今回取り上げるのは #ジャイアントピーチ です🍑

少年時代企画、第二弾！

『ナイトメアビフォアクリスマス』の影に隠れて興行的には振るわなかった本作ですが、改めて観てみると——ほっこりと温かい童話の映像化として、これはこれでかなり見応えがある。

どことなく愛らしいデフォルメの害虫たちと一緒に、大きな桃に乗ってニューヨークを目指す少年ジェームズ。子どもの頃は気にもしなかった理不尽な演出や不可解な設定が、大人の目で観るとやたらと引っかかってくるんですよね🤔

一体どんな意図が隠されているのか。そもそも童話って、子どものためのものなのか、大人のためのものなのか。まこなりに語ってみました。

A boy named James sets off across the ocean atop a giant peach, accompanied by a crew of charmingly deformed bugs. The absurd setups and baffling directorial choices that flew right over Mako's head as a kid? They snag on everything as an adult 🤔

What was the actual intent behind all of it? And when you really think about it — are fairy tales for children, or are they for grown-ups? Mako takes a swing at both questions.
