Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast!
It's a peaceful day today.
Oh yeah.
A little cloudy though.
Well, yeah.
Yeah.
But the studio seems kind of peaceful, I thought.
Really calm.
Yeah, I didn't really...
Not much people.
Yeah.
Okay, so...
Yesterday, I...
No, two days ago, I...
I went to the wedding...
Wedding...
...party?
Yeah, ceremony?
Yeah, ceremony of my...
One of my friends of high school.
Oh, okay.
Soccer club.
Oh, that's cool.
I didn't...
I wasn't invited.
Oh.
Wedding itself.
Whoa, okay.
I wasn't invited.
That's... okay.
And...
Where are we going here?
I'm scared.
You know, there's a main wedding party, you know?
Yeah.
The like, main, you know, wedding ceremony party.
The party?
The main one, you know?
Right, where they...
The hotel thing.
Yeah, where they...
Where they plead.
Yeah.
And they... when they...
Like, "I do..."
Yeah, that's the one.
Yeah.
I wasn't invited.
Anyways.
Which is normal.
Is it?
Which is... yeah, like...
A lot of people are not invited to that.
Well, true.
That's... well, it's kind of...
It's like a closed...
Closed...
Yeah.
...kind of ceremony, right?
Yeah.
But some of our friends were invited.
Oh, okay.
Somehow.
Okay, yeah.
And...
I got no comment.
Yep.
And then, you know, they have a nijikai kind of things.
Right, right.
I guess so.
Yeah, that's where everybody comes in, right?
Yeah, everybody comes in.
And...
But they, you know...
He had nijikai.
And after that, he also had the sanjikai, nijikai things.
And he was really busy.
Shindo was really busy.
Because he had to go and see so many different...
Aisatsu, right?
...sections, you know.
Right.
Oh, kaijutsu, kaijutsu, all that shit, right?
Yeah.
And after, you know, those main part,
my high school students were gathered
and did, you know, nijikai.
Yeah, sure.
You know, own nijikai, you know.
Yeah, yeah, on your own.
Yeah.
Right.
And, you know, there are so many own their own nijikais.
Okay, sure.
You know, so the mariage, those two guys,
two guys and guy and shindo and shinpu,
they had to go everywhere, everybody, you know.
Right.
So he was really busy.
To greet everybody.
Yeah, and I...
As I was invited to the main part,
I went... somehow, you know, there are soccer club lines.
Yeah.
And someone put the picture...
03:01
Okay.
...of the wedding.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
And then I noticed, "Oh, he got married."
Okay.
Oh, okay.
And I said, "Oh, omedeto."
And then someone replied back to me that,
"We have nijikai from now on.
If you have time, you can come."
And then I was really close to the place.
I was in Nochanomizu.
Oh, okay.
And the place was Tokyo Eki.
So it was, you know, kind of close.
And I had time, only like 30 minutes,
but I could join that and meet all the friends.
Okay.
Yeah.
That's all.
I don't know why I start to speak about this, but...
Oh, no.
But as shindo was really busy, so I couldn't meet with him.
Okay.
He was in a different party.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was everywhere.
So I just met with my old friends from high school.
And that's all.
That's it.
Yep.
That is the end of the story.
That's...
Yep.
That's all that happened.
I mean, like nothing happened.
We just gathered, had conversation.
Actually, it's like been 10 years.
That's a very long time.
Yeah.
Because after I graduated from high school...
That's true.
Yeah, like close, 8, 9 years.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
So it was really a good moment to me.
Did you guys do the nijikai at this one place
where everybody, the other people are there too?
Or like did you guys have your own restaurant?
Yeah, it was just simple izakaya.
Okay, got it.
For our 10.
Okay.
Yeah.
Got it, got it.
So just close conversation, closed conversation.
Okay.
What they do.
Yeah.
How was everybody?
They were really fine.
Oh yeah?
Didn't change at all.
Oh, okay.
Are they all in Tokyo or most of it?
Tokyo, Osamu Chiba, Kanagawa, but mainly those areas.
The Kanto areas.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And some of them didn't know about, you know...
You doing social media.
Me doing these kind of things.
Okay.
And so surprised.
Okay.
And they subscribed to our channel.
That's cool.
True.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
That's all.
