A former employee of Gunma Bank was arrested for allegedly defrauding people of cash under the guise of exchanging it for new banknotes.
On June 4, Saitama Prefectural Police arrested a former employee of the bank, Oki Akihiro (25), who lives in Kumagaya City, on suspicion of fraud. The suspect is that in September last year, he lied to a male company executive in Fukaya City, saying that he had a limit for exchanging it for new banknotes, and defrauded him of 500,000 yen.
The incident came to light when another customer consulted the bank, saying that Oki had asked him for help with the exchange.
Police believe that Oki has defrauded people of a total of approximately 55.35 million yen using the same method, and are continuing their investigation."
