Welcome to Kevin's English Room Podcast.
Hello.
Hello, hello.
So, I was in the 度数会 yesterday.
Yeah.
And, you know how I'm into beauty right now, right?
Yeah.
And, me, and well, mostly the girls that were intobeauty.
We were talking about, you know, beauty stuff.
Yeah.
And, we got into this topic of how can we convinceour partners to do skin care.
One of the girls was like, my husband doesn't doshit.
Oh, okay.
He doesn't give a fuck.
Like, he doesn't even wash his face.
He doesn't even put sunscreens on.
Yeah.
And, like, what can we do to convince the partnersto be more aware of the skin care?
The importance of skin care.
And, it was such a difficult topic.
Okay.
It was like, and I do hear that occasionally froma lot of people.
When you go into skin care, the people that areinto skin care is like, understands or maybeunderstand is too arrogant.
But, like, thinks that it's very important and, like, wants the partner to have the same fruitwhen it fruits.
What do you think about that, man?
What do you think, what do you have to say topeople who have that thought?
That's a...
So, basically, they don't share, the partners, they don't share the same, the values, right?
The vision of, like...
Yes.
Yes.
The husband doesn't want to be beautiful.
The wife thinks it's important to stay, lookyoung.
It's, well, not only those, like, beauty things.
It's, ultimately, like, it's impossible, you know,to force them to something that they don't reallythink valuable, you know?
Not only the beauty things.
Yeah.
So, the only, well, but still, if you want it, youjust need to, like, keep, I don't know, talkingabout how valuable it is.
To you, what's the value for you?
Because, I guess, the partner doesn't have thatmind.
I guess that's the only way.
Ultimately, I think that's the goal.
You just skip through all the, like, arguments andI think you just went with the ultimate conclusionthat it's better to give up.
You can't change anybody, right?
Ultimately.
I agree.
You can't be, you can't make somebody beinterested in football.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Hey, this guy, this player is crazy, gotta checkhim out, right?
If you're not interested, end of the day, you'renot gonna have a great conversation.
03:03
That's understandable.
But, like, so, what I do understand, though, fromsomebody who's interested in the beauty standards, like, beauty world, there's a certain level ofskincare that you should do, like, to sort of...
Because it's such a damage to your skin.
Like, for example, sunscreen.
Okay.
That's like, you gotta do it.
And I think you're not in this role.
I think you're somebody who doesn't have thatvalue.
What's your take on somebody who would say that?
Well, I mean, you think it's important to do it.
And I'm okay, I don't do it.
Okay.
Can we play, like, a little bit of a devil'sadvocate here?
You don't have to be you, just be a person who'snot interested in skincare.
Okay.
Right?
I think that's easier for you.
Yeah.
You can do it yourself, you can do it yourself, though.
Okay, okay, okay.
Yeah.
Okay.
But somebody who doesn't do sunscreen...
Wait, do you do sunscreen, by the way?
I do sometimes.
But sometimes, though, right?
Sometimes.
Great, perfect.
Because I'm not...
So, first of all, I'm not, like, completely...
Like, I'm not somebody that I'd never want to doanything.
It's just, I don't care.
You don't care.
It's like...
That's perfect.
Yeah.
That's perfect.
I know it's important.
So I sometimes do that.
Yeah.
But sometimes doesn't.
That sometimes doesn't, yeah.
I think that's perfect.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
So our stance is like, you gotta put them everyday, bro.
Like, you gotta put them on every day.
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Like, even when the sun's not out completely, youdon't have to do it at night.
But, like, during the daytime, even if it'scloudy, you gotta put them on.
Yeah, I heard it.
Right?
Because the UVA's and the UVB's, it's really gonnaspeed up your aging.
Yeah.
You could get skin cancer.
You're risking that skin cancer shit.
Mm-hmm.
You don't want to look all wrinkly and old.
Don't you?
Yeah.
Well, then why don't you put your sunscreen on?
It's just too lazy.
It's oily.
I don't, I don't like that.
So we have these spray type sunscreens.
Yeah.
Oh, it sounds good.
You just have to spray it on your face.
That's it.
Sounds nice.
So you don't have to cream it on your face.
Oh, that's nice.
Yeah, just do the spraying thing.
What do you think about that?
That's nice.
Yeah?
I would buy that.
You'd buy that?
Yeah.
You'd put them on every day?
I'd try to, yeah.
But you gotta put them on every day.
Yeah, I try to.
You try to?
I try to.
What makes you, what would be a scenario where youwouldn't?
I forget.
Mm-hmm.
I don't know.
06:00
I'm, I forget maybe.
You'd forget?
Yeah.
I see.
I understand.
It's not, I guess it's not as important as, forexample, like brush my teeth or, I don't know, eatbreakfast.
Mm-hmm.
If I compare to those things, it's still not thatimportant.
So I might forget.
I see.
You know.
