or a situation where you would be a hitomishiri?
Uh...
In a group conversation I would be.
Oh, yeah.
Like, group of four or three, four, five, six, seven, or more.
03:02
I would be like, not be talkative guy.
But like, it's debatable whether if that psychology is a hitomishiri or not, right?
If you're in a group conversation and you don't feel like talking, like, is that a hitomishiri or is that something else?
Right?
It's simply I don't... I'm not...
Motivated to do so.
Oh, yeah. I'm kind of motivated but I'm not simply good at speaking in a group.
So, it's not my thing actually.
But I'm not hitomishiri. It's a different skill.
Right, right, right, right, right.
So, I'm not hitomishiri.
But, you know, everybody has like second heart.
Like, little one deep feelings and thoughts inside.
When you talk about that, it's maybe I would be hitomishiri.
Like, not opening up easily.
Yeah, yeah.
Would be...
Like, the core.
Yeah, yeah. Agreed.
I would say I'm not a hitomishiri either.
Right.
I would be good at conversation on first contact.
But I think I am more open to my inner layers more than you.
Yeah.
I think.
I would open up faster, I feel like.
And... I feel like a very...
I've said this in the past episode.
But like, the most hitomishiri is like when you're more...
Like when you're in a romantic kind of situation.
Like, I feel more of like hitomishiri.
Because you're more exposed to yourself.
You know what I'm talking about?
It's more of your true inner self.
Because you're more afraid of rejection.
That's why you feel like, oh, it's harder to go at it.
Right?
It's your true reflection of yourself when you get rejected.
So, that's why I feel like in a more romantic kind of situation,
I feel more... I'm more of a hitomishiri-ish character.
But like in general, like in...
Cute.
Cute, right?
You're a cute boy.
I'm a cute boy. I am.
I'm cute.
I feel like in general, I'm not that much of a...
I don't think I'm a hitomishiri.
Yeah.
You know.
I don't think so.
I mean, I don't think you are hitomishiri.
Oh yeah.
Yeah.
But, she's also saying that...
"Jitsu wa hitomishiri dakedo, shigoto switch ga haeru to daijoubu ni naru hito ga iru."
06:10
And I also sometimes I heard that you have a kind of switch.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
Big switch, you know.
Big switch.
Oh yeah.
So, if I'm...
I always say "on" no toki.
Yeah.
Yeah, I say that.
So, when I'm off no toki, that's when I don't really want to talk to anybody.
That's when my energy is kind of low.
Like, I'm just in my zone.
I just want to put my earphones on.
Okay.
And just listen to my, like, K-pop or something.
Listen to my favorite music.
And just, like, be in my head, you know.
Okay.
Just think of what I want to think about, you know.
And just, like, not in the mood for communication with the outer world.
I just want to be in my own world.
I have that...
I have those times.
Yeah.
That's when I'm off.
And when I'm on, that's when I'm, like, in the mood of, like, communicating with other people.
Communicating with... going to nomikais, right?
Okay.
With my circles.
Going to, like, interacting with other TikTokers, right?
Okay.
And, like, filming, right?
Being energetic on film, on camera.
Those are all on modes.
Okay.
Like, so, I would say if I'm off, yeah, I could be hitomishiri.
More like I don't want to talk to somebody.
Okay.
But in a situation that I... when I have to, I would turn myself on, then communicate.
Thus making it easier to communicate.
Yeah.
Right?
That transition from off to on takes a lot of energy.
I think more than other people.
So, I don't... that transition is really, like, stressful for me.
Oh, I have to turn the switch on, then communicate, right?
That's energy consuming.
So, if I'm off, yeah, I would say hitomishiri.
Or, like, I don't want to talk to somebody.
Yeah.
Whereas I'm on, I'm not that much of a hitomishiri.
Right?
Right.
Are you comfortable with you being on?
I... yeah, I am.
I...
It's not something like being stressed.
Well...
Or, like, pressured.
No.
I'm not.
If... it's stressful when I thought I could be off, but had to turn on.
That's when I'm stressful.
Okay.
Like, when I knew... when I... when I know that beforehand, like, okay, I'm going to have to
be on during this time.
Or, like, I'm going to have to be on this whole week.
I'm going to have to be on this whole month.
If I know that, then I'll be ready.
Like, I can be ready.
I don't... it's not stressful.
Yeah.
It's when I... it's when I'm forced... forced to turn on.
09:00
That's when I gotta... that's when the stress kicks in.
Right?
I see.
Yeah.
Right.
Okay.
Right, right, right.
That's on and off.
That's on and off.
Do you have a similar kind of... how much of that do you understand?
I do understand, like, all what you said.
But I... for me, it's not like on and off, like two sides.
Okay.
It's like zero to 100, you know.
It's just...
Okay.
Gradually, like, being on.
Like, I have, like, 50/50.
Okay.
Yeah.
So, when you are off, and on my terms, when you are off and somebody comes up and talks to you,
what happens inside you?
Does it turn into 30 or something?
Yeah.
But actually nothing special, actually, because it's not turning, like, zero to 10, like, 100.
It's just, like, I'm 20 right now, and somebody came to me and talked to me,
like, it will be, like, 21, 22, 23.
Oh, it builds up.
Okay.
And just, it's not something, like, I have to push it up.
Like, it's just...
I will be, like, 40, naturally, gradually.
So, it's not something that I feel, oh, it's uncomfortable, or I have to push me up.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
Mm-hmm.
I think a lot of people are like that.
Mm-hmm.
I think that's your kind of way, right?
I think so.
Right, right.
I get that.
All right.
So...
Yeah.
Yeah.
Ten minutes?
Yeah.
All right, ten minutes.
I have to finish it.
Yeah.
All right.
All right, great.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye.
Bye!
