あなたの至福の時間は?

I'm really grateful that I've been able to have time to do my 至福の時間

00:00
Welcome to Kevin's English Room podcast.
Here we go.
Sorry, it was so quiet. We're still in the same cafe.
How many episodes?
I'm sure you guys are wondering how long are you gonna keep this background running?
It's been five, four days and you're still in the cafe, still talking, like little whispering.
But that's reality.
Alright, so we've got another...
Oh, here? Okay. Got one for us.
So this is from DJ Kanako.
DJ? Nice.
Yeah.
Chill.
DJ Kanako.
Yeah.
Alright.
So it was actually... I went to a club.
Oh, okay.
The music club.
Because you go there a lot, right?
Yeah, often.
Like every night.
Shibuya, Kibougi, all those.
Ginza, New York, Boston.
Global, huh?
Yeah.
Mr. Worldwide.
So, one club at Azabu-Juban.
Okay, Azabu-Juban. Wow. Fancy, huh?
The DJ Kanako was on fire.
Oh, she was DJing?
She was on fire.
Jeez.
And she...
She recognized you, maybe.
And she rapped with a microphone.
Nice.
Felt the vibes like that.
That's what she told me.
Okay.
Sorry, I can't not do rap, so I just read it.
Oh, she was rapping these words?
Yeah, like that.
Nice.
Okay, okay, okay.
That's okay.
So, thank you for telling me about beauty the other day.
Anytime.
I was looking forward to what you would introduce me to.
It's me, DJ Kanako.
Yeah.
[imitates DJ Kanako]
[imitates DJ Kanako]
Yeah.
[laughs]
[speaking Japanese]
Okay.
[speaking Japanese]
Nice.
[speaking Japanese]
Oh, thank you.
[speaking Japanese]
Thank you.
[speaking Japanese]
What does "goji ai" mean?
What?
What does "goji ai" mean?
"Goji ai"?
Yeah.
Love yourself?
Yes.
Take care of yourself.
Ah, take care.
That's a good choice.
Okay.
Got it, got it, got it.
I'm DJ Kanako.
Yes.
All right.
So, do you have any Shifuku no topic?
I have, yeah, I think I do.
When I, at night...
At night, okay.
At like 9 or 10 o'clock at night.
03:00
Okay.
And I'm done with all my work, and I have time to watch a movie.
Oh, a movie.
Yeah, I get on Netflix and watch a movie.
I love that.
I get popcorn.
I get a horoyoi.
Horoyoi?
Yeah.
Kanjuhai, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Kanjuhai, yeah.
And I love that time.
Oh, great.
Yeah, I watch maybe a Pixar movie, maybe an action movie.
I love it.
Wow.
I absolutely love it.
And also, when I eat pizza, that's great.
I'm living alone right now, so I get the whole pizza to myself, which is awesome.
Isn't that too much for you?
No, no, no.
For one person?
No, it's not too much.
No, it's not too much for me.
I know it's a lot for the majority of people, but for me, when it comes to pizza, I eat
a fuckload.
Okay.
And I don't care if I eat too much.
Right, right.
Okay.
So that's a great...
So another thing is when it's really sunny outside, I go for a walk.
That feels good with the music in my ear.
What do you listen to?
I listen to not much of anything.
Just...
I go on Spotify and just go like Osanpo playlist or like Sunny playlist or like Beach playlist.
It feels good.
Okay.
So it's like random.
I don't really have a particular song that I go to, but yeah.
Those are kind of my "shifuku no jikan" I think.
So eating pizza and watching movie at the same time would be perfect.
That would be amazing.
Yeah.
That would be.
Yeah, definitely.
Wow.
That's quite American and quite like you.
Uh huh.
It is.
It is, isn't it?
I feel like my alone time is really...
I think I love my alone time, my solo time.
Yeah.
I think I enjoy them.
A lot.
Yeah.
What do you do usually when you're alone?
Yeah, like watch movies, just relax on my couch, which is like I really need...
I can't be with another person for a very long time.
I feel like I need that personal time.
I really understand that.
Right.
I need time to recover from social life, I guess.
So I do enjoy my time alone.
Yeah.
And I'm planning to go on like a solo trip when the whole COVID thing is gone.
Wow.
You mean camping?
Like just go to Korea or something.
Oh, okay.
Go to like Hokkaido or something.
Because I've actually never done a solo trip ever in my life.
06:00
Never, never done that before.
Didn't have the financial power to do so.
So I maybe take some time to do that.
I mean, I plan to do that.
That would be great.
That would be.
How about you, man?
Oh, my uh...
Shifu-kun's time?
Yeah.
Oh.
In the morning, I finish my breakfast and take my shower, as usual.
And I make coffee.
Okay.
And sitting in my chair.
I read.
Ah, you love reading.
That's it, yeah.
Uh-huh.
That's my Shifu-kun's time.
Is it so you usually read in the morning?
I mean, morning, yeah.
Morning, pretty much every whole day, actually.
Okay.
If I can.
So it doesn't matter if it's the morning or not.
