Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Hello!
カレーライスは辛いさん。
Okay.
Thank you.
ケビンさん、ヤマチャンさん、こんにちは。
最近ポッドキャストを聞き始めた新参者です。
ネットの記事で、海外で日本人を見分ける方法として
ボーダーの服を着ているのは日本人だという記事を見ました。
Oh wow, okay.
Do you?
I've seen bordered shirts in America.
Like, you know, you go to a mall in America
and you know all these clothes shops there, right?
I think I've seen bordered shirts.
In France too, I've seen many, like, white and blue
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Me too, me too. Especially white and blue.
Yeah, many people.
Maybe it's just that Japanese, like, prefers it a lot more than the Americans?
Yeah, maybe.
Because it is true that, you know,
the frequency of how much bordered shirt you'd see in cities,
sure, I guess Japan is a lot higher.
That's true.
That's true, I get it.
One theory, another theory is that, you know, if it's a very thin line,
like, it might be associated with the prison clothes.
There's this, you know, this iconic image of, like,
I don't know if it's iconic, but like, you know...
Yeah, like those jumpsuit-striped, that looks like a jail clothes.
Oh, white and black?
White and black, yeah, white and black striped jail jumpsuit.
True, true, true.
Maybe that's why, I don't know.
That's why.
Right.
Yeah.
Maybe.
Yeah.
Maybe, maybe, maybe.
But, I mean, it's not, I think...
Highly, maybe.
Maybe.
Possibly.
Yeah.
But, please, maybe, search Paris.
Paris?
Fashion.
Paris.
Fashion, okay.
And then, picture, maybe.
You will see, like, many...
All the masks?
On a border.
That's too...
It's too fashionable.
It's too high brand.
Too branded.
Street.
Yeah, still high branded.
03:05
Look at that.
Okay, there's a woman wearing a striped shirt, white and blue.
Yeah.
This one too?
Yeah, there's another lady in the background.
So, yeah, I guess it's not that rare.
Hmm.
Hmm.
So...
When I was working at Starbucks, there was one way of, like, when you're in a kitchen,
and you don't know, you didn't take the order, you just got the data of, like, what to make,
right?
Because you're in the kitchen, you're not in the cashier.
There's a cashier guy and there's a kitchen guy.
Right?
Whenever I see an Americano, there's a high percentage of that customer being a Korean.
Very high.
Americano.
Americano.
Yeah.
Espresso and water, right?
Yeah.
High percentage.
Like, if there's an Americano in order, high chance that person's Korean.
Wow.
Yeah.
That was surprising, right?
They like Americano.
Yeah.
Hmm.
True.
So you have Americano and you have drip coffee?
Yeah, I think so.
I think we have drip coffee, but, like, I guess...
In Starbucks?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Americano, drip coffee, yeah, cold brew.
But, yeah, more often than not, they would go for the Americano.
Hmm.
That's interesting.
Yeah.
That's interesting.
That's interesting.
Interesting.
They love Americanos.
Hmm.
Yeah.
Because in Japan, it's more dripped coffees.
Yeah.
It's like the main dish.
Like blanched coffee or something, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Hmm.
Hmm.
Iconic things.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Not border.
But, you know, like, fashion is very, somehow, like, very iconic.
I mean...
Yeah, very associated, right?
Yeah.
With the culture.
Yeah.
It's noticeable.
Right, right, right.
Yeah.
It's very noticeable.
I don't...
Still don't know what element exactly make it Japanese.
Yeah.
But I can...
In any countries, I can see, oh, he or she is Japanese.
I can sometimes, like, notice it without anything.
Yeah.
But just looking at him or her with the clothes.
I can distinguish a Chinese person in Japan.
True.
From their outfits.
True.
It's definitely noticeable.
Yeah.
Right?
Like, there's a certain style that the Japanese would never do.
Yes.
But a lot of the Chinese do.
Yes, yes.
Right?
Maybe the color.
Yeah, the color.
Combinations, maybe.
Maybe sort of like a sneaker, like a highlight-colored sneaker with, like, an Adidas sweatshirt.
Yeah.
And a very pinky down shirt.
Yes.
06:00
With, you know, with the high...
Yeah.
That's very Chinese.
Right, right, right.
I see a lot of that.
True, true.
All right.
And there's haircuts, Korean haircuts, that's very noticeable.
True.
Yeah.
Right?
So true.
Right?
Yeah.
I mean, I don't...
Do you think I'm, like, a typical Japanese...
I mean, I think so.
Style?
I think if, yeah, if people outside of Japan sees you, I think you have that...
Me too.
You have that Japanese look.
I mean, yeah.
Like, for me, like, you have, like, nothing, like, typical for me.
Right?
It's average.
Yeah.
It's normal.
You look very...
Like, everyone's wearing it.
Natural.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But that means...
Yeah, it makes sense.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I mean, it's a little different from this one, but when I first saw you, like, in college...
Yeah.
When we first met, I kind of knew that, oh, this guy might came from America or somewhere.
Because of how I was dressing.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like, including, like, the big hoodie.
Yeah.
Gap.
Yeah.
And, like, a shoes.
Polo shirt.
The shoes, yeah.
Yeah, the polo shirt.
Yeah.
And how you dressed.
Right.
How, like, how it fits the body and everything.
Yes.
Yes.
How I wear it.
The pants.
The pants.
Yes.
Especially in shoes, too.
That made me, like, oh, kind of...
Yeah.
Something was...
Something was giving, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I get that.
I get that.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So...
Right.
Right.
I guess there's a lot of factors, right?
Right.
Right.
Right.
Thank you, guys.
Thank you.
Bye.
