Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Hello guys!
Alright, this program is brought to you by
"Kimi no Koi wo Todokeyou" Anchor!
We are using an app called Anchor to create and distribute this podcast.
It's got all the features you need when you're starting out your own podcast program.
It's free, you can download it off of Google Play or on the App Store.
So we are very excited to hearing out your very first episode!
Yay! Alright!
That was, I think that was better than what I had originally.
Really? So I think that was an improvement.
Okay, good. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Um... But still?
But still, I feel like there's a better one.
True. Let's try to find the best one.
Alright, okay.
Uh, so we are moving on to the next voice message.
We've got a lot of voice messages to cover.
Cool.
You know, I... There are so many voice messages.
Yeah.
Like text messages we've got.
And this is so amazing and we are so happy.
But I noticed that, um, you know, this is one episode, one day.
Okay.
It's, you know, that we do, right?
So if we got, if we get like two messages at one day,
then we will never be able to reach.
Oh yeah.
To that, you know.
True, true.
That's what I noticed recently.
Oh.
Well, I mean there could be some day where we get zero messages.
Oh yeah.
It's possible.
True.
Right? That could be like a catch up day.
Okay, catch up day.
Right? So we don't know that, right?
Yeah.
We don't know that, yeah.
Of course, of course.
Right?
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So the next voice message.
Yeah.
Here we go.
Hi, I'm Etsuko.
I'm a huge fan of your show.
How huge?
My day isn't complete without listening to it.
I particularly enjoy Kevin's intense a pronunciation as in anger and Yama-chan's awe with a variety
of shades.
This is my first attempt to leave a voice message and it's about Christmas time.
When my attention is on melodies, all the songs sound just beautiful and romantic.
But once my focus is shifted to the lyrics, some of them are quite gloomy, I realized.
Okay.
So if you two could handpick one or two really, really cheerful ones for me, for us all, that
would be great.
Thank you.
Happy holidays.
Happy holidays.
January 16th.
All right.
Thank you.
Merry Christmas.
Merry Christmas, guys.
Yeah.
And you probably sent us before Christmas.
Yeah.
We're still catching up to the...
Yeah.
The voice message request.
03:07
Sorry about that.
Yeah.
Sorry about the time lag here.
Okay.
Yeah.
Do you agree?
Yeah, I agree with that.
When you start focusing on lyrics?
Yeah.
Like, you know, the all sounds are like really bright and like, you know, full of joy, basically.
But, you know, lyrics are not always happy.
Okay.
There are some, you know, lonely one, sad one, gloomy one.
So I agree with that.
Are you talking about Christmas songs in particular?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I agree.
Yeah.
I agree.
Like, in Christmas songs, there are so many, like, bells.
Uh-huh.
Like, shan-shan-shan-shan-shan.
Right.
Right, right, right.
So that, you know, we feel brightness.
Mm-hmm.
But, you know...
Yeah.
I remember I talked about a movie called Love Hard.
Yeah.
The matching app kind of disaster story.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Comedy one.
Yeah, a comedy.
And one of the lines mentioned, "Baby, it's cold outside."
That movie, what is it?
I don't remember what it's called.
What was that?
It's cold outside.
The song?
Yeah.
Do you know it?
I think it's a very popular Christmas song.
But I don't know if you know.
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[MUSIC PLAYING]
[MUSIC PLAYING]
No?
Um, no.
Oh, OK.
Well, it's a Christmas song called "Baby, it's cold outside."
Well, it sounds beautiful.
Yeah.
But in the movie, they mentioned that this is just a sexual harassment song.
OK.
That this girl, the girl's trying to go home, but the man's trying to keep her in.
OK.
Which is kind of like a sexual harassment kind of thing.
OK, OK.
Right?
That was kind of funny for me.
OK.
And--
[LAUGHTER]
So they used this song as a comedy, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I also feel like there's a lot of lyrics that I don't understand on Christmas songs.
Oh, OK.
Like--
[HUMMING]
[HUMMING]
06:01
Yeah.
[HUMMING]
It's the most wonderful time.
It's the most wonderful time of the year.
The most wonderful time of the year.
Is that the title?
I think one of the song-- one of the lyrics goes like, "in gay happy meetings."
What does that mean?
Like with those-- ah.
[HUMMING]
What the-- what is that?
Yeah.
I actually searched that word, actually.
Oh, OK, OK, OK.
Me too, I was, what?
Yeah.
And so many Christmas songs contains this word, gay.
Yeah.
Like Yuletide gay.
Oh, right.
True, true, true.
Yeah, and I was-- OK.
So we were like in the same position.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And I searched about this word.
And originally, this word means bright joy.
Oh, really?
Happiness.
Oh, OK.
Yeah.
Oh, that's why.
So--
Ah.
So-- and it turns into gay--
Cultural slang.
Yeah, people.
But originally, it's like happy vibes and cheerful and bright vibes.
OK, I didn't know that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
That's why.
Yeah.
OK, got it, got it, got it.
Me too, I was-- oh, is that--
Can I sing this now?
Like is that-- am I being inappropriate?
Yeah, should I change this word into a different one?
But yeah.
Yeah, I won't offend anybody.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
OK, so that's what it meant.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh.
OK.
Yeah.
You know, I love "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
And in that song--
Oh, wait, I think your microphone's--
Sure.
Thank you.
All right.
Yeah, I love the song called "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."
And in that song, you type "gay."
Right.
And--
Right.
Oh.
What does that mean?
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah.
So you agree with the fact that when you start focusing on lyrics, it's just a little--
Yeah, no.
Not as bright.
Yeah, no.
Yeah, true, true.
So do you have any recommendations, as she asked?
Yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
09:10
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think it's just a little bit of a--
Yeah, yeah.
I think, you probably know this, but some of the listeners, something like the minor Christmas
songs, but I still love.
One of them is Christmas in the Sand.
Christmas in the Sand.
In the sand, like beach.
It's by Colby K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
K--
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's Santa Claus.
It's a Santa.
It's a very Pappy song.
Let me just get to the main part.
Yeah, you introduced me once.
Oh, really, did I?
No.
I saw Santa in his bathing suit.
Trying to catch a wave, but he tried too soon.
He laughed so hard that he could barely breathe.
And washed up next to me.
Yeah, nice.
It's about seeing all the things that you can't see.
And all the things that you can't see.
And all the things that you can't see.
And all the things that you can't see.
And all the things that you can't see.
And all the things that you can't see.
It's about seeing-- oh, there's Santa.
He's surfing.
Oh, okay, okay.
Right.
I don't know what the true meaning is, but that's what the lyrics say.
She saw Santa in the sand at the beach surfing.
And that was joyful.
That's what she says.
Maybe she's from Australia.
Maybe.
Maybe, maybe.
Yeah.
Yeah, that's nice.
What I want to recommend.
All right.
There you go.
There we go.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
Thanks for listening guys!
Thank you!
Bye bye!