I see.
I see.
I see.
Hmm.
Do you want to age well?
Yeah.
You want to age well?
Yeah.
You want to look great when you age, right?
Yeah.
You don't want to be all smelly and sweaty and wrinkly, don't you?
You don't want that happening to you.
I don't want to be smelly at least.
Yeah.
Yeah.
You don't want to look like you're 80 when you're60, right?
Hmm.
You don't want that happening, right?
Mm-hmm.
You don't want that happening, right?
No.
Well, if you have that value, then the best way toprevent it is to protect yourself from UV.
Yeah.
I know it.
I'll buy that spray.
Yeah.
Oh, okay.
You're going to buy a spray.
You're going to buy a spray.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Yeah.
Thank you.
Yeah.
I guess the conversation will be like this, Iguess.
Yeah.
I mean, I knew how this was going to turn out.
It's like I understand what you're saying, but it's just, I don't know.
It's like...
You're not feeling it?
Yeah, I guess so.
It's like, logically, yeah.
There's no passion inside me.
Oh, I understand.
So it's like, yeah, I understand it.
Yeah, and I might buy that spray.
Honestly, I might buy that spray, but honestly, I'm not sure if I do it like every day.
I think I will forget.
Yeah.
It makes sense because you don't have that value, right?
Yeah.
It's like, yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think so.
I mean, yeah, I understand.
Yeah.
Yeah.
It's like stretching every day.
It's important, I know.
Stretching helps, but I'm too lazy to do it.
Just like that, I guess.
Right?
Yeah.
It makes sense.
Or going to the gym for some people.
Right.
It's good, but...
Right.
I'm too lazy to, gotta change.
Yeah.
It hurts.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But I just feel like, maybe I'm too skewed, but Ifeel like...
So I'm in the gym world.
Yeah.
And I'm also in the skin world.
Okay, okay.
Right?
I feel like in the gym world, you don't hear thatmuch though.
Like you don't hear like the partners be like, Iwant my partner to go to the gym because it'sbetter for them.
I know it's better for them.
09:00
I hear more in the skincare world, like I want mypartners to like do proper skincare.
I see.
It's just, I hear it more somehow.
Okay.
Yeah.
But I understand it.
Because to me, it feels more essential.
I see.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
I guess it's not that essential.
At least I don't feel that essential to me.
What about like, so one more difficult thing forpeople like me to understand how important thatis, is like, we're not 80.
So we don't, we're not seeing the result, I wouldsay.
So it might be easier for you to settoku if peoplecan see the result.
Oh, yeah.
Like AI result.
Maybe.
After 20, 30, 50 years.
And then I would be like, oh, wow, I'm scared.
And then just maybe like shocks and then try to dosomething, maybe.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Or if I'm already smelly and I don't know, verybad.
And if your partner tells you that you are smellyand you have to do something, you've got to dosomething.
Then I would try something.
Right.
But I guess to me, what you do is like, it lookssomething like trying to be better kind ofdifficult.
Better than necessary.
Right.
I understand.
So if you can give some like shocker, people willlike move maybe.
Right.
Right.
It feels like more than necessary, but we'recommunicating as a negative to zero.
Yeah.
Right.
Yeah.
The gap has to be adjusted with some sort of acause.
Yeah, something.
Yeah.
It's like we all know that eating healthy is veryimportant, but I eat ramen sometimes.
Yeah.
But one day you got something and then you finallykind of realized that, oh, this was likeimportant.
Uh-huh.
And so you need some punch.
Punch in the face.
Yeah.
Right.
Maybe.
Oh, yeah.
I understand.
Yeah.
I understand.
That's a very similar topic of like, you know how,you know, several years ago when we were lookingfor partners, there was always this conversationof like, hey, I found a guy.
12:01
He looks great, but I don't like his fashion.
You know, his fashion is not great.
But like there was always this advice of like, hey, you can change his outfit.
You can, you can sort of teach him great, like, you know, great fashion.
And I, it feels like a very similar topic of like,if he's not interested in the fashion from the getgo, I don't know, I don't know how much you cansort of like change the guy.
Right.
So I was like, yeah, that's it.
I thought it was a kind of like a similar.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, true.
But yeah, right.
I just, yeah.
Thank you though.
Yeah, that was interesting for me.
Yeah.
Yeah.
But you're trying to.
To what?
Trying to, trying people to do that.
Oh, so ultimately I, no, I'm not trying toconvince anybody to start skincare routine.
But the girl I was talking to, the husband doesn'teven do shit.
OK, OK.
Doesn't do nothing.
That's where we were like, well, that's a problem.
OK.
But like ultimately our conversation was like, it's going to be pretty difficult.
Yeah.
Right.
It's going to be pretty difficult to changesomebody's interest.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Yeah.
Right.
Right.
That's it.
All right.
Thanks for sending guys.
Thank you.
Bye bye.
