Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
Hey guys, how's it going?
All right.
Anything new?
Um, my life?
This week?
Yeah.
Oh, I went to see the movie Spider-Man.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The new one.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
The brand new day, that's the name.
How was it?
Good.
Good?
It was, um, like, uh, I would say it was notMarvel, Marvel.
Where, you know, they have, like, huge explosions.
Okay, yeah, usually there's huge explosions, yeah.
That's Marvel, but it was more like, um, in themind of the Spider-Man.
I see, it's more like a human story?
Yeah, a little bit.
But not too much, though.
Like, there's still the action.
Yeah, it's still the Marvel movie, but yeah, itwas, um, yeah.
They made a lot of Spider-Men so far, have they?
Yes, yes.
Like, a lot.
Yeah.
Like, I think three, four versions.
Okay.
Okay, okay.
Actors, like, different actors.
Oh, is it Tom Holland right now?
Yeah, right now, like, from Marvel, it's TomHolland.
Yeah.
But they have Andrew Garfield.
Like, they have some different Spider-Mans fromdifferent labels, I would say.
Oh, okay, oh, so there's different labels.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, I think, difficult.
Like, they have their own rights.
I see.
This company, that company.
I see, it's a little bit complicated.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so, I think so.
Do you watch them?
Like, have you watched?
Yeah, I saw, I think, the multiverse Spider-Man.
Okay, where some guys saw that, or the Spider-Mansgathered.
Is that the one you saw?
I don't think that's, it's the Spider-Man where
Spidey goes to this digital world and sort of getsall 2D'd.
Okay, which one's that?
I think there was a title, Spider-Man themultiverse something.
Okay.
Huh.
No?
Let me, yeah, I think, yeah, yeah.
I don't have that.
Maybe I just didn't watch that one, maybe.
Spider-Man.
Oh, maybe this one.
Spider-Man across the Spider-Bus.
Yes.
The...
Yes.
Haven't checked that one.
Yeah.
It's like an animation.
It is kind of like an animation.
I think it was like, yeah, I think it was likeanimation 3D, 2D and all that mixed up.
Oh, okay.
03:04
I didn't know that.
Yeah.
I haven't checked that one.
Yeah.
Okay, so it has a whole story of Spider-Man
of the Marvel universe.
Have you ever watched like...
Yeah, I saw the original Spider-Man.
Oh, okay.
What about...
The second one.
Okay.
What about like Marvel's, like whole...
Marvel's Spider-Man?
Like Avengers.
Oh, no, I've never seen that.
Okay, okay.
No.
So right now like Tom Holland, Spider-Man.
Tom Holland's Spider-Man is in the Marveluniverse.
Okay.
So people like Hulk is there.
Yes.
Okay.
The Iron Man.
Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America.
Exactly.
Loki, Thor.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Those ones.
Those people are there.
Yes, yes, yes.
Few years ago, they had this movie called TheEndgame.
Like Avengers, The Endgame.
And they had like huge enemy and they tried tokill that guy.
And the Avengers side, they had to sacrificethemselves.
And people won't remember you.
Like you have to sacrifice yourself.
Like secretly.
Yeah, to save people.
Okay.
You're going to be an unnamed hero.
Yes, exactly.
People are not going to know you.
Right.
And some of them like gone.
Like literally like some of them like...
Their character story ended.
Yeah, yeah.
But Spider-Man, he's still alive.
Okay.
But nobody remembers him.
Okay, okay.
And that was the end of The Endgame, the lastmovie.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
No, Endgame.
Yeah, but basically that's the whole story.
So including the lover, the best friend.
Right.
People like nobody remembers him.
Right.
And that's where this now, right now, like a brandnew brand new day movie started.
I see, I see.
Seems like an interesting movie.
Yeah.
So the Spider-Man meet the girlfriend.
Zendaya, right?
Zendaya.
Yeah.
But she doesn't remember him.
Right, right.
At all.
But obviously Spider-Man, Tom Holland obviouslyremembers her and still love her.
And yeah.
That's the drama.
Yes.
Yeah, I saw the trailer for that.
And yeah, that scene was there.
Tom Holland was at a house party.
Zendaya was there.
Oh yeah, like a burning flower.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, nice flowers.
Like, oh, hey, hi.
Yeah.
What's your name?
Friendly neighbor.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.
Exactly.
Right.
Yeah.
Good, good, good movie?
Good movie.
Yeah, I would say.
Okay.
Good movie, yes.
06:01
But I think it's one of the new chapter.
