The number of victims of romance scams using social media is rapidly increasing.
According to the prefectural police, the number of victims of social media romance scams reported between January and June this year doubled from the same period last year, to 31 cases. The total amount of damages also reached approximately 317.6 million yen, an increase of over 100 million yen.