Right.
I read in the evening, night.
But, you know, the morning is the best time to read.
Because with the light.
The morning light?
Morning light coming through my window.
Okay.
You know, the window.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And, you know, the air is a little fresh.
Uh-huh.
Uh-huh.
And my brain is getting, you know, waking up.
Okay.
And having coffee.
And that's, that feels great.
That's nice.
Yeah.
That's really nice.
And also, like having conversation with friends.
But not many friends.
Like one-on-one or like three?
Yeah.
Maximum three.
Maximum three.
I prefer one-on-one.
Okay.
So that we can really talk to each other.
Yeah.
That's what I like.
And I have two most precious time.
Yeah.
One is, you know, I have plants in my room.
Okay.
You do have plants.
I love.
You have several plants.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I do Miziari every morning and every night.
Uh-huh.
And sometimes evening.
Okay.
That's what I love.
That's a lot.
Okay.
That's my...
You love to water your plants.
Right.
Like as...
It was on YouTube or live streaming.
But you mentioned that like destroying thing, destroying TV.
Yes.
Destroying place.
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
Is, you know...
Distressfully.
Yeah, yeah, right.
But for me, like watering plants makes me stress free.
Like makes me calm and feel like...
You're feeling...
You're letting that stress...
Yeah.
Like I feel that, you know, that basement, that...
09:08
You know, I feel that stress free.
Really?
Yeah.
Oh, that's interesting.
Like I do watering like this and like this.
Feel like stress is getting away.
Because you feel like you're cherishing these little kids.
Maybe.
You're feeding little kids.
Maybe.
Maybe?
Maybe.
Do you get the same feeling when you give food to Hato?
Yeah, might be the same.
Maybe, maybe.
But I feel the usualness.
The usualness.
From that routine.
Like makes me like...
Makes me feel like I do...
Okay, I'm like on the right track.
I mean...
Okay.
That's my rhythm.
So maybe the act of watering plants ensures you that you have kokoro no yoyuu.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Exactly.
Because if you don't have kokoro no yoyuu, you wouldn't be watering plants, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So that activity makes me feel like I am living happily.
Right, right, right.
This is my life.
That's nice.
What was the other one?
The other one is taking a bath.
Bath.
Shower.
Taking a shower?
Bath.
Oh, a tub.
Like you actually fill it up with water.
Oh.
I actually get in the bathtub once in two days.
Oh, that's a lot.
Recently I started doing this and I put a little new yookuzai, a little shirokunigoru.
Like Shirahane Onsen or Hakone kind of things.
And I read.
Wow.
You love reading.
That's my shifukunato.
You have a very relaxed life, I feel like.
That's amazing.
It won't take so much time actually, just one hour at the longest.
So when you start reading, it's about an hour?
How long do you usually read?
In the bathtub?
Or in the morning?
Like an hour or so?
Yeah, hour or so.
30 minutes seems a little bit too short.
Right.
I feel like.
Maybe two hours.
Two hours maybe?
I know you don't like reading.
But it's quite fun to me.
We can imagine anything we want.
So how about consuming them in video formats?
I love movies too.
So I love movies.
12:01
But reading is more limitless.
We can create all the characters and voice and movies and face and everything.
It's like you're reading with imagination.
So I can go to a different world.
It's kind of fun to me.
A world that I would never probably understand.
You will.
I've actually tried reading books.
But that's really sad.
It is sad.
It's really nice.
I've bought Hankyu desha.
I think I've told you this before.
I wanted a new hobby.
Maybe books could be it.
Maybe I could start loving books.
So I bought them.
And it ended quickly.
Yeah.
It really ended quickly.
It did.
It really did.
And there were times I wanted to do comics.
I bought one piece.
And it ended even more quicker.
I was like, this is so interesting.
I was like, this is so inefficient.
Yeah.
There were times I tried to start reading digital books.
Digital books?
Yeah, with my iPad.
Yeah.
I downloaded it.
I didn't even open the file.
Wow.
So I don't think I'm ever going to have a good relationship with words.
Text.
Text formats.
Never.
That's why I don't tweet so much.
I actually don't tweet so much.
Even in the digital world.
The world that I live in.
I'm a very digital kind of person.
I put out TikToks and YouTube.
And Twitter is a massively text-based platform.
Whenever I tweet, it takes an unbelievably long time to write them down.
It's limited.
The characters are limited.
So you can't blabber off.
100 or...
Exactly.
So you have to make it clean and be straightforward about it.
I think it takes skills for me to write them in a very clear and to the point and very appealing word.
That's hard for me.
It's difficult for me.
That's why I don't really tweet much.
I'm having difficulties with the Japanese language.
That's why.
So you prefer the video format?
I do.
The visual-based format is so much easier for me.
You're really good at it, by the way.
Thank you.
Well, you are too.
15:00
I think I'm good at texting.
Yeah, you are good at texting.
You're good at human interactions.
That's what I feel like you're good at.
Wow.
Okay.
There you go.
Okay.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Bye-bye.
