Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello, hello.
Hey guys, how's it going y'all?
Good, good, good.
Good.
How are you? You doing good?
Yeah.
Yeah?
Doing good. Doing good, man.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
I'm having a good days.
Oh, that's good.
Good days, yes.
Good, good.
But my stomach is a bit being weak, I would say.
Maybe because of the milk, maybe.
For my case.
Okay.
You know the...
Yes, I understand.
Maybe, or different...
I see.
Yeah.
Okay.
We're doing this thing for YouTube.
Yes.
It's not out yet, but okay.
Yes.
You gotta drink milk, right?
Yeah, yeah.
Me too. I'm actually a little bit...
My stomach is a little bit unusual.
Okay.
It's a little bit, you know...
Yeah.
It's like...
It's like a little bit like...
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I get it, yes.
Don't take in so much, you know, spices.
Right, right, right, right.
So...
Yeah.
But at the very beginning, a few days, my stomachwas like...
It was very, very good condition.
Okay.
He did a pretty good job.
Okay. Handling the food.
Yeah, like...
Yeah.
It's good.
But I think milk, maybe...
Lactose.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Not that bad, though.
Okay.
I'm in like a usual range.
I can...
It's good zone, but...
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
That's good.
Well, yeah.
All right.
Yeah.
How about your sleep and like about anything, likeeverything about health conditions?
This week, especially.
This week, I would say...
Are you talking about in regards to our Kikakuor...
Well...
Because of all those foods.
Oh, okay.
Yeah, I'm okay with the sleep.
Yeah, I'm just...
It just feels like whenever I eat a little bit ofthe spices, it just kind of gets me a little bit.
That's it, though.
The sleep is okay.
Okay, okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
So you're healthy, but the only problem is...
Right, right, right.
I drink a little bit of Otaishan.
That helps me.
Get through the day.
Yeah, I get it, I get it.
I mean, not only spices, but like the...
Basically, like kind of the amount is pretty bignow.
Oh, really?
I kind of had an opposite...
Oh, really?
...Kanso.
Oh, okay.
Maybe we're having different portions, maybe?
Maybe.
Okay.
Maybe not only just the amount, but like...
It's difficult to explain, but you know, like...
It's like...
It's heavy to me.
Okay, I understand.
It's oily.
Yeah, yeah.
It's oily.
Yeah, sure.
It's flowery.
Sure.
You know.
Did you notice that the green, the little packs?
That's for two.
Yeah.
Oh, you realized that?
Okay.
I thought you were eating...
So I thought you were eating like two servings, but you know.
Yeah, yeah, I know it.
But I eat almost everything.
Like...
Oh, okay.
Yeah, because one portion is pretty small, no?
Like if I divide it into two, it's like...
Is it like one portion to me?
Okay, okay, okay.
I see, I see.
Yeah.
Got it.
I eat like more than half.
Ah, okay.
I see.
But yeah, but still.
Got it.
Yeah.
Well, that's the reason why you think it's alittle too much.
Yeah, to me, like the bread side...
Sure.
...is like heavier.
Sure, sure, sure, sure, sure.
I understand.
I get that too.
Yeah, okay.
Yeah, true.
After finishing, you just have a portion in this.
Right, right, right.
I kind of had an opposite like reaction.
Oh, really?
Yeah, the food might be a little bit like heavy, but like because the portion is not that much,
I can handle it.
That's kind of my...
Okay, okay.
Yeah, I think I'm saying, oh, it's heavy.
Okay, okay.
All right.
日本のレストランでの体験
Yeah, yesterday, yes, I went to the restaurant, the real restaurant.
Okay, okay, sure.
You know, we had a little problem about the fooddelivery and everything.
And I had a different thing to do, so I couldn't,you know, I have to adjust it and everything.
I went to the store and just had it in therestaurant.
Okay, okay, that's nice.
Yeah, that was nice.
It was good?
