00:00
Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Okay!
We are- we have recorded our opening, the video versions of my voice. It will be on Instagram.
So, hey guys.
Alright.
Alright. So, uh, I want to talk- did you- can I- did you- is that- is that like properly recorded?
Your video?
It is!
It is the first time we've actually tried to record a video with your phone.
Look at this.
I was a little curious if it actually-
Take a look at this.
Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
Yeah, that's- yeah, not bad. Not bad.
Not bad, huh?
Yeah, not bad.
It's good, right? It's great.
Okay.
Okay, so, uh-
What was that?
I want to talk about your new city that you moved in. So, it's been what, like two months? Three?
Like two months.
Two months.
One-
Right? December?
Yeah.
Or no? September?
It was November.
November.
Like, the end of October.
So, it's like one and a half.
One and a half, yeah.
Gotcha.
So, I know you love adventuring around cities.
I do. I do.
Right?
Have you found anything interesting?
I found, uh, you know, the station is huge.
It is huge.
So, there's so many things that I haven't, like, visited still.
Yeah.
But, you know, we've got a three Starbucks.
Yes.
Two McDonald's.
Two McDonald's?
Yeah.
You got two McDonald's?
We do.
It's huge!
That's too much, you know?
That is too much.
I don't need two McDonald's at the same time.
And we've got so many restaurants, so many izakayas, so many, like, things.
But yesterday, last night, I found a little cafe.
Okay.
Like, I can go by walk.
It took me, like, five minutes from here.
Okay.
A little cafe.
And that was cute.
That was cute?
Yeah.
It looks like a nice cafe, but I haven't entered it yet.
So, I want to try one.
Okay, so is that, like, a little bit far from the station?
Not from station.
Like, five minutes from station.
Five minutes from here.
Five minutes from here.
So, like, it wasn't crowded?
No.
No.
Okay, because, like, many of the eat-in places around the station is very crowded.
Not like the huge, like, crowded place.
It was a small coffee shop.
The one you like.
Yes.
Right?
Yes.
Yes.
And also, bakery, little.
Oh, bakery.
That's nice.
Yeah.
Bakery and little cake shop.
Cake shop?
Like, patisserie.
Yeah.
Yeah.
03:00
I like this kind of small, little, "kosin de yatteru" kind of little restaurant.
Yeah, that's nice, right?
It's nice.
Yeah.
So, like, do you have plans to go any of the stores around in this town in the future?
Yeah.
You are?
Yeah.
Of course.
I sometimes go to the restaurants to have dinner, lunch with friends.
Yeah.
What is the number one place you recommend?
Ah, kushi-yaki restaurant.
Isakaya?
Yeah, it's an izakaya.
But, you know, kind of little "koukyuu" like a little bit, but little bit for me.
How much would a dinner be?
Dinner, if you eat and drink a little bit, then, like, do you drink?
Yeah, I drink like three or four.
Okay, then like 4,000 yen.
Okay, not bad.
Not that really expensive, but, you know, it is expensive for me.
I was expecting like 6,000 or like 7,000 maybe.
Okay, but, but, expensive.
Yeah, it's, you know, kushi-yaki is really good and drinks are so nice and it was a little counter.
Yeah, gotcha.
Made of little wood.
So, it wasn't like the "esase!"
It wasn't like the "genki genki" kind of izakaya.
It was more like "esase!"
Yeah, yeah, it is.
It wasn't like "awo, erudite, saite, nana, it'suka!"
Not like that.
The "taishuu izakaya" wasn't like that.
I like "taishuu izakaya" too, but that place isn't like that.
"Irasshaimase."
And I have a little "taisho" inside the counter.
Very angry face. Angry looking guy.
Not that angry.
Very angry looking guy.
Do you have image?
Yeah, Taishuu is always like, has a tough face on.
Yeah, yeah.
Like he doesn't want to be spoken to.
He hates everybody.
Yeah.
The image of Taishuu, right?
He only loves what he does.
Right, right, right.
Kushi, himself.
If anyone says something about his dish, it'd be like, "the fuck out of here, man."
Yeah.
Like, image of Taishuu.
