“Notebook Power & Words That Stay with Us”

今回は、日本のポッドキャストイベントに参加🎙️
We talked about the podcast event in Japan.

イプセンさんはふだんノートを取らないタイプ。
Ipsen usually doesn’t take notes in class.
でも、大学の犯罪捜査（Criminal Investigation）の授業では “ノート持ち込み”でテストがありました。
So for his class, there was an open notebook exam.
彼はなんと2冊のノートをびっしり書いて、いい点数をとることができました！📚👏

ひらくのテキストブックも、書き込み式でたくさん書いて学んでいます✍️
The Hiraku textbook also encourages writing, so he's been using it to reflect and learn actively.

一方、タツさんはこれまでのHiraku Buddyとのノートを見返しながら、日本にいるBuddyたちにことばを届けています。
Tatsu looks back on his notes with past Hiraku Buddies and shares messages with current learners.

彼が紹介した言葉のひとつがこちら：

“Wake up determined, sleep satisfied.”
「決意をもって目覚め、満足して眠る」
この言葉は、「1日をしっかり生きよう」という前向きなメッセージ。
It’s a reminder to start each day with purpose and end it with a sense of fulfillment.

Little steps, taken every day, can make a big difference over time.

デンマーク出身のIpsenさんと日本人のTatsuが、

日本語と英語を混ぜながら文化や学びの楽しさについて語り合うポッドキャストです。

今回のエピソードでは、Ipsenさんがノートブックのお話をしてくれます。

Ipsenさんは少しオタクですっていう風に前回のポッドキャストで言ってるんですが、

Ipsenさんはスパイファミリーが大好きなんですね。

スパイファミリーのアーニャがとても可愛くて仕方がないと言ってました。

僕はヨルさんの方が可愛いかなと思うんですけど、まあ二人とも可愛いですよね。

そんなIpsenさんは大学でもスパイファミリーの影響かどうかは分からないんですが、

犯罪心理学を研究しているということで受けた授業がですね、

Criminal Investigationということで犯罪捜査という授業でノートを使ってですね、

殺人ということと、そして過失知識とか過失障害というようなことをですね、

テストで受けたという話をされています。

結構難しい英語が続きますが、最後の方ではまた日本語に戻って日本語のお話などをしています。

全体的にですね、楽しくお互いの文化や言葉を学び合えるという雰囲気をね、感じていただいて、

それぞれのレベルで楽しんでいただければと思います。

犯罪心理学の授業

Ipsenさん今回はですね、スペシャルな回になります。

科学系ポッドキャストの日。

英語でサイエンスしないと。

and they told me to listen to the one from my13th I think from 2024.

So I went and listened to that earlier today while I was doing Hiroku stuff.

It seems really nice. They were introducing Len, who was new at that time,

so it was just like a quick sort of introduction to who both the people were.

I thought half of it was going to be in Japanese, but that episode at least was like was all English.

So it was easy to follow along, it was pretty fun.

The concept is similar to us.

でも僕たちは日本語も勉強して、英語も勉強するので、たくさん日本語をしゃべりたいと思います。

アサミさんとレンさんの英語でサイエンスしないとに、ホストしてもらった会に参加します。

もちろん翻訳できないので、ツイートを翻訳できるだけでした。

なので、何のテーマか少し迷いました。

コンセプトは、あらゆるポッドキャストがそのテーマについて話すと参加できます。

今回はノートブックについて話すと、あらゆるポッドキャストがこのイベントに参加できます。

これはサイエンスのポッドキャストではありません。

私はこの時間点はとてもいいと思いました。

私はクラスでノートを読んでない。

私の知識を学びにくいことで、ノートを読んでいない。

私はクラスで気を付けるので、何度も質問をしてください。

しかし、

ノート取らないの?

全然取らない。

でも、今はクリミナル・インベスティゲーションというクラスを受験しています。

主にハモサイズに集中しています。

プロフェッサーは…

何がハモサイズ?

一人が殺害した時?

殺害、だね

申し訳ない

更に有法的な言葉で殺害

有法的な言葉だな

一人が殺害する という意味なんだ

殺害

いつも殺害じゃない

犯罪とは違うんだ

例えば殺害については大事ではないが

一人が殺害するのは重要だ

何が?