Yeah, it was very nice.
Yeah, yeah.
But the portion was big.
To me, it was like the full package of that in agreen package.
Right, big, big, big.
Right, sure, sure, sure.
So full.
Right, also, I have the impression that the actualrestaurants in Japan is kind of a full-sized,
full-owned portion.
I agree, I agree.
It does get you full.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
They were very, very kind to me.
I was like, can I record a video a little bitinside?
Well, that's nice.
Go ahead, go ahead.
That's very kind, that's nice.
And after I finished eating, when I left thestore, they were like a manager came out.
Okay.
And introducing the chef.
Really?
The sous-chef to me, like he's the chef, if youhave any questions, you can ask him about
anything about culture and everything.
And I was like, wow.
That's nice.
It's very nice.
I, you know, yeah, I just had a littleconversation with him.
And like a shokan.
Shokans, yeah.
That's great.
Great interaction.
Yeah, yeah.
It was fun.
Nice.
Nice, nice, nice.
That's great.
So yeah, overall, I'm doing good.
Doing good?
That's great.
You too, I guess.
Oh yeah, I'm quite okay.
Quite okay.
Like relatively, compared to the other ones, relatively okay.
Me too, me too.
Yeah, I'd say.
Sucks we can't talk much.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But I'm sure many of you already like are kind ofknow what we're kind of talking about.
You don't know the country probably, but like kindof have an idea.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Right, right, right.
朝すっきり起きられない睡眠パターン
Other than that, completely apart from the kikaku, you talked to me, you said, you asked
me about the sleeping shirt.
Yeah, yeah.
Yeah, I've been like experimenting with my sleeprecently.
I've been trying to go to bed at 12 o'clock sharp, like midnight sharp.
Whereas before it's like one, two, maybe 2.30, itwas kind of around that.
But like, let's keep it strict, sleep at zero.
And the patterns that I've been noticing is, well,I try to get like an eight or nine hour
sleep or seven or something like that.
So like I wake up at eight, right?
But I've been noticing that I wake up at four orfive.
In the morning?
In the morning.
Like really sukkiri.
Oh.
Really sukkiri.
But every time that happens, after like two hoursafter I wake up, I get sleepy.
Oh.
Real hard.
Okay.
That's pattern number one.
Okay.
And pattern number two, if I sort of wake up atfour or five, and then don't wake myself
up, but I just make myself fall back to sleepagain, I wake up around, I would say, it's,
this isn't that narrow of a time slot, but likemaybe around like eight, nine or ten.
Okay.
Yeah.
And whenever I wake up around there, I feel sotired.
Wow.
Yeah.
So that's kind of like the two patterns that I'vebeen noticing.
Okay.
Yeah.
So it's rare for you to just simply wake up ateight and feel good.
No.
That hasn't happened to you?
No, it does not happen.
I can't remember the last time I woke up and like,oh God, it feels good.
Wow.
I honestly cannot.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
So, so for like the pattern one, you wake up atfour, let's say.
Sure.
And you feel good.
Right.
Like, yeah.
Energized.
Energized.
But like at six in the morning, you feel sleepy.
That's right.
I'm like, man, I gotta go to bed.
And do you sleep?
Sometimes yes.
Yeah.
Sometimes yeah.
I sometimes try not to.
Yeah.
Wow.
When I try not to, it's like, it's harder at likeafternoon, you know, like Yugata or like,
like, I don't know, like seven or eight PM.
It's like this really strong urge of sleeping.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And when I do sleep at around like six or seven, Iwake up at like 11 or 12.
Yeah.
It's just not good.
And you feel good after that?
No.
Oh, no.
No.
Well, better than waking up at eight.
Nope.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Wow.
So for the moment, your best solution is wake upat four, sleep at six, and then wake up at
10, 11.
Well, that's, that's taken up too much time.
Yeah.
So I feel like my best solution is waking up ateight and feeling bad.
