Welcome to Kevin's in this room podcast
Hello, hello

I'm always fuzzy on the last one. Yeah. Yeah, I know you sound it really cool. I did this time. I did I did
Just need to get the last what I should say
So this one is from Kimi Kimi-san
Mm-hmm. Kimi Kimi-san Kimi Kimi-san. Yes
It's KMI. KMI. Kimi Kimi. Okay
Kevin-san Yamachan-san konnichiwa. Konnichiwa. Kimi Kimi to moushumasu. Kimi Kimi-san.
I'm worried about the podcast but I'll send it to you. It's okay. I'm sorry if I got it wrong. It's okay.
Every morning I listen to your conversation while preparing lunches and work for the kids
Okay. I sometimes laugh out loud in your conversation and I sometimes poke my nose in
So I hear the kids saying "Kevin and Yamachan were saying weird things again"
I'll explain it to you but I hear "Hey, haha" and a dry laugh comes back so I'll do my best to translate it into a funny way.
I have two sons, middle school and elementary school. I read them to them every night when they go to bed.
Unfortunately I don't read them to my son anymore. Have you ever read your parents a book or a book before going to bed?
What stories do you remember from your parents?
In my family, my brother loved the Edogawa Ranpo series of the Shonen Tanteidan when he was in elementary school
and he would read it to his parents every night.
When I talked to my son about it, he said "Akadenwa sarugutsuwa"
Do you know those?
No.
It's the Akadenwa, you know. Sarugutsuwa is when crime happens and you're captured by the criminal.
Okay.
And then you'll be put some kind of towel into your mouth.
Oh, so you can't talk.
Oh, okay, okay.
Sarugutsuwa.
Oh, okay.
Kamasareru.
I was laughing and chatting with my brother while I was reading those words.
Yama-chan, please translate it for Kevin-san.
He already did.
03:00
My brother is still reading it, but his favorite is Shinsuke Yoshitake's "Arukashira Shoten".
He seems to like it a lot, so I read it dozens of times.
What are your favorite books and stories? If you'd like, please post them on the topic.
We look forward to hearing more fun stories from you two.
Thank you.
I don't remember being done a bedtime story.
Maybe my dad did it. My mother or my dad did it.
But I actually do not remember a moment of it.
Oh, does it exist in the United States?
Yeah, like bedtime stories. Yeah, it's a thing. It happens.
But I don't remember my family doing it.
Maybe they did it for me, but I don't remember though.
I do remember being scared sometimes.
What do you mean?
Being scared of ghosts.
Oh, they told the ghost stories?
No, no, no. Just some random shit.
When you're alone in your room and you're scared of ghosts,
I would go up to my parents' bedroom and be like, "Can I sleep with you guys?"
And I would sleep with them.
I remember that happening.
That's like the only memory I have with like bedtime and parent kind of like related topics.
Do you remember any bedtime stories? I do.
You do?
Because when I was... Me and my brother was little.
We were together when we slept.
Okay. When we slept.
You know, like one room with four stones and slept together.
Okay.
So my mother read us so many books.
There's so many books I remember.
So they're all different.
What do you mean all different?
So like each time...
So there wasn't like a... She didn't repeat any of the same stories.
It's a different one every time.
Yeah.
So sometimes there are like... Especially when I was really small,
there's a Okinogi no Ehon.
Okay.
It was Shobo Jidousha, Jiputa, all those, you know.
Okay.
Those are all favorite Ehons.
Okay.
So they... Then she repeatedly read those Ehons to me.
But after that, when I was like shougakusei, you know, we read Harry Potter or...
That's pretty difficult.
Yeah, those books.
So, you know, it's not something repeatedly.
Okay.
But it's just, okay, today let's read from here to here.
Like 20 pages.
Okay.
And then, okay, it's done for today and the rest is tomorrow.
I have this image of like bedtime stories as like you would fall asleep in the middle of the story.
06:00
So I've always been wondering like, do these kids ever get to the ending of...
Like, are they ever curious what the ending is?
Because they seem to fall asleep every time, you know, before they get to the end.
So your style was, okay, from here to here.
That's for today.
Yeah.
And you stay awake and you're excited during that time and then you go to sleep.
Yeah.