自分に一人と一人の犯罪について

やさしい犯罪や意欲しい犯罪はできる

犯罪

to slay another man

so, for example, if I go out and I drive my car way too fast, like, way faster than I'm allowed to,

my intention is not to go out and kill people,

but if I crash into another car and then someone dies,

that's then involuntary manslaughter

I didn't mean to kill him, but I did because I was doing something else that was illegal

あ〜事故で死んだ場合とか、

なんかミステイクで死んだ場合も、

はい、わかりました

yeah

だからマーダーではないと

and then voluntary manslaughter would be

let's say you and I get into a fight at a bar over something

and I keep beating you up

and I know that I should stop

yeah

but I don't stop

yeah

in that case, it's voluntary manslaughter

because I should know in that moment if I keep beating you up, you're going to die

それを知っていたか、意図的かどうかですね

うん

but, so for this class, we were actually given notebooks

we have two notebooks

うん

because I filled up one of them

and we have to just take notes on what our professor says

because he says that's what a detective does

and when you're out talking to people, you have to take notes and write down what they say

and you have to write down what's at the crime scene

so that's what we do

and then we bring our notebooks to the exams

and the questions will say like

what was the topic we discussed on January 17th

and then we flip to our notebook

what was the topic

okay, that's the answer

oh, I see

so you need to take notebook

yeah

so you got good grade for this criminal justice

yeah, it's criminal investigation

criminal investigation

うん

the class

and so you did it

yeah, because it was like

that's the whole point of the class is learning to take notes

because a detective has to take a ton of notes

so you kept like a really nice notebook

yeah

so you got good grade

yeah, I currently have 100% in the class

oh, wow

congratulations

that's so great

okay, I have a question then

okay

in Denmark, in the school

yeah

like when you were a kid

did you take note

no

none of them?

no

so I tried taking notes

but I think because I wasn't taking notes as a kid

when I started taking notes, I realized

as I was taking notes, I wasn't paying attention to what the professor was saying

and then I was like, wait, I just missed like the last 20 seconds of what they said

and it might have been important

so then I realized I need to stop taking notes

oh, I see

we had that kind of genius person in the class before, yeah

sometimes there was a smart person in the class

who didn't take notes at all

but while I was taking notes

I would stop paying attention to what the professor was saying

and I would just look at the notes

and the professor would say it's okay because I always got good grades

I thought that was amazing

I'm not that type

I'm the type to take notes

Yurika-san is also the type to take notes

oh, I see

so yeah, we both take a note

and especially like, you know

when I saw like your Hiraku textbook

you took so much memo

like you prepare so well

thank you

so I felt like, you know

maybe you are a person who take a lot of note

no, so I take

obviously I take notes when we're doing Hiraku

because we talk about so many things

and I need to then use the notes to be able to write like actual sentences

because I can't write Japanese that fast

so here I take notes

because otherwise I wouldn't be able to keep track of all the things you said

especially because you're going to say a lot of like

names and places that I'm unfamiliar with

yeah

so that sort of stuff, sure I'll take notes

but for class work, I generally don't have to

however, I do also want to say that the criminal justice major at IU is a

I think pretty easy

really?

yeah, it's not a lot of work required per semester

by far most of my work goes into Japanese

because it's hard

the criminal justice stuff is not that hard

and even though I don't take notes and never have

I do also want to point out that my grades in high school were not good

I skipped a lot of classes

I didn't take it very seriously

so it's not like I'm this like genius always like A plus person

that only started after I came here actually

okay, I see, wow

that's good story for notebook, you know

so you didn't take notebook

and then even now like you don't much take it

but in case you need it for grade or you know requirement

yeah

for Japanese writing

石を穿つ means

石 is stone

can have some holes in it

with long time

It seems like you know, one drop of rain

looks like not doing anything

right, right, right

but if you keep doing it

it will make a hole

so sometimes you feel like you know

you don't have enough power to do something

うん

but if you keep trying

it's like you know, the raindrop even make a hole

yeah

in a stone

so I like this word