That's kind of my solution.
But I am getting eight hours sleep and, you know.
I mean, yeah.
Theoretically, that's enough.
Average human sleeping time, right?
Eight hours is great.
So I'm seeing if my body would adjust to this, right?
It's possible that it's just not adjusted, right?
How long have you been trying that?
Two weeks.
Two weeks?
Yeah.
Yeah.
就寝時間を早める実験
Maybe you're just adjusting to the sleeping slotand everything.
Earlier time, right?
Yeah.
Wow.
I can't, yeah.
See, what's devastating is I can't remember thelast time I woke up feeling great.
Yeah.
My wife either.
We were like, yeah, we're kind of like on the samesort of like cycle of like,
shit, I don't know what we should do with oursleeping.
Wow.
Yeah.
Okay.
Yeah.
You guys both doing the same rhythm?
The same experiment?
Well, not strictly.
Like I'm more strictly on schedule.
She's more like, she's more relaxed.
Yeah.
Wow.
That's difficult.
But sleeping too much is also very bad.
It gets you tired.
Yeah.
Right.
So one of the theory is like maybe eight hours istoo much for me.
Yeah.
Maybe like seven.
Yeah.
Six and a half.
Yeah.
Something like that.
That's an adjustment point.
Right.
That I could do.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Wow.
I mean, I heard nap, taking a nap is very goodthing.
Like midday, right?
Yeah.
Midday.
Yeah.
30 minutes.
But like your case is like at six in the morning.
You haven't taken a nap and then, right?
Yeah.
And you're going to take a nap for like three, four hours, right?
Yeah.
It's not even a nap, right?
It's like just sleeping part two, right?
You said you've done like a sleeping experiment, didn't you?
Yeah.
I did like trying to sleep at 12 midnight.
How did that go?
I think it's the pretty same logic as yourssituation.
I was tend to like sleep in like very late.
So I want to, and I knew like even I sleep eighthours.
It's different when I go to bed at three and thenuntil what?
11.
Versus I go to bed at, let's say 11.
Okay.
And then wakes up, wake up at seven.
Okay.
It's totally different experience to me.
Got it.
Earlier, the better.
Yes.
Okay.
So I knew that.
So maybe why don't we just shift into the likeearlier time.
Okay.
To feel good when the morning comes.
Got it.
And that worked.
Okay.
Yeah.
So I'm keeping it still.
Oh, got it.
Trying to as much of it as possible though.
Okay.
Yeah.
So how many days of experiment did you do to findthat out?
What to me was like quite instant because I go tobed at 11 and the next morning I feel good.
Okay.
So it was already obvious.
Yeah.
Earlier the better.
Oh, okay.
Okay, okay, okay.
So do you right now try to sleep as early aspossible?
Yes.
Oh, okay.
I mean, not early, like seven, eight though.
But realistically, whenever it's possible.
Yes.
Okay.
Basically like the earliest possible is 12 or 11and a half or something like that.
So yeah.
Right.
I have an impression that you wake up pretty late.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
So I do go to bed like 11, 30, 12 and then eight, nine.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah.
Does it feel good when you wake up?
You feel okay?
Like, do you feel like if you didn't have anyschedule afterwards, you'd want to sleep?
Do you get that feeling?
Oh, I mean, not like a usual day.
Okay.
No, I love to wake up and just, I'm hungry.
Oh, you wake up hungry.
Eat something.
Oh, okay, okay, okay.
I want to drink something.
It's my first.
I see.
What?
First.
Body reaction.
Yes, yes, yes.
I see.
I want to eat something.
食事時間と起床時の空腹感
Wait, wait, when do you finish your meal at night?
What time do you try?
Try?
Yeah.
I try eating at eight.
Eight.
Got it.
But realistically, what time?
Oh, well, that's pretty impressive.
Yeah.
I mean, 10, 9, 10.
Yeah.