That's my case.
My case wasn't, you know, wasn't not... bedtime story wasn't for let us be in a sleep, but just read a story.
Oh, okay.
Just read a book.
It's like a family time.
Yeah.
Okay, got it.
But while my mother was reading a book, she always felt asleep.
Aww.
So she was like...
That's sweet.
She was carrying a book like this and sometimes...
Sleep!
And she's asleep.
And what?
Me and my brother was like, "Mom!
Hey, wake up!
What are you saying?"
"We're next!"
And we're like, "Where was I from?"
And we're like two pages before and...
Aww, that's so sweet.
Such a sweet memory.
It's funny, yeah.
I thought my mother took so much pose before the important phrase, you know?
But it was just truth was she was just fell asleep.
You thought it was a build up.
Yeah.
Aww.
That's sweet.
And I remember when my mother was really tired.
Yeah.
I mean, she completely fell asleep.
My little brother took a book and read it and sent it to me.
Aww.
That's so sweet.
He loves reading.
He loves reading.
Yeah, he loves reading.
Does he now read books too?
Yeah, and he works for the book company.
Wait, is he a Shakaijin now?
Yeah.
Oh my god.
What?
He is.
First year Shakaiji?
Yes, yes, yes.
Got it.
So, next April, he's gonna be a second year Shakaiji.
Yeah, yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
How is he?
He's fine.
He's good?
He looks fine.
Is he enjoying his work?
Yeah.
That's good, that's good.
And he goes to the gym like every day.
Is he muscular now?
Yeah.
Oh my god.
Like a pump the body builder?
Really?
Like a real guy.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah.
Because last time I saw him, he wasn't, I don't remember him being so muscular.
He's been skinny since he was little kid.
He's been skinny, but now he's kind of big.
09:00
Wow.
Yeah.
Wow.
Yeah.
So, he works at a book company.
Yeah.
So, he must love enjoying, he must enjoy reading books.
Yeah.
Does he read, so he reads more books than you do?
Yeah.
Like how much do you do now?
I don't know, but so many.
A lot.
Yeah.
Maybe like one per day kind of?
Oh yeah.
So, when he was a kid.
Wow.
Like junior high or elementary school, he read too many books.
Yeah.
So, my parents told that stop reading books.
Wow.
You're reading too much.
I remember that.
So, does he like two, three books a day?
Yeah, I guess so.
Like whole night, whole day.
Dang.
Yeah.
Wow.
He needs a Kindle.
Yeah.
Does he do it digitally?
He loves the physical one.
The physical paper books.
He must be filled with stacks of books in his room.
Yeah.
I remember that he was reading in like dark room, you know, because it was night.
Yeah.
But he loves, still he wants to read.
It's like video games, right?
Yeah, yeah.
The cliche video game for kids.
Yeah.
They do it too much, but for him it was books.
Yeah.
So, my parents told him that don't read in dark room.
Yeah, yeah.
That's bad for your eye.
If you want to read, you put your light on.
Uh-huh.
But it's midnight, so you should sleep now.
Wow.
Yeah.
What kind of books is he interested in?
I guess almost everything.
Everything?
Yeah.
From novels to like jiko keihatsu to...
Oh, basically novels.
Novels.
Yeah.
Okay.
Don't read those jiko keihatsu or, you know, how-to books that much.
Novels.
Novels.
Yeah.
Okay.
Like suiri shousetsu, like the message says.
Edogawa Ranpo?
Yeah.
Those Edogawa Ranpo series or those.
Wow.
Not mangas.
He had One Piece mangas.
Uh-huh.
But I'm not sure he's still collecting those.
Uh-huh.
I'm not sure.
Wow.
Yeah.
But he's fine.
He's doing fine.
Yeah.
Good to hear that.
Good to hear he's like he's doing...
Because, you know, first year shakaijin is always a huge, you know.
Of course he... I heard that he has some, you know, struggling struggles, of course, working
in this.
Of course, it's tough though.
Yeah.
But...
But still, still he's healthy.
Yeah.
That's good.
Yeah.
Good to hear.
Wow.
It's a huge surprise he's muscular.
Yeah.
All right.
Thanks for listening, guys.
Thank you.
Bye.
Thank you.
