Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
This one for today.
This is from サンジの母さん.
Great episode, by the way.
Okay.
She's got a 小学2年生 boy.
Oh, we were talking about those hands before.
Yeah, let's hear it.
You said that's too small for that body.
Right, they don't need it.
If they were to fully utilize their hands, it would have to be longer.
It would absolutely have to be longer.
They can't use, if they're that short, they can't be used for anything.
Yeah, that's true.
So cute.
That was our question.

We humans, we humans have parts of the body that we never use too, right?
What do you mean?
For example, like...
We never use Mimitabu?
We don't need it.
I don't need it.
I think we have a lot of those things.
Yeah,
True.
Kidneys, right?
We only need one kidney, right?
Yeah, I mean...
Right?
Yeah.
What the fuck is there a second kidney if we only need one?
Yeah.
True.
Because maybe they're very important, that's why we need a spare.
Shouldn't we have two hearts then?
That's true.
Isn't heart more important, right?
Yeah, that's true.
We need two hearts.
We should have two hearts then.
Yeah, that's better.
One on the top and one on the bottom, right?
Because, you know, if something happens to the top half, we can just save ourselves with the other half, right?
Yeah, that's right.
Yeah, because the cows, they have four stomachs, right?
The cows have four stomachs?
Yeah.
Oh, shit.
Yeah.
That's a lot of stomach.
For what?
For digesting.
What do they eat?
What are they eating?
The grasses.
Grasses?
Yeah.
That's it?
That's it.
They need four stomachs for grasses.
Yeah.
I could probably digest a grass with my own stomach probably.
Really?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
It's true.
Well, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, but if we had two hearts or even three or four hearts.
Yeah.
It'd be so much better than having two kidneys, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or like, why do we have two holes on our nose?
06:00
Nose.
We only need one.
Like one big hole like that?
Yeah.
That's all we need.
Why would you need two?
Yeah.
It's weird, but all animals have two holes.
If you think about it.
That's right.
There must be some sort of reason, like a logical reason.
Yeah.
Maybe if you have like one hole, then if something like, you can just breathe in.
Well, that's true.
That's why you have like two.
That's true.
That's true.
Then they should be like this.
Like two very different directions, right?
Yeah.
Should be very far apart.
That's true.
That's true.
Because like this.
It's too close.
Like this.
Yeah.
Way too close.
Yeah.
To have two clocked up.
Yeah, yeah.
That's true.
That's true.
Very not logical.
Right.
Yeah.
Or like if you have two mouses.
Yeah.
You can breathe like this.
Yeah.
That's true.
That's true.
And then one eye on the back of your head.
So much safer.
Yeah.
Right?
We bump into shit so many times because we didn't have eyes at the back of our head.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Like kotsujiko.
Right.
Everything.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It would be so much better.
Now you can have like 360 image.
I know.
Visual.
I know.
I know.
True.
So much better.
True.
So much better.
Yeah.
That's true.
Many things though.
Many mystery.
Yeah.
Yeah.
That we don't need.
Like eye.
What do you call this?
Eye.
Eyebrow.
Eye.
Eye.
Eyebrow.
Yeah.
Eyebrows.
We don't need eyebrows.
We don't need it.
No.
We don't need them anymore.
Right?
Yeah.
We don't need hair.
Some people are bald.
Yeah.
True.
Yeah.
They're fine.
They're bald.
Yeah.
So a lot of shit we don't need.
Right?
Yeah.
Maybe like hundreds, I mean, many, many years ago, we had hairs.
Yeah.
Hairs all around our body so that we can protect the body temperature from maybe insects or something.
Ah, yeah.
But more and more, like they don't need them anymore and like getting less and less.
Yeah.
So maybe like in the future, everybody has nothing.
No hair.
No hair.
No hair on the skin.
It's so possible.
It's so possible.
But, you know, one thing that I thought was I've shaved my legs several times in my life.
I do that regularly.
Okay.
And so the day I shave, you get to feel the huge difference, right?
So the day before you had hair.
Yeah.
And then the day after, you're like hairless.
Yeah.
Right?
So when the wind hits your legs, it's not detectable when you don't have hair.
09:01
It's not detectable?
It is not detectable.
Are you sure?
I am sure.
Like when I, for example, like you got a senpuki or something where like if somebody blows
to your...
Uh-uh.
You will not notice the wind.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Like it is surprising how much we rely on hair senses to detect wind.
Oh, I didn't know that.
Yeah.
So like a blow dryer, right?
Yeah.
I stick it directly to my shin.
Yeah.
You feel nothing?
I feel like I have a cloth right on top of me.
Wow.
Yeah.
It is a very strange feeling.
That's...
But you feel the heat, right?
Yeah, I feel heat.
But not the actual wind.
Like, yeah, it was all from the hair that was moving.
Yeah.
So when you cut it off, it is not detectable anymore.
Wow.
That's mystery.
Like I have never experienced that before.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
So it has function.
Yeah, it does have function.
It works.
Yes.
Yes.
Wow.
Yeah.
I feel like you will have a different sense of the world if you are hairless completely.
Yeah.
Maybe you feel the temperature differently.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
Absolutely.
Definitely maybe wind, definitely different.
Well, surprising.
That's...
Very surprising.
That's interesting.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
All right.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
