The Lake
In spring of youth
It was my lot
To hunt of the wide world
A spot
The which
I could not love the less
So lovely
Was the loneliness
Of a wild lake
With black rock bound
And the tall pines that towered around
But when the night
Had thrown her paw
Upon that spot
As upon all
And the mystic wind went by
Murmuring
A melody
Ah then I would awake
To the terror
Of the long lake
Yet that terror
Was not fright
But a tremulous delight
A feeling
Not the jeweled mind
Could teach
Or bright me
To define
Nor love
Although the love
Were thine
Death
Was in that poisonous wave
And in its gulf
A fitting grave
For him whose ends could saw the spring
To his long imagining
Whose solitary soul could make
An Eden
Of that deep
Lake

尝去这荒芜世界的抑郁
现在
我依然爱那个地方
如此可爱
是那湖的凄凉
湖畔黑烟凌虚
苍松高耸入云
可是当黑暗
洒开夜幕
将那湖
与世界
一同罩住
当
神秘的风
在我耳边
悄声诉说着
这时
这时我会醒悟
荒凉
之湖的恐
但这恐怖
并非惧怕
而是
令人震颤的欢愉
这感觉
即使是宝石的矿脉也不能引诱我说明白
爱情也不能
纵然
是你的爱
死亡就在那有毒的涟漪中
深渊里
有块合适的木种
而他能从那木种为孤独的想象
带来安慰
这迷蒙的湖
对他孤寂的灵魂
即是
伊甸园
