お花見の体験
Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Hello!
Oh, how you guys doing?
Sorry for late again.
Oh no, no worries man.
No problem.
Like usual.
I know, we all know.
We all know how it goes.
Still.
How are you?
Yeah, good.
Good?
Well, today's great.
Pretty great.
Alright.
Beautiful day.
Spring's a beautiful day.
Did you do Hanami's?
Yeah, I think one of our friends gave you a message, right?
Like a few days ago.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I went there.
Yeah, I heard.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, pretty...
Four.
Me.
The four.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The girl.
And, you know, my friend.
You know, our friend.
Yeah, yeah, our friend.
And then, girl's friend.
Which we never met before.
Oh, okay.
And I didn't know.
Like, we were like, oh.
Oh, she was there.
And like...
Did you know that that person was going to be there?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
She told me.
But yeah.
Oh, my friend's going to be here, guys.
And you guys were like, oh.
Yeah.
You know that person?
No.
And we were like, ah.
Ah, nice to meet you.
And like...
But it was fun.
It was fun.
Yeah.
It was like, pretty like, authentic Hanami, right?
Oh, really?
Like, we went to like, huge park.
And then there were so many people.
Oh, really?
Like, with vinyl seat, with bentos.
And with like, canned osakes.
Oh, like the classic.
Yeah.
And we were filled with those like, Hanami people.
Yeah.
So it was like, I guess it was my first experience of like, you know, the cliché Hanami.
お花見の飲食の文化
Oh, okay.
We went there and like, doing vinyl seat and like, gather like, for, you know, or more.
Wow.
Yeah.
I went like, alone or like, with two and just sitting and watching the sakura trees.
Well, like, yeah.
But it was first time for like, you know, the real Hanami.
You guys never did it in groups.
Yeah, yeah.
Did you guys like, do Uber or something?
Did you...
No.
What did you guys do?
I...
We had nothing, actually.
Oh, so like, no...
So you guys had those sheets.
Yeah, but...
That little blue sheet.
Yeah, blue sheet was literally really little.
Like, this size.
Wow.
Like, literally.
Yeah.
So me and that friend sit together.
It's like for two.
Yeah.
And the other was like, sitting on the bench.
Okay.
And we were like this.
We're sitting on the ground and other was sitting on the bench and we were like this.
And you know, she is kind of very freedom lady, right?
Yes, she is.
Yeah, yeah.
She's very unplanned.
Yeah, yeah.
And I like that.
I like that.
But as usual, she actually prepared like almost nothing.
So there was no food.
And we were just sitting and just chatting.
お花見の日和
I mean, I guess that's...
But that was fun.
That's enjoyable, right?
Yeah, that was really fun.
So I brought some snacks from New York.
Oh, that's cool.
Yeah, so we had Skittles.
Skittles of Hanami.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, but that was fun.
Yeah, I mean, the day...
I know which day you guys went.
Yeah, yeah.
It was a pretty warm day, wasn't it?
It was really warm day.
Like sunny day.
I guess that's the best day for Hanami.
Perfect weather.
Well, how was the Sakura?
Was it still there?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Still there, but it wasn't like 100% of course.
It was like 50%, I guess.
Yeah, some of them were like getting Hazakura already.
But yeah, still enjoyable.
It was pretty beautiful.
Right, right, right, right.
Yeah.
I went to Hanami as well.
I think the day before you guys went there.
Was that a great day?
It was also a great day.
Oh, good, good, good.
Perfect temperature.
But what I noticed was that...
I first went to Ueno Park.
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I know how it's really famous for like the...
The Ohanami's and everything.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But so many people.
True.
What I realized was that it's better to go somewhere random.
Like that's somewhere that's not more famous.
Okay.
You know how a lot of places has a lot of Sakura's?
Like you go to a random spot and there's the beautiful Sakura.
Yeah, even...
But no one's there.
Like the famous park or just random...
Yeah, spot.
Right, some random spot.
True.
And what I thought was if you want to like relax and just really look at Sakura's,
I feel like it's better not to go to those popular places.
That's right.
But rather like find like a sub popular like the second tier, third tier kind of place.
Famous place.
Right.
Yeah.
花見スポットの比較
Even if it's not a famous place, the Sakura's still very like beautiful, right?
Yes, true.
I found that...
Do you know Mizumachi?
Like...
Ah, the Soramachi.
The Soramachi, like around the Asakusa's and...
Exactly.
Like somewhere in the middle of Asakusa and Skytree, there was like this place called Mizumachi.
Like a new place, no?
Yeah, I think it's rather a new place.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
The shops in Mizumachi is pretty...
It looked new.
Okay, wow.
I think it's new.
So that place had just as much Sakura as Ueno Park.
Wow.
But with much less people.
Oh.
Much more relaxing.
Right, then.
So I...
Wow.
Yeah.
That's a...
I guess that's a better choice if you really want to relax and...
Right, just to see the Sakura.
Have a sit down.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
True.
Yeah.
The place we went to was like filled with...
お花見 at a famous park
That's a famous park too.
So it was filled with like, you know, drunk people.
Filled with like, you know, packed with those, you know, Kisho Hanami people.
So we were like, yeah.
Was it the situation where it was actually hard to find a spot?
Yeah.
Was it that crowded?
That crowded.
Yeah.
But we could kind of manage the place.
It wasn't that like, no place at all.
What time did you guys arrive?
It was like around one.
Around one?
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
So it wasn't...
So they weren't that drunk.
You know, if...
Because it's not at night.
Yeah, yeah.
If it was like night, then everybody would be like very drunk and like...
Right.
The place would be a mess.
But yeah, it was daytime and we were like rather like having a happy atmosphere.
I see.
So yeah, that was a relief.
Yeah.
But it was fun.
Meeting an old friend
Did it first time for like very authentic Ohanami.
Right.
It was fun.
Very first cliche Ohanami.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And it was actually a while since I met her last time.
Last.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess like three or two or three years.
Oh, yeah.
Yeah.
He hasn't changed at all.
She hasn't changed at all.
She talks a lot.
Same energy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Great.
Love it.
That person has a very unique energy.
Yeah.
Very...
Very positive, unpredictable.
Yeah, unpredictable.
Questionable.
Many times.
Why?
Why would you...
I love her.
Right, right.
But sometimes conversation goes like I say something and she replies to like completely
different side from like this.
Left field.
Yeah.
And I asked that question to this response and she answered like this and okay.
I get that.
Messages and missed opportunities
Yeah, yeah.
I get how that feels.
It was fun.
Yeah.
I got it.
Rolling coaster thing.
I got it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
She also mentioned about you.
Yeah.
What did she say?
Yeah, yeah.
Just sent a message to you.
Oh, right, right.
Yeah.
He was like, you know, it was a bit far from the place.
Yeah, it was very far.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
When I noticed the message, it was like...
I think it was like 4 p.m.
Yeah, yeah.
We almost done.
So...
It's like, no, it's too far.
Right, right.
It was fun.
Yeah.
Yeah.
True.
Yeah.
You should have brought your soccer ball.
That would have been fun.
Right.
Right.
I mean, you guys are...
Yeah, yeah.
And then she loves doing those like sports things.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
True.
That would have been fun.
Yeah.
In the crowd.
In the crowd.
Kick the ball.
Right.
All right.
Great.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Chapter 1
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
Bye-bye.Bye.