Okay, okay, okay.
9, 10, I think.
Okay.
Hmm.
But yeah, when I wake up, I feel hungry.
Okay.
Yeah.
Usually when I eat, you know, one or two hoursbefore sleeping time,
whenever I wake up the next day, it feels kind oflike it's still there.
I don't feel hungry.
So, like, you have a great digestive system.
I guess.
Yeah, maybe.
Okay.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I see.
But, yeah.
But if I'm too tired, like, there's so many thingsthat I need to do for, you know,
every day, every day.
And just one day of a day off, and I sleep.
Yeah, a lot.
I want to sleep a lot.
Right.
But at the same time, I know if I sleep too much, like, if I wake up at, like, 11,
that's too much to me.
And it's tiring.
And I ruin my whole day.
So, yes, yes.
Yeah, okay.
Even though I want to sleep more than average.
Okay.
I wake up, maybe, maybe at 15, 30 minutes ofsleep.
Okay.
I wake up.
Difficult.
エアコン温度と睡眠の質
Do you wake up cold or do you wake up hot?
What do you mean?
Like the AC.
Like, do you wake up shivering or do you wake upsweating?
Or neither?
Neither.
Like, do you?
Yeah, I always wake up shivering or sweating.
Yeah, I think.
Is that the problem, right?
Yeah.
Yeah, I mean, during, like, what?
Like, you know, winter times or summer times, it'sreally difficult to have your AC on,
like, the perfect temperature.
Yes.
Yeah.
Like, for example, I, you know, I turn on the AC,like, 26 degree label.
Yeah, I agree.
Summertime.
Like, every time I let it be like that, the nextday morning, it's like 23 or something.
Yeah.
Right?
Yeah, I get it.
And it's cold.
I see, I see.
Yeah.
Maybe that's the problem.
That's the problem.
But I can't, I can't.
At night, it's too hot.
So I gotta turn on the AC.
Oh, okay.
But at, right.
So what I do is I do the timer thing.
I do it for, like, five hours or six hours.
Yeah.
And so, like, the rest of the three hours, I do itnon-AC'd.
And that kind of works out, yeah.
Okay.
So yeah, if I do that every time I wake up, I'm,like, a little bit cold or just a little
bit sweaty.
But still, it's not perfect.
And besides, the five-hour window that the AC'son, I don't know how my body's reacting.
Oh, okay, okay.
I see.
Oh, yeah.
That's also a big, big element.
Temperature.
That still, that is still, like, difficult tocontrol.
Still a mystery.
Right.
You don't use the typical AC, right?
You use, like, the oil heater, you said, right?
In my bedroom, yes, I use the AC.
Oh, okay, I see.
Yeah.
You don't turn on the AC, right, if I remembercorrectly?
I do.
Oh, you do sometimes?
Yeah, sometimes, yes.
Okay.
Like, today, like, this morning, tonight.
Yeah, I did.
And you don't, you feel okay in the morning?
Yeah, I feel okay.
You feel great, okay.
Like, perfect temperature?
Yeah.
I would say relatively hot.
Okay.
But not, I wasn't sweating.
Yeah.
Moisty.
Okay.
睡眠研究者への関心
You know, there are, um, a professor of sleeping.
Oh, yeah, that recently got, uh, got.
Some kind of prize.
Nobel Prize or something?
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Oh, Nobel Prize?
Oh, I'm sorry, maybe not Nobel Prize.
Oh, okay, okay.
I know, I know who you're talking about.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Several weeks ago, he was on the news, right?
Yes, yes, yes, yes.
I, I didn't, like, dig deeper, but I saw him.
Just the headline and, uh.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Maybe you should ask him about some questions.
Ask him, oh, if I can get in contact.
Yeah, yeah, you should, you should call him.
Call him, okay.
I'll line him.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, so.
Yeah.
All right.
Thanks for sitting, guys.
Thank you.
Bye-bye.
