A ridgepole-raising ceremony was held at Iidama Shrine in Tamamura Town to celebrate the construction of the outer hall surrounding the main shrine.
Approximately 40 people, including local residents and construction personnel, participated in the ceremony and prayed for the safety of the construction work.
Iidama Shrine is said to have been built in the 1460s, and has long been worshipped as the guardian deity of the region.
The current main shrine was built during the Edo period, and is being replaced to protect the aging outer hall.
The new outer hall is scheduled for completion in October.