Like, it's the movie meant to be like an openingfor the new chapter of Marvel, I think.
So, yeah.
Yeah.
How about, have you seen, did you see Toy Story 5?
No, not yet.
Okay.
Are you, yeah, yeah, I saw it.
Are you following Toy Story story?
Not actually.
Not actually.
I think I remember, I saw one too, I think.
But after that, I, maybe yes, but maybe veryblurred.
You know, do you remember Gabby Gabby?
What's that?
Okay, so you didn't see it.
Maybe, yeah, maybe.
Like, or Forky.
I think that sound, that sounds familiar, Forky.
Yeah.
But yeah, I didn't see it.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
You saw the five.
Yeah, I saw five.
Yeah, and I was like.
Is it on now?
I think it's, yeah, it's already almost over.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
I wanted to hear your take on it.
Ah, okay.
Yeah, but yeah.
Okay.
For me, it was like, hmm.
It's a little bit, hmm, yeah.
Okay.
Okay, I want to hear about that.
Yeah.
So, you know, Toy Story is about toys being alive.
Yes.
And the relationship with their owners.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Their role is to, you know, provide the ownerswith the best time.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When they play with them.
Yes.
And now, their kids are, kids, you know, they moveon.
They don't play with toys, you know, when theygrow older.
Okay.
Right?
So, the first solution to that was to, Andy, thefirst owner of the toys.
The boy.
Gave it to a neighbor, neighbor girl.
And then, hey, these are my very important toys.
Here, you get to play.
And then, she's the new owner, right?
And now, right now, Toy Story 5 was aboutdigitalization and how kids don't play with toysanymore.
And they're all smartphones and tablets and stufflike that.
And the answer to that was kind of, hmm.
I see.
Yeah, for me.
Yeah.
So, if you haven't seen it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think it's the very core of the movie.
There's going to be a, what do you call it?
McDonnell.
Spoiler.
Spoiler.
So, stop listening to it if you want to watch it.
Right.
Their solution was, I'm scared that my owners aregonna throw me away.
But I'm scared because my past owner threw meaway.
09:01
Okay, okay.
And right now, my owner right now is still playingwith me.
But I'm scared that it's gonna happen again.
Okay.
That was the problem.
Yeah, yeah.
The solution was, that trauma was not what the toythought it was.
The first owner didn't actually throw her away.
Yeah.
The first owner still loved the toy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And the toy was like, oh, it was not a trauma.
It was, the first owner still loved me.
That was the solution.
And for me, that was like, well, you still didn'tanswer to,
what if the current owner don't want to play withtoys anymore
and decided to move on?
What's the Pixar's answer towards that?
Was, yeah, I still have that.
Yeah.
True.
Yeah.
So to you, it was like, yeah, still like somethingleft.
Right, there was the unanswered question of like,
what's the toy's happiness gonna be?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, after the owners moved on.
True.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It was a story spotlighted on the certain girltoy, right?
Okay.
Along the story, there were all these other toys
that were being thrown away by other kids
because they moved on to smartphones and tablets.
They were like, you know, they were in the forest,
all, you know, dirty and broken.
Oh, that's sad.
Yeah, it's sad.
And Andy, the cowboy.
Yeah.
Not Andy, sorry.
The cowboy's name, forgot.
But Woody.
Woody, yeah.
Woody, very controversial.
But in Toy Story 4, what Woody's answer was to,
when he accidentally was brought to like a distantlocation
from the owner, Woody tried to come back to theowner.
Okay.
It was accidental though.
It was accidental.
Woody tried to go back to the owner,
but his answer was like, you know what?
I'm not going to go back to my owner.
I'm going to find my own happiness.
Wow.
And he left.
That was Toy Story 4.
Wow.
That was interesting for me as well.
Very interesting for me.
I loved it.
Okay, okay.
But yeah, so Toy Story 5.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
So right now, so far, Pixar's answer to like,
what would happen to the toys after they're, youknow,
they're done is one, being thrown away.
Two, go off finding their own happiness.
And really, that's the Pixar answer is kind oflike,
what, really?
Yeah.
I see.
Yeah.
Okay.
Right.
Maybe they need Toy Story 6.
Right.
To answer that.
To cover all those things.
Hopefully.
Hopefully that would happen.
12:00
Yeah.
I don't know.
I see, I see.
Yeah.
But Toy Story 4 sounds very interesting.
It is very interesting.
It's one of my most favorite series.
Yeah.
Oh, I should, yeah.
I should see that.
Nice, nice.
All right.
Thanks for sitting, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
