Welcome to Kevin's English Room. Oh god, oh the table almost fell. All right.
We have a shout out on this one. Okay, okay. On Amazon Music, we are doing a show called Kevin's
English Room Podcast Plus. It's a five-minute spin-off version of this show where we answer
English questions we get from our listeners. Is the camera tilted a little bit? Yeah, I feel like
okay. I like that way. Well, too bad. We'll fix that in the next episode.
Yeah, it's free. All you have to do is download Amazon Music, the app, and then search for our
show, Kevin's English Room Podcast Plus, and you get to listen to this one. And right before it,
you get to have the plus attached onto it at the beginning. So try it out, guys. It's free.
All right, all right, all right. And there's not going to be any, we're not going to, there's
actually people, a lot of people think, oh, it's going to be free at the beginning, and then later
you're going to have to pay for it after like five episodes or something. No. Well, there's nothing
to buy. We're not providing anything to buy. So, yeah. It's just, we're doing nothing. We're not,
it's just free. Yeah, we're not selling you guys anything. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just,
yeah, it's Amazon wants us to have the program on Amazon. So that's where the transactions are.
Nothing from us to you guys. Right, right, right. They just want, they just want, like,
as many listeners as possible on that Amazon Music platform. Yes. Yeah. That's their goal. Yeah.
Yeah. You know what's weird? Not weird, but like, what I hate? Okay. So, for example, YouTube,
日本のポッドキャストの課題
they have a great monetization system. Podcast does not, in Japan, not like,
unlike United States, does not have a monetization system. Right. So, what the fuck?
I mean, didn't say like, they were going to, like, build that system. Yeah. We've been told
many times that Japan's working on having great monetization. No. Didn't they told us, like,
they were, like, trying to, like, trial session of, like, things. Yes. Going on in it. Yes.
But, no. Nothing's happening. Okay. Nothing is happening.
But, whereas in the USA, they have that system. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like YouTube. Okay. You
don't have to have direct sponsorship from anybody. It's just like, you'd have, like,
an open position. Okay. And sort of the broadcasters, the social media side will
bring in the advertisers to your show and sort of fills in the spots. So,
we don't have, like, do a direct dealership with a certain brand. Yeah.
They should better have that system as soon as possible in Japan. I know, right? I know.
Like, then, like, why... They're missing out. Yeah. I mean, there's a tension here. Yeah,
yeah, yeah. They're missing out. Yeah. Really. I mean, the advertisers are missing out. Right.
Absolutely. Yeah. We're open for that. Oh, yeah. I mean, that's true. We're open for that. We're
open for the whole podcast world to be monetized, right? To be able to... We would love to. Yeah.
So, like, that's, you know, for example, like, for me, the reason why I do this every week,
once a week, is just I want to improve my English. And I have you here and you can have
conversation. That's why I'm doing this. But, like, for most of the people, like, why then,
like, they keep recording and posting in every, I don't know, once a while, do, like, those
hustles. Right. For... For what? Yeah. Like, money is one of the biggest, like... Right.
Incentives. Yeah. So... For content creation. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right. So, they, I mean,
the streamers, like, the platformers... Yeah. Should, like, organize that. Really get it. I
know, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I just don't know what's happening. Yeah. True. But I feel like,
if anybody... Okay, we're gonna talk about YouTube, but I shouldn't. Okay. Yeah. Okay.
Because of, like, certain sponsorships that we're holding. Yes, yes. Okay. I'm gonna be
a responsible adult. Yeah, of course. Not talk about the key players. Yes, yes, yes.
But to sort of get a feel of what I was about to say, YouTube has now, like, a dedicated tab
for podcasting. Right. So, they started out with, like, the normal video, and then
they had their dedicated short section, and then now they have the podcast section, right? So,
maybe someday, starting with YouTube, maybe. Yeah. They could, you know, start to
日本のポッドキャストの収益化問題
be able to monetize podcasting. Yeah. Hopefully. Right. Yeah. And hopefully,
Amazon Music should... I know! Please do it, like... Please do. Please do.
Other than that, the YouTube thing. Yes, yes. That would be... Please do.
Yeah. Yeah. Right. Should be. Should be. Yeah. Like, it's like the stadium of the football
without any advertisement on the wall, right? Yeah. You can have, like, many places to...
That's true. That's true. It's, like, all blank and... Yeah. It's true. It's, like, missing.
But I guess it's, like... Well, we do get several emails on, like,
sponsorships for the show, but they're all foreign brands. What? Foreign brands, like,
non-Japanese companies that, sort of, emailed to us cold. Okay. I've never heard of any of
the brands. Okay. So, I don't really tap into it that much. Well, yeah. So, I don't... We hardly
ever get any brand deals from Japan, Japanese companies. It's very rare. Yeah. Very rare.
Maybe because we're doing it in English, but... Yeah. But, you know, most of the listeners are
Japanese, right? That wants to learn English. So, it's interesting how the dynamic isn't working
out. Yeah. It's interesting. It's interesting. Right. Yeah. I feel like there were... I feel
like we've got great listeners, like, if you compare to, like, you know... I don't know what
you're trying to say here. I mean, this is quite, like, a good show. Oh, yeah. And we've got great
listeners, like, you know? Right. Yeah. Yeah. Compared to, like... I don't know what you're
trying to say here. I don't know what... I don't know where you're going with this.
Yeah. Yeah. So, but our stance is, let's... Why don't we have... Why aren't we monetizing?
Why aren't the Japanese podcast realm not being monetized? What's going on with that?
I mean, we really don't want listeners to pay things, but... Yeah. There should be, like,
things we can do. Yeah. To... Right. Use this. Yeah. To... This attention, right? Yeah. Yeah.
Absolutely. Absolutely. Yeah. Do you have anything to advertise right now? Why don't we...
Your music... Why don't you go ahead and advertise your music? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh,
yeah. True. Yeah. Just plug it in, man. Plug it in. Yeah. I mean... Do you got anything to...
Yeah. Plug? Yeah. I'm gonna have a show. Okay. In the mid and end of April at Billboard.
Oh, shit. Yes. Yokohama and Osaka. Oh, shit. Yokohama's, like, all sold out, but I think we
still have some tickets on Billboard Osaka, so... Oh, shit. Yeah. Well, that's exciting. Yeah. Yeah.
Okay. Okay. You've been really, like, working on that. Yeah. Your live events and concerts and
tour and all that stuff. Yes. Wow. Yes. Nice. So excited for that. Wow. It's the Billboard, man.
The Billboard? Yeah. Oh, I would be nervous. Yeah. If we're on Billboard. Yeah, me too.
Oh, wow. Good luck, man. Yeah. Well, thank you. Thank you. Yeah. Okay. Yeah. So,
I will email you the Seikyusho for the ad later, so just heads up for that.
Right. So, all right. Thanks. Oh, let me plug... Oh, no. No. Sorry. I was gonna say something
about my YouTube channel, but I forgot that I was trying to make it anonymous,
and so I was like, nah. Yeah, and plus you have to pay for that stuff. Oh,
yeah. I have to pay for that stuff. Not a good deal. Nope.
All right. So, thanks for listening, guys. Thank you. Bye-bye.
