Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
Gotta do a shout out on this one.
On Amazon Music, we are doing a show called
Kevin's English Room Podcast Plus.
It is a five-minute spinoff version
of this show where we answer English questions
we get from our listeners.
Some of the questions are
that makes sense
or that
make sense.
Sometimes you're saying it with the S,
sometimes without the S,
and it feels grammatically incorrect.
Sometimes, what is the right version?
That's a really good question.
Yes, it was.
Or like all kinds of 何々.
To the Japanese, it sounds like
すべての種類, but it's actually not.
たくさんの種類 is what it actually means.
What the hell is going on there?
Great question.
You can listen to it on Amazon Music.
It is free. All you have to do is
download Amazon Music and
log in with your free account
and start playing our show,
Kevin's English Room Podcast Plus.
That's it.
That's all you need to enjoy the show.
Take a listen, guys.
Thank you.
Great questions
coming in.
I know. It's unbelievable
how great these questions are.
This one
for today.
This is from
That's a little...
You get what there, but would you bring
an umbrella just for that
30 second walk
from your car to the
entrance of the Walmart?
No, you would not.
People just don't do it.
Just don't wear it.
If you drive
a car
from the garage
to the
building or to the
shopping center
you don't get wet.
Yeah.
It's gonna get dry anyways.
True.
You don't walk outside?
Nobody walks outside.
03:00
Nobody.
That's dangerous.
That's dangerous.
Well, not dangerous
because it's wrong, Georgia.
But you get scared.
You get the look.
A man walking outside.
What is he doing?
That's so
different.
I see.
So there's not many
chance
to use an umbrella.
Yeah, right.
I see.
In France, we
have
umbrellas.
But I mean,
it exists as a thing
but they don't use it.
People walk outside
in France.
Even in the countryside, they just walk.
They love walking.
But one,
they use
kappa, like raincoats.
I think
that's the majority
who wear raincoats.
It's much more common.
That's one.
Or
they just get wet.
They just
get wet.
Just walk.
That's the two styles.
And
if it's just
raining a little bit,
then they don't wear
those raincoats.
Nobody wears anything.
The amount of, the limit of
something
you have to prepare is different
in Japan and France.
They don't care about
a small amount of rain.
If it's heavy rains, then
they wear raincoats.
Yeah.
But not many people will do the umbrella thing.
No.
How about higasa? Do people wear higasas?
I've heard of it.
But
I was in the countryside,
so I didn't see anybody
using an umbrella. But if you go to
a city, like
Paris,
then some of the
ladies are using
those higasas sometimes.
But it's
rare.
Same as America. I've never seen anyone have a
higasa.
Never.
But they wear sunglasses.
Yeah, same with America.
A lot of people wear sunglasses.
And they put sunscreens
on.
Well, that's different. In America, we don't use sunscreens
so much.
Only when you go to the beaches
or when you're like, fully, let's go outside
and play.
Yeah, well, same in France.
If it's just
go to school, just go
daily things, they don't wear anything.
06:00
But if they go outside,
one sunscreen or sun oil
if they go to the beaches.
Because they want
to get tanned.
Right.
You know, in Japan,
I feel like
over this past year,
that guys started
buying
higasa.
Higasa.
Before that,
I hardly ever saw any men
use a higasa.
But from this year,
people wear it now. People have it now.
Did you see?
Yeah, like over
10 or 20
maybe guys
do a higasa.
And that was unseen
before that season.
So it's interesting how
fast shit changes.
They're having like
men's higasa?
Yes, we have men's higasa now.
If you go to loft or
Tokyo Hands.
Yes, we have men's version.
Not like a...
Not like the pretty,
elegant, fancy,
like the holes at the tip of the
umbrella.
Yeah.
Not those.
More like bulkier ones, I guess.
Yeah.
Changing.
I've actually even thought of buying one.
I did. Because it was so hot.
Yeah.
I just used a normal umbrella.
For the higasa?
This year, I did.
It works.
Not as good as
the actual higasa, probably.
But still, you can make shades.
It's better than not having one at all.
It was better.
Yeah.
Can we use
higasa for rains?
We can, right?
Yeah, there are
some sort of higasas that can be used
in a rain, too.
That would make it so much better.
Yeah, if you have that one.
You can use it at any time.
Most of the very, very, very
sunny seasons, especially
this year, it would start
raining immediately.
During dawn.
Like a storm.
Yeah, like a scar or something.
You'd have to bring two, then.
Hopefully, there's going to be a product
where it does both.
Yeah, if you have that one,
you just use it all the time.
Avoiding the sun
or the rain.
That's clever.
Yeah, true.
Alright, thanks for listening, guys.
Bye.
