Welcome to Kevin's English from podcast.
Oh, you did that?
I sounded like an idiot.
I mean...
Sounded a little stupid, right?
A little bit though.
Yeah, like a dummy, you know?
Yeah, it was good, you know?
Thank you.
Have a little trust on it.
Right.
Actually, forget about that.
Oh, okay.
I remember that.
Yeah, right.
That spice.
So, nice to meet you.
I'm May, and I'm a member of the KER fan club.
Hi, thank you.
I have a little kid, and I can't sleep well.
I have a bad fever, but I listen to your podcast on my earphones, and I can't sleep for 3 minutes.
I think that's still in the Japanese section where you read the DMs.
Yeah, that's Japanese.
Yeah, 3 minutes or so in that, I think.
But she's listening to, you know, and focusing on...
Thank you.
We sang that.
Yeah, thank you.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Okay, thank you.
So, it's already like 2 minutes and a half, so...
Oh, right.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, I'm going to go ahead and start reading the DMs.
Yeah.
I'm going to go ahead and start reading the DMs.
Yeah.
So, I'm going to go ahead and start reading the DMs.
So, it's already like 2 minutes and a half, so...
Oh, right.
I'm not sure.
Yeah, she's probably not listening to the English.
It's probably the Japanese section that she's sleeping.
Yeah.
It's okay.
It's okay.
It's okay.
Okay.
But, you know, I actually understand what she means by like if you focus.
Oh.
You know, there's a YouTube video where...
So, the video is just a guy or a woman just continuously saying objects like tomatoes,
bicycles, bottle, cap, window, door, and you know what you do with that video?
03:10
Yeah.
You play that and you go to sleep.
Yeah.
And so, what your mind does is it focuses on the whatever object it is, right?
Okay.
Okay.
You go to sleep really fast.
Really?
Yeah, because your brain is so focused.
See, the reason why, what some people say, the human, they can't get to sleep is because
their mind is so awake and it's so all over the place.
It stimulates their body and like it just doesn't allow them to sleep.
Yeah.
But when you focus on a single thing, the brain can easily go into rest mode and fall
asleep.
Okay.
So, my friend said that that video really, you know, puts them to sleep really fast.
Wow.
Yeah, I'm thinking about trying it, but I still haven't got it.
Yeah, I should try it.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, maybe this is something close to that video.
It could be.
It could be.
Yeah.
Wow.
So, right, from in a sense that you focus on one thing.
Yeah.
Great.
Headphones.
Yeah.
Microphones.
Right.
Videos.
Circulators.
Backpacks.
Buongiorno Tutti.
Tea.
What was that?
I was trying to say something.
I was trying to say something, but you go.
You go.

That moment when you hit your pinky on the leg of the death.
Yeah.
I think now everybody falls asleep.
Yeah.
I think we did a good job.
I think we did good work right here today.
Good work.
Great.
Yeah.
We're going to have to go to bed.
Yeah.
Good work.
Great.
So.
What was the question?
Yeah.
So the question was...
So the question was...
06:13
Okay.
Well, quick one.
For me, I think I've always loved how the Japanese people spoke and their style and the vibes of their conversation.
I loved it.
So it was very easy for me to adapt and I got used to it so fast and I'm really comfortable with it now.
But I still feel like when I speak in English, I feel like the English vibes are back and I feel like that's different from when I speak in Japanese.
Yeah.
So.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
That's same to me.
It's just I kind of like those, you know, open and free vibe.
That's all.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So that's, you know, the reason why I...
It was really kind of to me easy to adapt those, you know, culture.
For example, like in France or like those.
Do you feel like you're...
I don't think so.
Do people in France talk differently?
The style of their conversations, like, are they faster?
Are they like more aggressive?
They love discussions.
They are more like...
Arguments and everything.
Yeah.
I'm kind of not afraid of having different opinions.
So always having discussions about, you know, controversial topics, for example, like politics, sometimes religions.
Sports.
Yeah.
Sports.
Yeah.
Those things.
So many things like that.
Even like when I went to France, I was high school student, but we talked about politics all the time.
You know, lunchtime, we're having lunch together and, "Hey, what about the next president?"
Election.
Elections.
And, "Yeah, he's not..."
Oh.
And, you know, of course there would be sometimes, you know, battle between one opinion versus one opinion.
They don't afraid of those.
And it's not about...
It's different from friends or not.
It's just they're friends still.
Oh, right.
Yeah.
So that's something I feel a little different as a culture.
I see.
I see.
Another thing that she said about like...
Wait, was it her?
I forgot.
But like...
Yeah.
She said...
"Are all foreigners positive?"
Yeah.
Oh, that's what I guess.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Because I don't think so.
I know a lot of pessimistic Americans back in Rome, Georgia.
09:04
Yeah.
More pessimistic than optimistic.
Oh, really?
Yeah, I would say.
Okay.
Yeah.
Oh.
Maybe only the optimistic people is coming to Japan, maybe?
Maybe.
Maybe?
Yeah.
True?
Yeah, maybe.
Yeah.
And in addition...
You know, my "kaigai seikatsu" isn't that long.
I just went to France for one year.
And I'm living in Japan other than that.
So I don't think I'm not...
I think I'm Japanese.
Yeah.
And I'm proud of that.
Yeah, I get it.
I get it.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Maybe everybody's sleeping now.
Oh, right.
Sadly.
Nobody listens to this episode.
Oh, that's okay.
That's okay.
You want to get the iPhone alarm and then put it on the microphone.
Because everyone's mistaken.
Oh, wait.
It's the alarm.
So annoying.
Yeah, okay.
Is there a cliche noise, like a sound for Android alarm?
Because for iPhone we have this...
Everyone has that.
Okay, sorry.
Not for Androids?
Not a typical one?
No.
No?
Okay.
Do you use your alarm when you wake...
On your phone when you wake up?
I do.
Oh, okay.
Okay, got it.
But I said I can play those, but it's a song.
Oh.
I can set Spotify or like Amazon Music.
Interesting.
Yeah.
So it's a...
So a song comes on.
Yeah, so it's Dirty Loops right now.
Okay, okay.
Or come, you know.
Oh, okay.
I know Dirty Loops, by the way.
Yeah.
Oh, really?
I've seen one video.
I think that's the same that...
It's the same song you sang?
Yeah.
Dirty Loops of...
It's different instruments, right?
Mm-hmm.
