Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
All right.
Good morning.
Good morning.
As usual, your voice is all clocked up.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And I just, because that's just because I woke up this morning, in the morning.
Right, right, right.
We're doing it an hour earlier than usual.
Yeah, yeah.
That's why.
It just gets like this when I woke up.
In the mornings?
In the mornings, yeah.
Okay.
A bit, you know, cooler, I'd say.
Don't need time to wake up a little bit, right?
Yeah, like a deep, deep voice, like a...
Yeah.
Cool.
Oh, you don't sound cool, by the way.
ケビンの声変化について
Sound cool.
Oh, Yamachan, you don't sound cool that, by the way.
I mean, to me, it's cool.
Don't worry.
To me, it's cool.
Don't worry, Yamachan.
Sounding cool inside me.
Oh, from your end?
Yeah, yeah.
From my end, so I'm happy.
Like, I really wish I could keep this voice for like, whole day.
But it's gonna be like, getting like, lighter and lighter.
Like even now, I kind of, my voice is getting lighter and lighter.
As you're talking?
Yeah, more I speak, it gets lighter and lighter, so I don't...
I prefer keep my voice like, the full, whole day, but...
You sound too mellow to me.
What?
You sound too mellow.
What do you mean mellow?
Mellow, like you're too chill.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
I like it though.
Like, "Uh, yeah, hey, guys."
Like a lazy?
Yeah, kind of lazy.
Yeah.
And it does kind of change your like, first impression.
声が印象に与える影響
The character?
Right, right, right.
Like, bright and like, friendly enough.
Right, right, right.
I probably wouldn't ask you to take care of my investments.
I wouldn't do that.
Yeah, yeah.
I get that.
It's like, it gets like, more...
Like to me, it's getting more like, wild, lazy, and like, drunk a bit.
Yeah, yeah.
Like someone like, you know, wearing like leather jackets and like, go outside and drink
all day.
Kind of, you know.
Yeah, I would call you to drink with me on a Friday night though.
Yeah, I like those like, you know, wild, like, not fit into the society kind of guy.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Preparing for the trip to the United States
By the way, today is our last day before we go to the United States.
Oh yeah.
Last, not last day, last recording day.
Yes, yes, yes.
Last day we meet together.
Right, right.
Next time we're going to meet, we'll be at the airport.
Yeah.
Yes.
How are you feeling?
I'm, well, actually, I'm kind of a bit nervous.
Yeah, I mean, right.
I mean, it's something that we don't usually do, right?
Like, it's irregular, right?
It's like, so how did, like, when was the last time you traveled to like overseas?
That was, last time was, I think Korea.
I think I went to Korea.
When was that?
That was, I don't know, like three years ago.
But it's like, okay, after you like being a Shakaijin?
After yeah, after being Shakaijin.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
So, I, the last time I went to overseas was same Korea.
But it was like, when I entered the company, it was like a kinshuryokko to Korea.
So it's like, what is it, four years?
Four years.
Yeah, four years ago?
Yeah, four years ago.
Right.
And, you know, that was just kinshuryokko.
So I actually did nothing.
I just went to the company and then they brought me to Korea and I did nothing about like tickets,
like you know, everything.
So, it's like actually my almost first time that I kind of do the like tetsuzuki things
アメリカでの独立生活への不安
by myself.
Oh really?
Well, that's at first.
Given the fact that you go overseas a lot, like you experienced a lot of overseas and
like and from that I thought you've had a lot of those experiences.
Yeah.
That's what I thought.
I've been thinking about actually like, you know, I went to like, for example, France,
that was when I was a high school student.
And it wasn't me who like control everything.
Okay.
I like kind of.
There was a middleman.
Yeah.
There's like a, there are always like an organization that, you know, did it.
Right.
And so I was like, yeah, I didn't, you know, I didn't like reserve the hotel, for example.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And they're always like host family.
Right.
You know, other side.
That's true.
So, yeah.
So I got a bit nervous.
I mean, still even with this, I mean, there's still, we still have middlemans, right?
Like there's, it's a Jisan.
There's the other end of the client there.
Yeah.
Waiting for the, in the US.
True.
Right.
But not for like life, like for the, we're going to stay alone, right?
Outside of work.
Yeah.
It's all up to us.
Yeah.
Yeah.
For example, like what about we get sick?
We need to like.
Right.
That's, that's on us.
Right.
So that's kind of new to me.
And I kind of get like a bit nervous.
So what if like we got like injuries or like get sick?
Oh.
Like, like rough maybe.
Right.
Right.
You never know.
Yeah.
Could be.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I've always thought that you were kind of like the adventurous type where like you get
adrenaline from this kind of situation.
Yeah.
I'm kind of a little bit surprised that you were kind of like, Oh, kind of like, what
if this happens?
What if this happens?
Kind of worried.