Well, I mean congratulations to your friend.
Yeah.
Oh yeah, thank you.
Right, which you were not invited to.
Oh.
So, you know, I thought he was in the party, the nijikai.
So, I bought some, you know, casual present.
Oh, okay, got it.
You know.
You can give it to him.
He's a little bear.
And yeah, that's all actually.
I mean, that's cool.
Yeah.
No funny moment.
No, that's cool.
Not a funny story, but yeah.
06:01
I don't know why I started this, but yeah.
I like that.
I mean, weddings, right?
Yeah.
We got...
It's the wedding season.
Yep.
You see?
It's the wedding season.
Well...
Yeah, but think about the ages.
Yeah, right.
Everybody, right?
It's thinking about getting married and...
True.
Yeah.
Actually, I haven't been to one wedding so far.
Not one.
Oh.
Yeah.
Well, me neither.
Me either.
Me neither.
Neither?
Yeah.
Okay.
Maybe I'm not invited to all the weddings, too.
Yeah.
But I think that our circle has a very late...
That's right.
Relatively late marriage rush, you know.
I don't think we've come to a marriage rush yet.
True.
Right?
Of our college community.
Yeah.
Several of them have decided to get married,
but like they haven't done the wedding yet, right?
True.
They're like, "Oh, COVID."
Right?
True.
"Oh, later."
True.
Right?
Yeah.
Do you have to give...
You know, um...
You know how you have to give money?
Okay, that was...
I shouldn't frame it like that, okay?
Like celebrate them with a gift.
Yeah.
Right?
From the heart.
From the heart.
That's shit.
Yeah.
That's something we call "goshugi."
Exactly.
"Goshugi." I forgot.
Yeah.
"Goshugi."
Right.
I feel like a lot of the shakaijin that are in the late 20s, right?
Or in the 30s are...
Like they have "kekonshikis" every weekend, right?
Yeah.
And like they have to give out their "oshugi."
Yeah.
It's kind of tough for them.
Yeah.
Right?
True.
There's a word called "goshugi bimbou."
Yeah.
Yeah.
If you have so many, you know, communities,
so many connections,
and you invite so many wedding parties,
and you have to, you know...
Right.
Yeah.
That's a little "taihen."
That's true.
If you have like four weddings in a month...
Exactly.
You like, mainly like "gomayan."
"Gomayan" for average.
Yeah.
That's "benjumayan."
That's the big expense.
09:00
Yeah.
Oh.
True.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But you know, after I graduated from university,
I guess maybe you were in the same situation,
but we were trying to, you know,
build something.
That was, you know, the main priority of our lives.
Like not playing, not like consuming things,
but you know, focused on the...
how to build your lives.
Yeah.
Especially like walkings.
You had your own business.
I decided to go accompany and, you know,
study music, playing some music.
So, you know, priority of meeting with my friends,
or like gathering together,
was kind of a little, you know, lower
than the moment when we were in the college student.
So, that's the reason why we are not invited
to those wedding parties.
Right.
They think that we are, you know,
kind of keeping distance from them.
Okay.
We'll just keep it like that.
Yeah.
Just to...
That's easier for us.
That's...
Yeah.
That's easier for us to...
That's the explanation.
Right.
We are still friends.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
We have lots of friends.
Yeah.
Yeah.
We have so many friends.
We have so many friends.
Yeah, we are really friendly guys
and got so many friends.
Yeah.
I, yeah, meet them every week.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I, you know, realized that gathering
is really good for your life.
Yeah.
So, you know, I kind of think that start,
I want to start meeting regularly
with those friends.
And that's really...
Yeah.
When I sometimes do like a get together,
it makes me really happy.
Yeah.
Like it makes me like,
"Oh, I should do this more often."
Yeah.
You know?
True.
Yeah.
But we tend to, you know, focus on jobs.
Right.
And while we, you know, try to pursue.
You're absolutely right.
Yeah.
But that's absolutely one of the biggest joy.
I know.
Connections with other people, right?
12:02
The kyou of joy.
Yeah.
You know?
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, all right.
I will invite you when I will be...
When you get married?
Yeah.
Thank you.
I will invite you too.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Thank you.
All right.
Thanks for listening guys.
Bye-bye.