There's a little bit of that.
How many seats are there?
Like, one, two, three, four, five, six.
Like, twelve seats.
Twelve seats?
Like, beside the counter table.
And it has a little table, like usual table.
One, two, three.
Three inside, and one, two, three, four, five, like four outside.
Like a kind of terrace seat.
Oh.
Yeah.
06:00
Nice, nice, nice.
I think that's going to be really nice when you go with your guy or friend if you have.
It's a little bit like close friend.
Go with close friend and have, you know, a little bit deep conversation.
I like that.
It's a little quiet.
Yeah, a little quiet.
A little "otsutsuiteru."
That's nice.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, the city is a little "otsutsuiteru."
I found the city is a little not really crowded with so many like "oparai," "wakamono."
How about the other side of the station?
I've never...
Oh, that other side?
Right, the other side of the station.
It has city hall, library, and it's "jutakugai."
Oh, so like I didn't have...
So you would say that this side of the station is more like "goraku."
Yeah, it's more like a restaurant.
More restaurants, bars, and kind of...
I didn't really have the image of like, oh, there's lots and lots of izakayas.
Yeah.
Really?
Yeah.
Right, right, right.
Like when you come from the station, you will see only restaurants, some shops.
But if you go like other side that way, you will find little izakaya street.
Oh, if you turn left.
Left, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You go...
Like that came from the station.
Right, you go out of the "kaisatsu," right?
And there's the your side of the house and the not your side of the house, right?
Oh, no, no, no.
Then you go to the right side, my side.
Your side, gotcha.
And just go straight.
There's McDonald's, there's Ito-Yokado.
There's Kentucky Fried Chicken.
You got that, right?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
And go straight, go straight.
And you will turn right to come to my place, right?
Yes.
But you don't turn right and just keep going.
Then you will find a little izakaya.
Oh, okay.
It's nice.
Okay, that's nice.
So there isn't...
It's quieter.
Yeah.
Relatively quieter.
Yeah.
Aren't there colleges or like...
Like...
I don't know.
My place has colleges.
Yeah.
I really want to go to your place.
Oh, yeah, please do.
Please come.
Like it's...
Lots of college students and it's loud as fuck.
Yeah.
So like...
How do you find that?
It's not good?
No.
Like feel happy a little bit?
No, no, not much.
Okay.
But it's a little bit scary.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
The drunk college people.
Wow.
There was...
I was on my bicycle, right?
Just chilling in the street.
09:02
Chilling on your bicycle.
Right.
I was just like adventuring, right?
Okay.
Like a group of yoparai college students.
Probably like packs of like what?
20 people.
Packs of...
Yeah.
Standing in front of Lawson Green Street.
20 people, man, in front of Lawson.
Wow.
Some of them are like on the streets.
Wow.
Because 20 doesn't fit on the what?
Crosswalk?
Not crosswalk, but the hodokyo, right?
Yeah.
So like I was disgusted.
Wow.
Absolutely disgusted.
You hate it.
Go home, everyone.
Yeah.
I know you don't like these kind of situations.
Yeah, I hate that.
People.
There's two things that I hated at that scene.
One is the yoparai, the dying exchange, right?
Yeah.
The other was like the mu no jikan, right?
I hate the mu no jikan.
Mu no jikan.
After the nomikai.
I think I've said this in the podcast before.
Yeah.
Like having no purpose.
Right.
But being there.
Yeah.
When you're done with the nomikai, you go outside and everyone was like, "Oh, what do I do next?"
Yeah.
Get your ass back home, man.
Yeah.
Standing in the streets.
Yeah.
Get your ass back home.
Yeah.
What the fuck are you doing?
Go home.
Yeah, that's fine.
Okay.
You were about to say something.
Oh, what?
You were about to say something.
I think I interrupted you.
Oh, I really?
Yeah.
I don't remember.
You lost it?
No, I don't.
Nothing even.
Okay, gotcha.
What was that?
Oh, yeah.
Okay, so exciting city.
That's about 10 minutes.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Let's talk about your city next time.
Okay, let's do it.
Let's do it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
All right.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Bye-bye.