Yeah, I do.
Like I do this like before, like until the day before I do like get like, Oh, I can't
do this anymore.
And I get nervous.
And then, but you know, once it starts, like I start like carrying nothing.
Right, right, right.
The action's there.
Yeah.
It's all fun and exciting.
But until it starts, like I don't like preparing times.
Yeah.
Yeah.
What's the one thing that you're excited for doing in the United States?
Okay.
We're not sure that we will have enough time for that.
Yeah.
Planning to attend live shows and theaters
But I try to, but I'm actually trying to and planning to go to like lives.
Oh, okay.
And like music or like theaters.
I see, I see.
As much as possible.
Yeah.
If we have time.
Is that, do you have to reserve tickets for that?
Or is that like, just go on the spot?
Yeah, if you want to go like famous one, you need to reserve tickets.
But if it's just local live house or small gigs, they need to just go in.
Oh, okay.
So.
Oh, wow.
That's fun.
Yeah.
So at first I wanted to reserve some tickets, but you know.
We never know what the schedule is going to be.
So I gave up on reserving.
And I kind of now planning to like researching like every night's show.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
You know, get the time.
Okay.
But I feel like, you know, if it's late at night, it's very possible, right?
I mean, I don't think our schedule is going to be continuing for like, I don't know, like
if it was like 8pm, I'm sure it'll be done by then.
Right.
Then I can reserve that.
Planning the Trip to New York
Right.
Yeah.
If nothing happens, right?
Nothing's nothing weird happens.
Like troubles or like.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's one thing.
Yeah.
And one more thing is I have actually a friend, high school friend who live in Manhattan.
Oh, wow.
Yeah.
So maybe I can visit visit her like a.
Maybe.
Yeah.
Right.
Right.
Yeah.
Oh, it's probably okay.
It's going to be published on the 20th.
So.
Okay.
Yeah.
I also have a high school friend who lives in New York as well.
That person is working with Yamada sensei from the.
Oh, right.
Oh, yeah.
You told me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
That person is, yeah, in New York.
Connected.
And like, hey, I think I'm going to New York.
Oh, like, oh, my God, we got to catch up.
Wow.
Yeah.
Cool.
Yeah.
So you're going to hang out with Yamada sensei, right?
So far, Yamada sensei's not in the picture, but I'm sure I'm sure we I don't know if he's
available.
Yeah.
Like, let's go.
Like, I don't know if he's the kind of guy that would come.
I'm sure he's pretty busy, though.
Yeah, probably.
Yeah.
But that'll be fun, though.
Yeah.
Have him on.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
Go to like a really, really expensive, like extremely expensive restaurant.
Like.
You know what I'm trying to do.
But yeah.
Excitement for Food in America
But I'm also excited for the food.
Food.
Yeah.
Very excited.
Yeah.
For example, like pizzas.
Fast food restaurants.
Yeah.
Oh, that me too.
Yeah.
I want to experience those like the authentic.
Yeah.
Like American.
Right.
Those, you know, pizza, hot dog.
Discussion about unhealthy fast food
Yeah.
Junk.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Authentic junk.
Authentic junk.
Authentic unhealthy shit.
That's going to ruin your fucking body.
Yeah.
Is it like, are those really bad for your health?
They're just as bad as what you get in Japan.
I mean, I wouldn't say they're much worse.
Like they're probably just as bad.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Then like pretty bad then.
Yeah.
Pretty bad.
Okay.
But it's not like something way more oily, like salty.
I would say just slightly though.
But like I wouldn't say drastically.
Like that wouldn't, I wouldn't go so far as to saying it's like double the oil.
Like that's not, I don't, I don't think that's.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
Wow.
Difference in food portions between US and Japan
So maybe like maybe the size.
Yeah.
Size.
Sure.
Size.
Maybe more salt.
Oh, more salt.
You get more fries too.
Right.
Like the amount of fries you got per meal.
Right.
Yeah.
That's a lot.
So you might, that you would consider, you can consider that unhealthy, right?
Like that's more unhealthy.
Right.
It's, it's a right.
Basically more sloppy.
Okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
You get what I'm saying?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I guess that's about it.
Like, you know, like I wouldn't, yeah.
Yeah.
But still it's good though.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Taste is good though.
Comparison between the speaker and his friend in their experience with fast food
Do you think?
So, so I'm not the guy who have been eating those foods.
Yeah.
Since I was a kid.
Okay.
Like you, right?
Yes.
You've been.
Yes, I have.
You know, living your life with those foods.
Yeah.
Getting used to those.
Yes.
And I'm kind of first time trying those food guy.
No chapter identified
Okay.
Yes.
Do you think those authentic junks are delicious enough for like, for like first time biting
people?
Well, let me answer that on the next episode.
Okay.
Yes.
Okay.
All right.
